This is actually looking pretty good to me. I say that as a 2k fan who really wasn’t impressed with the pre-game hype of previous years. It actually seems like this is the game they’ve been working on for these last 4 years, just stopping once a year to release whatever was ready at the time. (Did that make any sense?) It just seems like a LOT of worthwhile stuff added for one year’s development. I also really like that the shot of Favre looks like a quarterback. I’m playing the Rams in ‘07 and Jeff Wilkins looks like a linebacker! So it’s good that they finally redid the player models to look more realistic (like 2k had been doing for years).

madden 09 is going to be a decent game.

hip hip hooray!! hip hip hooray!! online leagues!!! my prayers have been answered.i wonder how the draft and the rest of the offseason will work with online leagues. maybe this is the reasoning behind cutting madden 09 for the computer . but im still a lil skeptic, ill use the wait and see approach

Not only do I love almost everything in that interview… I wish that I was hearing some of the exact same things about NCAA… Especially the parts about Formation subs, Rivalry game presentation, and simulated stats being more realistic! I have typically been much more into NCAA but if Madden is as advertized here I have a feeling ill be playing much more madden this year!

(Who knows… maybe ill get lucky & those things will be in NCAA but i doubt it seeing as how EA would definately advertized the rivalry game stuff by now w/ all of the attention theyre paying to “college atmosphere!”)

That might be the DUMBEST thing i have ever heard being added to a sports game. WTF? This is 2009, not 2031. I dont get what in the hell made them go all Metal Gear Solid, that has NO place in a sports simulation. If they want to give us drills, set em up so it looks like the players are going through an NFL practice.

With that said, im thrilled to hear that the presentation is truly being overhauled as the series desperately needed it. If i hear that there will different style presentations for MNF, Playoffs and the Super Bowl then count me WAYYY in. Im a big franchise guy and the franchise has been horrid since its move to the next gen consoles, im excited to see that i might actually get through a full franchise for the first time since Madden 2005.

Reading the interview with Phil Harrison makes me pull out my “skeptic hat”. It would seem that they have made monumental efforts in the “1 year” time since Madden 08.

It really makes me wonder why Madden 06,07,08 were so lack luster and flawed but all of a sudden in 09 the game will magically tranform from an ugly caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly in the same amount of production time.

What this tells me is 1 of 2 things. Either this substantiates the claims that the Madden team has been sloughing off since aquiring the exlusivity license OR this is just more EA propoganda and this game will not deliver just like its next gen predacessors.

Being a PS3 owner and a life long madden player since the original, I am hoping and praying that Phil Harrison will restore EA’s integrity and sense of quality in a well done product. If not, It might just be the fall of Roman Empire all over again.

Good Luck EA. See ya in August with my 80$ in hand.
