EA clarifies on Madden 08 franchise fix in upcoming patch

Madden 08

As I suspected the patch for Madden 08 will include a fix to the franchise mode that has been causing people to prematurely end their franchises. Unfortunately this information was apparently cut off from the previous blog posting by EA that detailed what the patch was fixing. How they managed to miss that and take four days to clarify I don’t know, but now everyone can calm down.

In addition to everything mentioned earlier the patch will will address:

Franchise – Fixed bug where the FA pool would run out of certain positions

Online Game Reporting- fixed a number of issues where games weren’t being reported correctly or people weren’t getting the right number of ranking points for a win. This will also make stats more accurate.

EA SPORTS World- Accomplishment ’20 consecutive completions’ not awarded when completions ends up under 100%

I heard that all the fix for franchise was going to be…was when the free agent pool ran out of free agents, and a team needs a player…it just generates one, instead of actually fixing the problem where some people just disappear from Free Agency and instead of fixing the undrafted rookies not going into free agency problem. Do you speak to one of the higher ups yourself Pasta when finding these things out…or do you have to rely on EA’s “Customer Service”…if you can even call it that.

WoW, I hope they’ve actually stopped the free agents and rookies from disappearing…and not just that “generate-a-player” BS. That’s an EA fix for you, if that happens to be true. But, I won’t judge them on that until there’s clarification on that whole deal. I hope that was just an inept Customer Service rep that told you that.

I don’t have any idea about that, I’ll see if I can find out how the fix works.

Hey Pasta, have you heard anything about whether or not they will also look at the

1.edit player glitch (player’s age changes to 26 and contracts change)

and

2. Int X 2 Glitch (surely u know bout this one so I wont explain it)

1- Yes that was listed as being fixed with this patch.

2- I haven’t heard anything on that and wouldn’t expect it to be.

Here is the official word I’ve gotten back from EA after inquiring about how the fix for the disappearing free agents works. Basically it’ll work as it was intended to in the first place.

Pasta, keep up the good work. I’m glad I stumbled across your site. Some of these things being “fixed” in the patch were keeping me from starting a franchise.

I believe the NHL patch that came out a little while ago is it, there won’t be anything additional coming.

Yes…

The rosters are unrelated to the patch. Theres a lot more that goes into getting a patch through certification. I think its possible we’ll see it sometime this coming week, but theres no way to know for sure.

Has ea said anything about the patch? Cause people from ea costumer service said november 19 which would mean Ea didn’t deploy the patch to Microsoft.

I got this game the night it came out. I have never been more disappointed. Until they fix the age turning to 26 and fix the Sim Engine I just cant do a franchise. Let us know when this is released.

You can’t go by anything customer service says. The fact that they even gave you a specific date is a sure sign that it isn’t true. There is no way to know when it’ll be through that process, but it’ll be pushed out as soon as its completed it. It isn’t inconceivable that it could take that long, but I would guess that it’ll be out sooner.
