With Operation Sports having released a video which displays team rankings and ratings I feel comfortable in going forward with listing out the top 25 teams in NCAA Football 09 (I’ll continue to hold off on the toughest places to play and top player ratings). When it comes to the actual team ratings I wouldn’t put much stock into those. I began taking them down before realizing that the numbers were different each time I viewed the team.
While the top 25 may not be finalized (LSU will probably drop) this should at least offer an idea of how the best teams in the game will fall in place.
#1 Georgia
#2 Oklahoma
#3 Ohio State
#4 USC
#5 Florida
#6 LSU
#7 Missouri
#8 West Virginia
#9 Wisconsin
#10 Texas
#11 Clemson
#12 Texas Tech
#13 Penn State
#14 Arizona State
#15 Kansas
#16 Auburn
#17 Virginia Tech
#18 Illinois
#19 Tennessee
#20 BYU
#21 South Carolina
#22 Alabama
#23 Oregon
#24 Cincinnati
#25 Wake Forest

For all the Juice Williams lovers….. He is not even the best QB on his own team. Eddie McGee is better. I bet by midseason he will be the starter and Juice will be 2nd string.

Hey pasta how do the UGA blackout jersey’s look?
May 9, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Gee..i cant wait to have another season of hearing how great the SEC is….and all that team speed…Im sure Fla will have 3 losses and be the top ten cuz that treacherous ole miss..vandy…south carolina…kentucky fearsome foursome must impossible to deal with year in and year out…as for all that speed…yes the sec is fast..but that is wayyy overblown…Lsu didnt beat osu cuz they were faster..they beat osu cuz they coached and prepared better….
Nice to see UW#9- but if they dont get that QB situation under control they wont be there long sadly..
I agree Eddy McGee is maybe a better QB that Juice…no Mendenhall will hurt BIG time..

The SEC is good because they are strong, fast, and they play defense. By the way that treacherous foursome for Florida this season is actually Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, South Carolina (don’t knock SC, they’re not exactly a bad team)

I know Oregon had an impressive bowl win without dixon, but I don’t think they should be ranked in the top 25 seeing how bad they played in the other games without him. They also lost Jonathan Stewart and that one bowl game shouldn’t have gave them that much weight.
This is a typical answer given by someone who knows nothing about this years Oregons team. Oregon defense will be even better then it was last year. Secondly Jonathan Stewart is a loss but didnt leave Oregon empty handed. Everyone forgets a guys just as valuable as Stewart was lost early in the year, Jeremiah Johnson and he will be back along with a stud top ju-co back Blount. Were they caught off guard when they lost Dixon, yea. But when Chip Kelly got a full off season to work with Dixon, a guy everyone said shouldnt even start, he turned him into the Heisman winner.
Its always easy to spot the people who open their mouth without knowing what they are talking about
You might be right about the defense improving, but the quarterback and running back positions are the two mist critical positions in football. Dennis Dixon would have turned it around regardless of who the oc was because he is very athletic and also had a lot of experience. Mental errors by the quarterback will boot oregon out of the top 25 by the middle of the season, mark my words.
Wrong again, we are deeper at running back this year then we were last year. QB might still be iffy but it wont be “mental errors” like you said, it will be their rough road schedule if there is any reason they dont finish in the top 25 but they will

Anybody who says $**t about this years oregon team obviously doesnt know anything bout them… Just watch them this year wit those sweet unis and then shutup… thank you
May 10, 2008 at 10:01 am
Im not knocking SC..or the sec..they are SUPER talented and usually the best conference i agree….But What has SC really done since spurrier took over?? Not much..UT has largely disspoited lately and hasnt won many big games…Except Wisconsin::(:(:(…The top is really good..but they are more mediocre programs then SEC fans think they really are…no one fears atleast 6 maybe 7 teams in the SEC as the fans think they do…Again..not trying to ruffle feathers…I agree SEC is a really good conference..Just not as a superpower they are pecieved to be…
May 10, 2008 at 10:05 am

that new offensive scheme is the same one that auburn beat #11 Clemson with last year.

I love the Oregon fan a few posts above that says Oregon will be really good this year because they have “sweet uni’s”. I hope Purdue gets new uni’s so that they can win the national title because I guess that is all you need to be really good…… By the way, most of Oregon’s 1,532 uniforms are freakin ugly!

if you actually bothered to read what he wrote, he said they had sweet unis and didnt say thats why theyd do well. Dont worry when Oregon comes to Purdue by the end of the game youll know how good they are when they leave with a win
May 11, 2008 at 12:34 pm
Pasta I am excited that FSU has there unconquered jerseys in the game. I noticed that they weren’t in the top 25 (they don’t deserve it yet) but their team ratings are really high ala high 80’s 90’s. That is better than than a lot of teams in the top 25. Why does EA do that?

Did i say they were gona win cuz they had sweet unis dip$**t? (and yes purdue should get new unis cuz those things are freakin ugly!) and on sept 13, 2008 ur boilermakers(watever that is??) are gone get destroyed… and it wont be close… sry
May 11, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Wow, please don’t call Purdue’s uniforms ugly. That really hurts my feelings. Dennis Dixon is not there to save Oregon this year. Oregon is one of the most overrated programs in the country year in and year out. Seriously look into their history and tell me what they have done. Their last Rose Bowl was 1995 when they got hammered by a big ten school, Penn State. Phil Knight sponsorship can get you a million uniforms and publicity, but it doesnt mean you are a great program like Ducks fans think!…. In all honesty, Purdue will be an average team this year. But I highly doubt Oregon comes in and dominates. It’ll be a good game.
May 11, 2008 at 5:34 pm
As an Illinois fan I am not sure that they will hold that spot seeing that they lost Rashard and Juice Williams is not really a good qb.
are u retared or something just because most white qbs cant move that makes juice a bad qb because he can run and throw
May 11, 2008 at 6:59 pm
Ummm… if its a good game between purdue and oregon then oregon played bad… and oregons quarterback this year (costa)fits in perfect with oregons offense… he will make ppl forget bout dixon… and nobody ever talks bout oregon so how are they always overated??
May 11, 2008 at 7:01 pm
Apparently you forget about Chris Chambers..Lee Evans..Owen Daniels..Casey Rabach…Ross Kolodzei..Mark Tauscher..???
I hate to admit this but i grew up and still am a Miami fan..and i realize that as true talent UW cant stack up with the miami greats..but to not recognize them as a one of the top 2-3 programs in the big ten is plain ignorant and shows your lack of knowledge for college football..tradition wise there not OSU or Michigan or even Penn St…but if Tradition started in 93…itd be hard to find that many teams with more success and a better bowl record then UW..thats just the truth..not fan speak…
They are soo underated in BOTH football AND basketball its not even funny..and its all cuz before the 90’s hit they were abysmal..but its time to start recognizing..
And you should be proud to be a miami fan….they will be back this year i predict…as long as Robert Marve is the QB…peace
May 11, 2008 at 8:09 pm
I love the “we played bad” excuse. Especially in football. You can play bad in basketball or baseball, but not football. If you lose, you just got beat. Simple as that. Anyways, I’m excited for this game and we’ll see what happens Sept. 13. Should be a good 2 year series between Oregon and Purdue.
May 11, 2008 at 8:51 pm
I really don’t know why people have ranked the Ducks so high. Yes I think they deserve it, but nobody justifies it (except saying that Blount did well this spring). Nate Costa is not perfect for our offense, but he has the competitive drive and skills to get it done. I really know nothing about Purdue except Curtis Painter did well last year (basing that off of others’ views and his stats). But the Ducks are good this year. I’ll be surprised if they lose more than 3 games. GO DUCKS!
May 12, 2008 at 8:14 am
Illinios would have been much better if Mendenhall had stayed, but #18 seems like a good spot because they play in the overrated Big Ten. I love Georgia this year, but isn’t it questionable that they’re number one? Top 5 definitely, but top overall is iffy. LSU and West Virginia should be a bit lower. Why is Cinicinnati on that list? Who outside of Ohio can name three players on their team without pulling up a separate window and searching their roster? I’ll throw a team out there for you- keep an eye out for Stanford to make some noise, despite their tough conference. Not top 25 material, of course, but I thought I’d just throw that out there.
May 12, 2008 at 8:48 am
Badger boy, chew on this…
Wisconsin has been to as many BCS Bowl games this decade as Penn State, Illinois and Iowa.
May 12, 2008 at 9:44 am
Hey pasta…when do you think you’ll be releasing the top player ratings by position?
May 12, 2008 at 11:07 am
Train..chew on this..only a stupid rule kept them from being in there 2 years ago….they were VERY deserving and handled a supposed better Arkansas team that year in the capital one…
Anyway fans from other teams wanna slice it..you cannot ignore reality..and that is UW is a legit big time program now..and way more consistent then Ill..Iowa..and even Penn st….Its not me saying that ..its FACT…im not a Badger homer..just cuz im a fan..im a realist too..im not saying were OSU or ever will be…just saying they are underated..and produce and and develop players as good as anyone in the nation..remember UW doesnt get players to come there like ND..USC…Miami..etc…but they arent far off from those players either..check out rivals someday…a good majority of those big time players have UW in their top 5..its only a matter of time and a few more good years before they get those guys..in my opinion…i could be proved wrong..time will tell..
May 12, 2008 at 6:57 pm
the University of California Berkely AKA Cal has been lower in the top 25 for NCAA Football for the last 4 years compared to the preseason poles this year there not in it understanable but whach come December top 25

And one of those 3 losses wont be against purdue… i guarentee it
May 13, 2008 at 12:43 pm
It’s pretty funny how some are you banging on the SEC and how they aren’t that elite. The SEC this year will probably be as good as it ever will be and very capable of having more than half the conference in the top 25 at one time. And for the genius that says UT or Auburn won’t be good or doesn’t belong in the top 25, go visit any sports site and look at their post-spring top 25 and they are in all of them.
Cal Bear Fan: Just Stop. Please stop. you are embarrassing yourself. Yeah you beat Tennessee last year, yeah it was no where no near the a$$ beating you took in Neyland the year before. Your team peaked in your first game and then you went 6-6. Tennessee wasn’t good early but improved throughout the year unlike your team. Yeah I’m sure you guys would have blownout what ended up being the #2 team in the country. You guys would’ve run through the SEC East I’m sure.
May 13, 2008 at 7:02 pm
Hey Cal fan… ummm just please shutup… please!!… i have never heard of any body u just said and guess wat?? Oregon’s gona come to ur place nxt year and kick cal’s a$$ (and dont mention anything bout last year cuz u no it was a HUGE fluke and the ducks shouldev won that game)so just one last time… shutup!!

UofOregonDucks, I’d love to bet you on the Purdue-Oregon game, but unfortunately I dont bet with 12 year old kids. If you are going to start arguments that is cool, but have some fact and dont make excuses every time Oregon loses(see posts above).
May 15, 2008 at 7:01 pm
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Is Oregon in the top 25? yes… is Purdue in the top 25? no… so who do u think is favored in that game?? Oregon… and Oregon wont loose… simple as that
May 16, 2008 at 5:33 am
Let’s bet on it then. “simple as that”
May 16, 2008 at 8:23 pm

May 21, 2008 at 9:26 am
I think the Illini deserve a # 18 spot..everybody is so caught up in whether JUICE can throw or not and i think that he will have his bad days and then have some really good days…but what most people dont realize is that they are going to have one of the top 5 defenses in the country!..and that is why teams like TENN and Arkansas are not above them and another thing..people keep saying that we have lost a star in Rashard Mendenhall..well that may be true..but there were like only ten seniors on the whole team last year..so top 5 defense with a very talented and rapidly maturing team…lol have fun playing us
May 21, 2008 at 3:57 pm
It’s a sad day when my Wolverines aren’t in the top 10, I agree we don’t deserve right now but we will earn our place back into in college football’s elite program!
