NCAA Football 09 pre-alpha video

Even in pre-alpha stage the movement is really impressive. You can definitely see how free each animation is and how it can be broken into another at any time. The quick jukes look fantastic and could be really effective.

Over the past few years one of my biggest complaints with the football games has been the sense that they almost feel scripted. You can pretty much know what is possible to happen on a given play and there weren’t going to be any surprises. Of course the majority of big plays just have come from passes over the top of the defense on fly patterns. There has been no getting into the open field and really making an exciting play happen. So the prospective of the “anything can happen” type of gameplay is definitely exiting to me.

Dang, ncaa09 looks tight. The juke and spin isn’t as slower and you can do it right after another. Plus they added more people on the sideline and finally made the players look more realistic. Cant wait for this to come out!

The sidelines are crowded and active. The players are black this time and look like the players on the field. Mcfaddens cleats look black in the video but in the screenshot they were red. I hope the graphics improve and look like the ones from 08 and not like it came from the ps2

The animations look great, but the idea that a development team can only concentrate on one area of a game is disconcerting. All areas of gameplay should be improved.

“This year, we concentrated on…”

I hope those words aren’t spoken in upcoming interviews. It may be just marketing, but they should find a better way to talk about it.

IMO the its looking like Ps2 gameplay is a good thing. Thats exactly why I think this years game is going to be great cause they are getting rid of that next gen stiffness. And going back to the (ps2) type models where ankles bend and weight shifts.

Definitely looks like a PS2 game… I kinda have a feeling they had to degrade graphics to achieve gameplay….

Sometimes it seems like they experiment a little with NCAA before pushing ideas into Madden. With the more wide-open style of college it may not make it into Madden this year as they like to keep some things separate between the two games. Overall though I think Madden will have a strong focus on gameplay and accessibility.

Now thats what I’m talking about. I think Ea is finally starting to listen to us gamers who actually play the game. I cant wait to buy it, boy I’m gonna be broke after this year with all the great games coming out.

Looks good- but it means nothing without bowl patches, refs on the field, field goal nets, non generic bowl end zones etc. Until you have as much content as NCAA has on the last gen systems, along with the presentation, I am not buying it.
