Facebreaker will release at lower price

It appears that Facebreaker will be the next EA Sports game to get a price reduction. This follows the releases of March Madness 08 and FIFA Street 3 ($50) and NFL Tour ($40) which all had an initial sale price lower than the standard.

Gamestop has now updated Facebreaker with the new information (“price drop” of $10) which turned out to be the first indications for those previous releases as well. As of now it looks as though Facebreaker will sell for $50 which is the same as the upcoming NFL Head Coach 09 sell for on its own.

Given that this is an arcade style game kicking off what EA would hope to become a franchise it makes a lot of sense to open it up at a lower price.  They’ve already put a great deal of effort into creating awareness around the title. Early indications seem to be that there is a lot of interest in the game so releasing at a lower price point will make it easier for those people to give it a chance. While many of the EA Sports franchises have become a yearly staple for consumers it makes new IP a challenging sell.
Lowering the price isnt going to get me to buy this game at all. Im not interesting in renting iteither from the looks of the videos theyve released for this. Ive already played the R2R series. This is a clone of that game, nothing original here. Im looking for SIM boxing.
The stuff this game pulls off isnt boxing: back flips, kicks, running up people, doing 'Crouching Tiger" moves isnt going to cut it here. It might be fun for a minute, but then after that, I can see within a week of playign this it getting stale.
I feel quite the opposite. I loved R2R and I really love the over the top boxing games. Sim boxing is about as boring as it gets and every iteration of Fight night is the same...BORING! That is why MMA has surplanted boxing as the ulimate fighting experience. MMA is quick, brutal, and exciting. Boxing is long, boring, and filled with pugilists that aren't even from this country.

Anyway I believe there is still a new fight night coming out anyway, so you will still get your sim boxing. I on the other hand will definitely take a look at this title. Seems like a good time and that is what games are susposed to be.
  • Please... looks at those other games, a lower price from EA is just them telling you its crap.

I hope online play is smooth and has quite a few features as this could be a fun game for members of community sites to play each other. That doesn't even include the GameFace feature which could make it even more hilarious to play against friends & fellow site members.
i dont know why some people feel the need to put down a game just cause they arent interested in the concept. we've seen flashes of gameplay thats about it to judge off of so far. if its not your type of game and you prefer prizefighter or fight night 4 those are on the way too. but this is a different type game and can personally be more fun for me to play.
I agree totally. I guess some people think this is their forum to spout off.

Very simple. You don't like it, or aren't interested in it, don't buy it....
