I decided to compile as much of the content as I could find coming out of the community event last week that covered Madden 09, NCAA Football 09, and NFL Head Coach 09. I will continue adding to the list as they come in. Continue on to find links to the content here as well as other community sites in attendance.

I’m really impressed with EA, they’re interacting with the community a lot this year. They’re actually changing things before release that the community has asked about.
June 2, 2008 at 6:01 pm
I wonder if all this is because Phil Frasier and everyone got a chance to finally really work with the game and everyone. Do you think if David Ortiz was the Producer still we would get all this info and have EA really listen to us.

Hey Pasta,
Ive never posted here but I visit all the time, you do a great job giving me my Madden and NCAA fix before the games come out. Thank you for that.
I just wanted to see if you could find something out for me… Im a big Edgerrin James fan… but every year, I buy the new Madden and Edgerrin James with the longest dreads ive ever seen. It bugs the heck out of me, to the point, I dont like playing with my favorite player. He hasn’t had dreads since 2002. If you have a chance, could you please find out if I have endure another season of that. And if you can please let someone know, that he doesnt have dreads anymore… it might sounds stupid, i know, but I really cant take it anymore, it kills me…I see all these uniform adjustments, and “authentic player models”… and they put Full Dreads on player who doesnt even have them in his picture in the game.
Please Pasta.. help me out man, My Madden 09 season is on the line.
June 2, 2008 at 6:20 pm
Thanks Pasta.
Russell, if you read this, I’ve posted some questions for you in your “franchise impressions” thread.
Please answer whatever you can, thanks.

Russell excellent stuff. Great read. After reading your stuff I am more excited about Madden in ‘10 knowing that online franchise will be in. I agree with you 100% that the interaction with the Community is the best it has ever been. Many props to the Tiburon guys for improving the interaction with the community sites.

I must say the players stats in Franchise have gone from too high to too low. Oh well……will they ever get it right?
June 2, 2008 at 7:23 pm
i think the stats are pretty good…my only problem is with the still high QB ratings…and the UNUSUALLY high QB completion percentages…74% completion percentage for the season by Tony Romo…are you kidding me? that’s not even possible…at least 6 players with completion percentages above 68%…please tell me this will get tweaked…

Yes if you read the producer article I did last year Ortiz was saying a lot of the same things

That’s a great point that nobody has brought up yet. Why don’t they just give us the ability to edit the whole player(hairstyles, body weight, etc..) like they did in last gen? That would be a simple fix for that. I appreciate EA being so interactive with us consumers & making all of these last minute adjustments but it makes me question the developers if things so obvious as excessive camera flashing & wrong player uniforms make it past them. I mean afterall they get paid the big bucks to catch these flaws before release, not us consumers.
June 2, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Great work Russ!
Any chance you know if the EA locker will be in ‘09 so we can have online chises, share NCAA draft classes, rosters, etc….?
Thank you!

Hey Pasta, another thing I forgot to ask you is that you know how when the quaterback is escaping the pocket & running towards the sidelines? Well he doesn’t look up field towards the receivers. He will stare at the sidelines & at the last second look up field to throw. His eyes & head should be facing up field looking for the open receiver, not looking towards the sidelines. This has always been a annoying to me. I know they stated that the quaterback pocket movement has improved, but from the looks of the videos it doesn’t look like they’ve addressed that. Have you heard any talk about improving that?

Thanks for listing all the resources.
Just wondering if you or anyone else who attended the event asked about when/if they will add all the stadiums plus add bowl patches and proper endzone logos?
Thanks,
June 3, 2008 at 9:08 am
Thanks for putting this together, Pasta. Pretty helpful as your coverage continues to be great. I’m encouraged and am glad they are being more pro-active this year. Don’t mind that they didn’t touch the franchise mode too much this year and focused on gameplay, but I do hope they redesigned the draft and trading a little bit.

Hey Pasta, I agree that while much (much much much) better this year, the statistics, specifically, the high qb ratings and completion percentage, should be tweaked but I fear it may already be to late, is there any way you might still be able to suggest it to the producers with the amount of time left? I hope so, appreciate the hard work

Does anybody know if on NCAA, if on the “Recruiting Board” screen that committed players will automatically be moved to the bottom of your list, that was very annoying to have to change every single week.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t the NFL just institute a new rule prohibiting players from having long hair sticking out from the helmets. This would negate the entire argument b/c even if a player did have dreads, he would have to keep it under his hat.
I think this problem will resolve itself.
June 3, 2008 at 12:28 pm
Pasta, i saw in one of the reviews from the ea community event
that the producers said that they had added some qb specific stats. like long, medium, and short throw accuracy. but then in RUSSELL05’s impressions, he said that there will be no new stats for the qb’s. So which one is it? Thanks in advance.

i didnt remember which review said they added the qb stats but here it is in RUSSELL05’s Deeper Look at 09 vs 08 with Producers he said
“then he stated (talking about ian) that more ratings for the QB position are in the books for 09. You remember the ratings from Head Coach. Throw accuracy short, medium, and deep, throw on the run etc…. Ian is trying to get all of those ratings in the game and then some. I was very happy to hear this indeed.”
but then RUSSELL05 says “One of my favorite subjects to talk with developers about has always been player ratings and the way they effect game play. With that I’m always extremely happy to report when they either add new ones or tweak the existing system. I only get to talk about the latter since no new ratings where added this year.” in his impressions article. So RUSSELL05 or Pasta do they have qb specific stats in Madden 09
June 3, 2008 at 1:48 pm
I waited almost the whole weekend to get Russel’s impressions of the Franchise mode and all it boils down to is that there is a blog coming soon (knew that already), he played a whole season, and the game froze.
He doesn’t give any actual in-depth information on what Franchise mode feels like, how it plays, or answering any of the 1000’s of questions that people on this board have been asking about Franchise mode for weeks.
The whole post is some pics of various end of the season screens. While it is a nice way to show off the stats, I would have loved a lot more information on how the actual franchise plays.
Missed opportunity.
June 3, 2008 at 1:50 pm
LOL That’s how I felt. I mean all anyone had to say is it froze just before the offseason and I would’ve stopped inquiring but instead we got more of what we already knew.

There are no new ratings for the QB position this year in Madden 09 I explained why they didn’t add any new ones in both articles.

i understand the limitations, when there are 55 guys on a team, and 35 of them have visible tatts.
that being said, they are part of the experience and it wouldn’t be hard to add generic tattoos for different types: a sleave, a forearm, a bicep.
as for aceoye4: shut up. people want different things from their football game. most want realism. this is part of realism.

hmmm… sorry about my earlier “shut up” comment. it was meant for jonathan, not aceoye4. i was trying (unsuccessfully) to defend aceoye.
tattoos are not the most important thing, but generic tattoos wouldn’t be hard to do, and really would not use very much memory. tattoos=part of the experience.
shoe laces do not, and to compare them to tattoos is simply stupid.

I can’t even imagine playing 08 anymore. Though that is usually the case when you play a new version of all the sports games, its even more pronounced with the two versions of Madden.

I was psyched about Head Coach but after hearing the online is in Gamecast format that really took brought my excitement down considerably whats up with the half a** approach EA?!?! You’ll make the game better but leave out a key feature not too many people play games on the same console so online has to be on point!!! Come on thats gotta change Pasta you gotta let em know ONLINE PLAY IS WHERE ITS AT!!! For the love of God its 2008
