Updates on some hot community topics

November 15, 2007 by pastapadre

-The 360 demo for College Hoops 2K8 was mentioned as coming “very soon” in the conference call. It seems likely that it is just going through the MS approval process and then it will be deployed. This will probably happen next week possibly on Tuesday, the day the game actually hits stores.

-NHL 08 received a roster update yesterday. It took a long time but a great deal of effort was spent as they updated not just the NHL but the AHL as well.

-NBA Live 08 should be seeing its initial roster update very soon. The Online Team Play is still awaiting approval from MS/Sony before it can be activated.

-The patch for Madden 08 is still going through the lengthy process required before it can be released. There are hopes that EA will soon be able to give an idea on a time frame for when the patch will be expected to make its way out. We may hear from them about that as early as the end of this week. The release of the patch does not appear to be imminent but it is certainly well on the way.

-There has been no additional news on the possibility of the 360 version of NCAA Football 08 receiving the patch that its PS3 counterpart did. The situation is still being evaluated. *Update* There will be a patch for the 360, initial expectations are that it will be out in early December.

-College Hoops 2K8 had the list of 360 achievements come out. You can find them here.

-EA has put out a survey about Madden. It has you rate certain aspects of the game, give your opinions, and even rate All-Pro Football 2K8 in specific areas. You can take the survey here. It takes about 10 minutes to complete.

Pasta, no word yet about the unlocking of the edit player feature in NBA Live 08? Please try to find some answers for this with the folks from EA.

Well it doesn’t appear that is going to change unfortunately. I’m not sure what the reasoning behind locking the editing was in the first place, definitely a curious decision. I know thats a bummer for some people, personally though it means little to me other than the occasional odd looking shoe colors.

The best you can take away from that is 09 is sure to allow it. March Madness is going to allow full editing as well.

Well, I wish EA would go ahead and throw this patch out there because it’s kidna keeping me from starting a franchise, therefore it’s keeping me from enjoying their product and consequently purchasing future titles.

They must do something. I agree with In a Nutsack, that’s keeping me from enjoying the game as well.

The patch for Madden 08 concern only the NextGen version or concern the PC version too ?

It just isn’t that simple though. I can only imagine the outrage that would be had if the patch came out and it didn’t work right or broke something else. I know its tough to be patient but in this case it is necessary. EA is eager to get it out and move on, but they have to go through the necessary steps and wait on certification before it can go out.

Pasta- I’m more concerned, and confused with the lack of demo for 360 College Hoops fans. What happened? Was there a glitch that did not allow it to pass MS certs? Releasing the game on the 19th or 20th pretty much does nothing for the fanbase who is going to be purchasing the game that day. Why did the PS3 version of the demo get pushed out and not 360?

The College hoops demo you only get 3 minutes of playing time. The graphics do look better though

I understand it has to go through a certain amount of red tape, Pasta, but we spend $60 of our hard-earned money to enjoy EA’s most storied product, and yet they can’t have this patch figured out before over half the NFL season is done with? I don’t buy it.

I guess I can’t complain if I can’t even figure out the “quote” mechanic on this blog…

I could really care less about the Madden or Live patch. I just have come to gripps with it. I was a Madden lover until last year and this year was NO different. Live is good. But, like everyone else has said. They no edit feature is horrid. I have stopped asking myself “WHY?” With that said. Im really looking forward to the college games. I was always a bigger fan. I dont even play NBA games after the college games come out.

Lastly, I would like to thank EA for not putting out a product that I myself enjoy. Because of them I have come to realize that I love FPS/3rdPS. Call of Duty 4 is by far the greatest game I have ever played. BUT, not only that game but, Gears, GRAW2, and Halo. So for EA not putting out a game that I like I have found a my time being spent playing non sports games. And I have not been dissapointed.

    EA sucks.

Its pretty insulting to make us wait for this dam patch.

    Bah.

I can’t believe that the PS3 got the CHoops Demo & an NCAA patch before the 360 did. A bigger fanbase and more units sold on the 360 yet we get screwed.

I do like the idea of surveys though and wish that they would use them for further patches

I haven’t been able to start my franchise on Live because of the rosters (or lack there of). It is a bummer too, I haven’t spent much time playing it even though I have played 77 games online O_O

that’s almost a whole seasons worth of games waiting on the Live patch

  16. AKENE on November 15th, 2007 4:51 pm Quote

HEY PASTA ANY UPDATE ON WHEN THE ROSTER’S COME OUT FOR LIVE. I HAVE HEARD SOON FROM EA FOR SO LONG. THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED.

I’m really looking forward to the 5 vs 5 patch. Microsoft approval, damn.

Boom shakalaka. Right on, DirtyJerz32. The best football game I’ve ever played was ESPN NFL 2k5 for PS2. ESPN presentation. Great statistical overlays. Berman doing the halftime rundown. Similar graphics to Madden. Full editing of players. ALL PLAYERS, ALL THE TIME. And, formation substitutions–not just depth chart changes. All that sweet, buttery goodness for only $20. That’s how a real football franchise rolls.

Dirty, add Rainbow Six to that list…most anything with “Tom Clancy” attached to it will be a fantastic buy. CoD4 really is the best game I’ve ever played.

Pasta, are we going to get an update today, Re: Madden 08 patch date?

If not, I figure I will just sell the game and move on. If we don’t get word today, then there’s no way the patch comes out next week. Almost 4 months after purchasing and I still can’t use it…

indefensible customer support again from EA.

  20. pastapadre on November 21st, 2007 9:46 am Quote

There really isn’t anything more than the wait now, they can’t give a specific date. I get the sense that we’re still a bit away from seeing it. It could come any day but I’m in more of a by the end of the month mindset. I know its frustrating but they are just as anxious to have it released as everyone is waiting for it.
