Kevin Garnett is the NBA 2K9 cover athlete

As revealed prior to the start of game one of the NBA Finals, Kevin Garnett is the cover athlete for NBA 2K9. He follows a year in which Chris Paul had the cover and turned out an MVP caliber season. Garnett has helped lead the Celtics to the best record in the NBA and the appearance in the Finals.
Considering that the announcement was made in conjunction with the Finals many people assumed that to mean it would be be one of the likely participants. Garnett was the most likely choice given Kobe Bryant’s ties to Sony and omission from the list of players to choose from on the 2K9 website. Garnett previously was on the cover of NBA Live 2001.

This means that every person that was on other companies covers in the past , could mean that any player is virtually possibly to be on the cover of Live 09.Im going for Pierce or Kobe.Maybe Lebron.If EA Sports want to make a splash, i gotta go with Kobe Pierce or Lebron

Through that commercial you could see a graphical upgrade in 2k9 but I hope they get rid of all those lead passes and add better shot blocking animations

It was long enough ago that people won’t identify Garnett with Live. It seems like a good choice to me, a respected established leader who is very recognizeable.

only at padre would there be so much nitpicking and crying like little girls. KG is the cover boy. Its a solid pick, nothing to argue, and the graphics are early build and look great. Stop with all the bashing and little stupid comments trying to be funny or relevant. There is no way to bash this selection. Cant for one time all the childish comments can be cut to a minimum. The ball? are you serious, what about the fact his fingers(not hands) grabbed the rim, you missed that? Padre please school your followers early on this one, so they do go off bashing a good title, like they do with every 2k game on your site.
When you speak they listen, so ‘tell’ them what to think, they will follow you and repeat what you post on other websites.
NBA 2K rules. always have since dreamcast it was a better game of basketball, no reason to change now.

I agree with the idea that there should be some subdued dunk animations. It would look better when guys like Rondo dunked like a high school player and not Dr.J. I would also like there to be better layup animations and less missed layups. If a layup is ever adjusted, it looks crazy.

Put Kelly Tripucka on the cover. 2K’s hoop game hasn’t improved since its first trip to the 360….And I have a strong inclination with the infrastructure at 2K getting a little salty that the game will be a port from 2K8 with new rosters…

you must me 13 years old? It wasn’t Labron for obvious reasons, like there are players in the FINALS like Garnette and Kobe.
Stop watching so much ESPN which spends the better part of the season trying to convince everyone James is already at Jordans level. Garnette is a good choice even though I’m a huge Kobe fan. KG is the right choice considering what he has done for Boston in just a year.

exactly i mean no disrespect to chris paul but he was sure not the best player last year but even though his team did not make the playoffs though, after the hurricane you know he kinda gave new orleans hope so a big reason why he was chosen

I liked the Odom idea for the live09 cover. Comparing Garnett to Odom, its like 2k to Ea.
What I have noticed so far, KGs face is amazing, even if it doesnt mean much, hopefully made by the engine of the game, it reminds me to the newest Nvidia tech-demo.
The video is way too short unfortunatelly, but Rays face did not change much since 2k8, but Bryants face looks much better, if You are asking me.
The dunk motion is just average, watching this video is like playing with 2k8, hopefully the upcoming videos are gonna change my opinion.

Stop nitpicking about the graphics. I had 2k8 last year, and my friends convinced me that live 08 was better, so I got that. The graphics, and realisticness of gameplay was such a downgrade. 2k has them in both of these catagories. The graphics in live 08 were pathetic, all the players faces looked the same, and the gameplay was terrible. CANT WAIT FOR 2K9

This may come off a little extreme, but 2K8 was easily the most realistic, fun sports game I’ve ever played.
Even after 5 months of play, I’m still seeing new animations, and you never play the same game twice. I love pastapadre, but 2K8 blows Live out of the water.
