The whole trading card system in this game seems like an afterthought. It reminds me of the old madden days. My favorite maddens were the last few they put out for the original xbox. It seemed like they had done all they could really do with gameplay and graphics at that point and then they started throwing in the card aspects just so that there would be an additional feature each year.

However, for MLB 2K there still seems like there is some work to be done in the graphic and gameplay area. Granted, the pitching feature "looks" cool. But otherwise, with the exception of this card feature, it appears as though we are going to be getting pretty much the same game from last year with a few less quirks. I was looking forward to more...

I'll just have to be patient and reserve final judgments 'till launch day and the reviews start coming in...
I wonder how these would work, if you could just play against an opponent and set the controller down and get those 17Ks with Santana.
I'm guessing you can only earn them against the CPU because of that. Especially since they're based on difficuly level played on.

Word Up metsfan55,

Its crazy. I love my 360 and when it comes down to it, I would always prefer to buy a game for 360 as opposed to ps3. I am worried about buying a ps for this game and it basically collecting dust and playing the occasional blu-ray for the rest of its life. I keep checking sony's exclusive titles for ones that I might be interested in and are releasing in 2008 and other than The Show and SOCOM. I'm not really into the blu-ray thing (yet), so is this $400 system worth buying for the occasional ps exclusive game? And what can I say, I like the 360 controller, the achievements, my xbox live crew...etc. Tough decision.

Who Knows.

I'm not sure if anyone else has posted this link, but here it is...

http://www.vetzballin.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=91&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0

Shows the Mets at Yankees and Twins at Indians for two innings in each game.

There are a few interesting things in each video. Firstly, there are definitely more foul balls (which I am happy to see) otherwise, the batting scheme seems nearly identical to last year. The feature I am most excited about is the pitching game with the analog stick. Seems to work pretty well in the videos. It will be nice have a little more interactivity to pitching besides pressing buttons. There are also a few nice animations in the field.

A few concerns:

-Pregame is nearly identical to last year (even down to the annoying song that plays in the background!).

-Commentary repeats a ton of stuff from last year.

-In the NYY v. NYM game there are two home runs hit early in the game. I was really hoping that they fixed the all-to-frequent-homers from last year, but this remains to be seen. Keeping my fingers crossed.

-Graphics VERY reminiscent of last year. Blah.

-And finally, this might just be me, and I would like some other input. The new throwing meter actually seems to delay the play on the field. I noticed that in the NYY v. NYM game there is a definite delay and possibly a jump or framerate skip whenever the meter is involved in a play. I can see how having this feature might add to the realism of a throw (taking more time to generate more velocity) but, I just don't think it should take that much time. Professional 3rd basemen always fire the ball over to first...I don't think that should require waiting for a meter. Maybe this meter plays more into the accuracy of your throw...I'm not sure.

Right now, I only have a 360, but MLB: The Show looks sooo good. Especially the RTTS 2.0 feature. I might have to break down and get a PS3.

I'm interested to read the reviews for these two games!
Yea if you had an Onine Card Team Play night id definantly join. I havent gotten to participate in any of the other games, because im not very interested in NFL Tour, and I vowed not to ever buy an NBA Live game ever again.
And I also think this feature will be VERY cool. It will make me play with guys on the Royals, Nats, and Marlins.
IF they could just get the ratings right, I'd be soo much more happier.
Do you know if they plan on making any big differences in the out of the box update pasta?
my understanding is there will be a release day roster update. Mostly will just be the major transactions (Santana and Bedard trades). There should also be new cards (Santana and Bedard likely).
