NBA Live 08 full game: Heat @ Celtics

This game features the Miami Heat facing off against the new look Boston Celtics and is played on All-Star difficulty.
A couple notes:
I’ve seen comments in different places about the aggressiveness of point guards and that is true to a certain extent. You’ll need to play good defense on them otherwise they’ll drive the lane or pull up on you. However there is a big difference depending on who the PG is. Face Jason Kidd and he’ll terrorize you when you’re controlling Earl Boykins (trust me on this one) but here Jason Williams wasn’t really a big concern of mine.
I noticed a few auto-subs made in this game for the CPU. I doubt it was necessary given the little fatigue that comes off with the default settings, but that should mean you’d see more in longer games, or especially if adjusting sliders.
I’m going to attempt to get up one game video tomorrow, Sunday, and Monday. I’m looking at Chicago @ LA Lakers and Charlotte @ Atlanta. If you have requests for the thrid matchup make them in the comments. Sorry that I won’t be able to get everyone’s teams in obviously but I’ll choose at random from the suggestions.
I’ll also try and add some more responses in the questions/answer posting (added a few regarding dynasty today). I hope to record at least one online game as well, possibly tomorrow.

I noticed no one has asked this and you haven’t address this so here it is: You know how in the demo (at least on PS3)when you first go to the arena they show Gilbert Areans and his eyes are crosseyed, is this glitch still in the final build? (I also noticed this happens in the game as well.
Also is the game speed up when players dunk or do moves slowed down at all or did you have to adjust sliders to correct this problem?

are the all star jerseys the las vegas ones or do they have new ones? can you like put in codes, usually later after the game is out you can put in codes to get more jerseys or sneakers, cuz they always do that with the new all star jerseys

Lovin Live but it seems like Shaq never got the ball, he should get the ball way more.Also GTMs could be used more too as far as the CPU. I wonder what a CPU vs CPU game would be like?
Oh and a Suns game would be great,but not GS I am tired of seeing them. Lakers would be the best b/c everyone Im sure wants to see all of kobe’s GTMs. So Suns vs Lakers.

the heat don’t play like the heat.. the ball rarely went to shaq… and shaq wasn’t even establishing position… in reality almost every play goes through shaq.. some bad ai logic here

For the people wanting to know about the shoes in the game, prepare to have your hopes dashed: Pasta just confirmed me today that you can’t edit/change any gear in the game. That’s right. If your baller came with a miss-placed armband, knee brace or even a wrong pair of sneakers, that’s it. What a MAJOR letdown. I don’t understand why the developers rip a feature that’s been staples in the series for years. I love editing my rosters. If it’s mid-season and Kobe decides to go with a headband and long socks, I won’t be able to re-create that in my game now. I thought that was part of the authenticity of the experience. Live 08 lost some serious momentum with me. It’s all about the little details. I know there are other things to adress that may have more importance gameplay wise. But we know they have the technology to give the user the ability to edit his own players because it’s been there for years. I’m so pissed right now.

Any word on the fatigue?? I hate to think it’s not a part of the game at all. Are there sliders that can be used to adjust it? Sorry for the basic questions, but I have not been a hoops guys for many years as the games haven’t looked good enough for me.

Classic EA, why they would take away a feature thats been in the game and has no negative affect on the game is beyond me. this is where EA confuses me, why are we paying the same price for a product that they are taking features away from. You wouldn’t by a car one you with leather seats and turn around and pay the same price the next year for the same car with cloth seats would you? EA is good at making you feel hyped then robbed all in the same emotion. 2K8 gets my vote.

One more thing that has me pissed about the inability to edit in the game. EA has this so called exciting announcement about create a jersey. How about keeping features in the game that work rather than taking things away that make sense and slapping the same $60 price tag on it.
So if I trade Kobe to the Bull he’ll have his same LA colors on. Great job EA thats keeping it real, right? Idiots.

Artoficial, we’ll be able to edit players numbers and ratings, and that’s it. But I hope the game will recognize team specific colors for acessories when you trade players. But what about Zach Randolph in NY wearing his red nikes from the Portland days? No one will be able to change that. We’ll also be forced to accept Nash wearing Nike Shox designed for big men like Jermaine O’Neal and so on…people out there may think this is nitpicking, but it’s not. I wanna be able to customize my experience. I still had a fool’s hope that the game wouldn’t ship without this feature, but Pasta told me that his copy is the retail one. I think we should ask Pasta to contact EA so we can find out why the decided to take this feature away from the game.

Obviously people care. These are the details that people are looking for in today’s games, especially if they have been there in past game. You keep trying to belittle disappointed peoples comments. You must not be an avid fan of the NBA or a fan of a Great(not good) basketball games. EA has consistently shown us their priorities. Business first, advertising second and game making third. And thats completely ok, its there company to run. The frustration comes when people like you are naive enough to say the things you do. You always drop that KNOWLEDGE is POWER line.

I figured as much as far as editing the players number and ratings. I agree I’d love an answer from EA however lame the excuse and trust me it would have to be very lame.
The problems I’ve had with EA is they seem to always want to take guesses at how we the games want to experience the game rather than using a little common sense. I perfect example of this is making to many things contextual so we play the game the way EA feels it should be played. This is why their online experience is usually not worth playing in comparison to 2K. I just don’t get the developers of this title.

I love your comments!! Just love them! I won’t get in a verbal battle over a basketball game. Call you names, never, I am to much of a man for that!! The little things about the game “you” and others are getting bent out of shape about does not matter to me. I never in my existence of living used that feature,so, I don’t care!!!!!! See, I have a handle and a perspective on things. I am not wishing upon a star! This game is not going to be unblemished and neither will 2k. I do not make video games; therefore, I can not judge either company about why they make the decisions they do? I can speculate, but what good does that do? And from the sound of it, you don’t make video games either. It sounds like your getting 2k! That’s great! If you get Live instead, that’s great!! We are two fans, trying to find the best game for us!!! There are things about Live that I already don’t like, but it will suffice, 2k does not work well for me!! I am not being sacarstic when I say enjoy the game of your choice! I am glad you voiced your thoughts about my comments! Really! Your a smart individual, you and everybody else in this forum will do what’s best for them.

Guys, I´m still going for Live 08 and I´m also buying 2K8. They removed the edit accessories feature, ok, it´s not the end of the world. But that won´t change the fact that I, as an avid gamer, have the right to be disapointed over that decision. I don´t have to accept this in a quiet manner. I feel like I´m a part of the Live community and I will let them know that this is a a bad decision. I´d like to have an answer to that. We should let Pasta know that this is a major letdown from EA´s part so he can get us some answers.
