It appears that the long awaited second patch for Madden 08 is nearing clearance for release. There should be an EA producer blog coming very soon that will have more details on when it can be expected.
This is the patch that will address the main issues with the game such as the high rate of fumbles and franchise mode freezes.
It is possible but unlikely they’ll be providing a specific date so we may be looking at range. The impression I get is by the end of next week but there is no way to be certain. It could be any day now or it could be a longer wait. Regardless they wouldn’t be putting out the blog without a solid idea of its status and when it is likely to complete certification and get pushed out.

It better fix a lot more than just that. I can deal with the fumbles. Its the fact that I cant change a Jersey number or Player Name (or position) without the age going to 26. Without any racial bias, I cant stand having White guys named JeMarcus and Running Backs wearing number 48 or wearing a retired number by the certain teams, but you cant change it, because the player age changes! It really eliminated a lot of Madden’s realism despite the sweet graphics. If that issue isnt addressed I will never buy another Madden game again and they will have wasted their time, and ours, with this patch.

BTW thanks for the update Pasta. None of this is your fault.

EA Sucks…
…That is All.

unhappy madden fan, check the past posts. the “age change” bug is fixed w/this patch as are a few other items.

Well, I hope this patch is out soon. As much as I appreciate EA trying to fix their problem, I wish they would have put this out sooner. It’s already Week 13 in the NFL, and I still haven’t started a franchise, yet.
But, I do appreciate the roster updates. Those are pretty handy and they’ve been fairly well done.
I’d like to second unhappy madden fan’s sentiment…thanks for these updates and for keeping us informed, Pasta. I’m not dumping on your head with some of my frustration. You’re doing a great job.

Thanks Todd. I must have missed that post. The game would be 100% better if they fixed that and the FA pool running out. This patch is the last hope to salvage this game!

The Browns are much better than a 72 rating; and also Derek Anderson’s overall rating is probably accurate, but his speed is a disgrace (Bernie Kosar ran faster than a 50 and we all know that he was not an athlete. Anderson should be given at leat a 70 rating for speed; he is much faster than what you perceive. Its impossible for him to drop back without getting sack, particularly behind that weak, inaccuratly rated, offensive line that have been assigned to the Browns in the game. The Browns currently have one of the best offensive line in the league, and most importantly, the Browns have been rated as a top ten team in both ESPN and Fox Sports’ power rankings. Therefore, you guys need to ammend the team ratings to accuately reflect each team accomplishments prior to updating the rosters.

who are you talking to martin? No one here works at EA.
Also, you know you can edit rosters on your own right? Go ahead and pump up the browns. It’s easy to do!

Be careful when you edit. Brady Quinn or Joe Thomas might turn 26.
Im going to hold off on Madden until the patch is out.

Actually, the Saints have the best offensive line in the league. They’ve only allowed 8 sacks.

Too bad they can’t run.

Im sorry but in the words of jermey from Purepwnage. Now that Nfl 2k5 is backwards compatible…
EA can suck my balls.
The E can take one side and the A can take the other.

Hey Todd, How do one edit the roster?
November 28, 2007 at 12:56 pm
Martin, from the main menu, go to “My Madden” > Rosters > Player Management, then select a player and choose edit. You can edit Information, Accesories or attributes.
November 28, 2007 at 12:57 pm
Gabe, I can’t argue with you, there.
Hey Todd, How do one edit the roster?
Martin, I’m assuming you have a 360 or PS3. All you do is go into your Roster Manager menu, select something along the lines of “Player Management.” This will bring you to the familiar screen of your roster, with your best overall player listed first, in decending order of overall ratings.
Say you have a 360. Look through your players for one you want to edit. Press the A button, and when the menu comes up, select “Edit Player.” There, you can edit their jersey numbers, equipment, and ratings. You can not edit their ratings while in franchise mode. You’ll have to edit your rosters, assuming you’re doing it on your own, then save a roster file to your hard drive or save device. Once you start your franchise, load your roster file (while franchise mode is active) and then save your franchise. Voila…you have a saved roster for your new franshise.

madden on ps2 is better besides the graphicsand i own a ps3 i like hearing madden when i play plus you can hide your plays unlike 360 and ps3 the game on ps2 is just more fun!
November 28, 2007 at 3:31 pm
they better move up the raiders overall team stat, there defence is to good to only go from 67 in preseason to a 68 now, plus justin fargas needs better stats, he is way better then lamont jordan, atleast make him a speed back. also fix the fact that fargas gets hurt every 3rd play in season mode. tim dwight neededs to get better stats, everytime he catches the ball and gets hit the ball goes flying out.
November 28, 2007 at 5:24 pm
to Isaiah….when you play with your buddys on 360 you can hide your play. its simple….pick your play and hold down A. it will pick that play but the screen will stay up. like if you pick a runninh play and your buddy is looking at your plays….just hold down a ona pass play and pick a run play or whichever way. i do this all the time to my brother….lol

Thanks for updating us pasta… Hopefully it will be out soon… You even brought RAC back from the dead…
November 28, 2007 at 6:51 pm
5 weeks left of the regular season, football is already almost over I don’t play Madden much when the season ends. Plus 360 has so many good games out right now and Madden isn’t one of them…
EA is overrated and I don’t plan on buying Madden until 2011 that’s when we should get one that actually works.
November 28, 2007 at 8:57 pm
I like how it take 4 months for a patch for
madden 08
November 29, 2007 at 2:36 am
Thanks Pasta for te update but I waited over a month for this patch since EA first announced it but now I feel myself being more excited about playing 2k5 on the 360 than Madden.
November 29, 2007 at 6:07 am
(favre for mvp) thats takes way to much time of going back and forth between screens to do that my buddy told me about that also, i also like hearing madden do the game when i play instead of that dum announcer and ps2 has all the jerseys how is tht???
