Details on the first Madden 08 roster update

Tomlinson Madden 08

The roster update that was expected to be released for the 360 and PS3 versions of Madden 08 is now available. In order to receive the new roster file, you need to start a ranked online game. It will prompt a download of the latest rosters which can then be saved over the previous online roster set and used offline as well.

The hottest topic surrounding this update was how Michael Vick would be dealt with. EA has moved him down the depth chart. He is not in the three slots alloted to the QB position. However he is still in the game and on the Falcons roster, which means those who wish to continue using him will be able to do so by moving him in prior to an online game or by editing the depth chart themselves for offline play. His rating has not been changed, he is still a 90 OVR.

Continue on to read every single transaction, rating adjustment, and contract extension that was made with the roster update.

Also, roster update details for each one that is released throughout the year can be found here.

Now if they can fix the fumbles and CPU ints by the user, the game will be sweet.

    Not the best update IMO.

Bears are still missing quite a few players.

First year with Live. Tell me, if I start a franchise then load a roster update over top of the one I started with, do I need to start the franchise over again?

Well yeah. The whole idea of franchise mode is that you make changes to your roster as do the other teams in the league. So it wouldn’t make much sense to completely wipe things out and start over once you’ve started a franchise.

So if you want to start clean with the new rosters you’d have to just start up a new one.

    Pretty good update actually.

Three new rookies 4 the Bears that aren’t listed.

WR Roy Hall for the Colts is listed on the game at 6′1 and is much taller. Not a significant problem, but something that I looked forward to utilizing in my passing game. Also, is there a way (PS3) in 2 player versus mode to change how the playbook is? I don’t like my friends to be able to see what play I am picking. I miss the old system.

OK, I just got a wireless router so I’m new to the online gaming piece. So, in order to get this roster update, I have to go to PS3’s network, register for online gaming, then go to the Madden area and start a ranked online game…is all of this correct?

Actually the update sucks there are players in the game in FA that this update did not put onto the teams they play on. Nor did this update put Trent Green on Miami. Well it does not say it did.

Ok, new update is downloaded and franchise has started. But when I go into the rosters to release Ferguson from GB, all it allows is a trade or to cancel. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong? I’ve tried to release several players from the update while in franchise mode and the release player feature is not available. Thanks.

to Andy, you cant release Ferguson from GB because you are in franchise mode, and you can only control your own team. you have to load the roster titled Online, then begin a new franchise if you want Ferguson and the others where they belong. Of course, a month from now, the update will be outdated anyway.

man pac man jones should be on the game because mike vick is.Plus the titans need a corner back, more weapons, and a kick returner. He would probably have a ovr of 95 with 97 speed.Poor pac-man

What about release of Eagles MLB Trotter and also Rookie TE Brent Celek who looks to be a future star. Also WR Jeremy Bloom needs to be signed.

Brady Quinns throwing power and accuracy should be improved slightly as not even 90…. Not great natural talent for a future QB star

I was wondering, is there a way for me to download the updated Madden ‘08 PS3 Rosters from my computer(via internet)to a USB Slot/Card Storage Device?? If so, what website and how much?? This would save me a ton of time because I could just upload the new rosters to my PS3 instead of manually editing player-by-player as I’ve been doing for years. Thanks in advance
