Top 25 teams in NCAA Football 09

With Operation Sports having released a video which displays team rankings and ratings I feel comfortable in going forward with listing out the top 25 teams in NCAA Football 09 (I’ll continue to hold off on the toughest places to play and top player ratings). When it comes to the actual team ratings I wouldn’t put much stock into those. I began taking them down before realizing that the numbers were different each time I viewed the team.

While the top 25 may not be finalized (LSU will probably drop) this should at least offer an idea of how the best teams in the game will fall in place.

#1 Georgia
#2 Oklahoma
#3 Ohio State
#4 USC
#5 Florida
#6 LSU
#7 Missouri
#8 West Virginia
#9 Wisconsin
#10 Texas
#11 Clemson
#12 Texas Tech
#13 Penn State
#14 Arizona State
#15 Kansas
#16 Auburn
#17 Virginia Tech
#18 Illinois
#19 Tennessee
#20 BYU
#21 South Carolina
#22 Alabama
#23 Oregon
#24 Cincinnati
#25 Wake Forest
I know Oregon had an impressive bowl win without dixon, but I don’t think they should be ranked in the top 25 seeing how bad they played in the other games without him. They also lost Jonathan Stewart and that one bowl game shouldn’t have gave them that much weight.
This is a typical answer given by someone who knows nothing about this years Oregons team. Oregon defense will be even better then it was last year. Secondly Jonathan Stewart is a loss but didnt leave Oregon empty handed. Everyone forgets a guys just as valuable as Stewart was lost early in the year, Jeremiah Johnson and he will be back along with a stud top ju-co back Blount. Were they caught off guard when they lost Dixon, yea. But when Chip Kelly got a full off season to work with Dixon, a guy everyone said shouldnt even start, he turned him into the Heisman winner.

Its always easy to spot the people who open their mouth without knowing what they are talking about

Pre-season rankings mean zero. I do like Georgia but where are my Irish? I keed, I keed….

ND is two years away. Of course, Charlie is already stirring the pot as he stated “Michigan can go to hell.” YES!!! My man…

We’ll find out how good Oregon is when they come to Ross Ade Stadium on Sept. 13 to play the Boilers. I dont care what uniform they wear, they wont win in West Lafayette.

Wanted to drop the Clemson alternate uniform screen (I believe they have two in the game) here since there have been some technical difficulties getting it up on their website today.

Rutgers will be up there by the end of this season. Everyone thinks just because ray rice is gone that theyre done but they still have teel, underwood and like 4 runningbacks that should all contribute.. Also they have a great secondary.

This is kind of off topic, but from the videos on Operation Sports, it seems like the gameplay is very arcady. Is this because it is on Varsity mode?

Excellent seeing my dawgs #1, now Moreno just needs to be one of the guys with a 99 rating.

I wouldn’t describe it that way. At least on All-American we were getting big plays, but that is college football. We did ask for some improvements to the defense to help out that side of the ball a little though because it seemed that the offense has a distinct advantage, so we’ll see how much they have adjusted it.

Also, from one of their vidoes, it looks as if most of the stadiums are in (i.e. Duke, new Stanford and Wash State). Has it been confirmed that they are all in pasta?

    Thanks,

As an Illinois fan I am not sure that they will hold that spot seeing that they lost Rashard and Juice Williams is not really a good qb.
All I have to say is I-L-L baby!!! It’s nice to see that there are people in Champbana take football seriously. I was there from ’04 – ’06 as a Grad student and I was told to sit down by this lady during a crucial 3rd down. I was pissed!

I-N-I! But seriously, Juice might not be a great QB, but he definitely getting better. As seen previously in the OSU game… he has the ability to lead the team through a hostile environment, and I think UofI has earned their spot as #18.

You might be right about the defense improving, but the quarterback and running back positions are the two mist critical positions in football. Dennis Dixon would have turned it around regardless of who the oc was because he is very athletic and also had a lot of experience. Mental errors by the quarterback will boot oregon out of the top 25 by the middle of the season, mark my words.

As an Illinois student i would like to say you have no idea what you’re talking about(respectfully of course). This offense is tailor made to Juice William’s style. Don’t forget he’s a junior now, not a 19 year old freshman or sophomore anymore.

Yeah maybe. Quarterback is still iffy, but I think we’ll be fine. Roper is battle tested as he led us in the sun bowl over a solid USF defense. Costa, the likely starter, knows the offense very well and our offensive coordinator said he has the abilities to run the offense better than dixon did… The running back situation is a non-issue. We are deeper this year than we were last year in the running back department. And our defense will be good. We have the defensive backfield to neutralize purdue’s passing attack.

If NCAA 09 can get the ratings right for BYU, BYU will be a real good team to use online. There runningback just dominates defenses himself.
