The demo for NCAA Football 09 is now available for the Xbox 360 and as of this afternoon it is up for the PS3. The demo features LSU vs Ohio State and a mascot game with the Gators vs Longhorns. Both games have two minute quarters and are played on varsity difficulty level.

Feel free to leave your impressions of the demo in the comments or discuss the game in the forum. I’ll be posting up some videos from the demo this evening along with thoughts in general after the significant hands-on time I’ve gotten out of the two community events.

It’s not XBOX Live its your internet connection, you need to definitely upgrade, it only took me 20 minutes with COMCAST, you must have AT&T or A.O.L.

  • kbshowtyme

Great game but alot of INTs………second game was very enjoyable

  • tgreek

i don’t know why everyone is saying the running game is horrible

i got 140 yards off of like 4 carries adn 2 TDs with LSU’s runningback

  • Mike

Yea, If madden plays as good as this I will be very very happy. It’s finally taking a leap forward. And according to Pasta if we like this we will love madden. I’m holding you to it. ;)

    YES!!

    it’s finally up for ya!

  • Mike

Hey, got a glitch I’d to like to see playing as LSU defense and commited pass interference then intercepted the ball. Ref announced it as offensive pass interference. I think that was in last years also but not really sure. I know minor but just thought id point it out.

  • I Peench

I mean, visually its pretty awesome. It runs really smooth but is clearly not without its faults. Overall, I find the running to be harder and the passing to be easier (compared to 08). I liked the balance more last year. I’m usually a pound it out on the ground guy, so im getting frustrated with how many times DL are morphing into me when I see a gaping hole. The screens are much easier and effective which is awesome. I see people complaining a lot over at OS…pretty dissapointing because this is still a vast improvement over 08.

Bottom line: If this exact same game was entitled ESPN College Football 2K8, everybody would be declaring this the best football game ever made. I say that as someone who is much more partial to the 2K sports series (minus baseball).

  • T-Dogg

    Madden 09 will own NCAA

  • Stephen

The demo was good. The passing felt great, when letting the ball go, it seemed to jet right to the receiver. Fun!

  • Dre

Man I truly love this game. Way way better than the past years versions.

  • Ill Will From College Hills

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! ITS GONNA TAKE TIME TO PERFECT JUKING WITH THE LEFT STICK BUT ITS GOT ME PSYCHED ABOUT MADDEN IT REALLY FELT LIKE PLAYING A NEXT GEN FOOTBALL GAME NOT JUST LAST GEN UPDATED.

  • Juilo

wow really fun i gotta get used to the cuts and stuff but so amazingly fun and graphics are 1100% better same as gameplay

  • Dre

Now we need a Madden demo.

  • Jamin

how is the crowd in the game and cut scenes and sidelines?
Oh and one other thing, it’s kind of sucks that they don’t have progressive lighting & shadowing to go along with the lighting improvements. This is the only aspect that took a step backwards. Progressive lighting really gives you the feeling that you’re playing in a live breathing enviornment. Not nitpicking but that really stood out in the demo because it’s set for 6:00pm & I loved how in last years game it would gradually turn into a nightime game. FYI EA, once a feature like this is in the game, YOU CAN NOT TAKE IT OUT THE FOLLOWING YEAR!
If I remember correctly the Demo for 08 did not have progressive lighting but the full game did.

PASTA!!!! Please, When you played at the events was there progressive lighting? I agree that it adds to the realism and would be a big step backwards for me. I remember when I got Madden 08 I was wonering why it didnt have progressive lighting but NCAA did.

  • Ill Will From College Hills

CROWD IS ABOUT THE SAME BUT ON THE FIELD WITH THE ROUTES BEING JUMBLED IT MAKES THE ENVIROMENT FEEL HOSTILE AND KINDA PUTS YOU ON EDGE IT REALLY FEELS LIKE A COLLEGE GAME THOUGH WITH THE CHEERLEADERS FLIPPING AROUND THE MASCOTS DOING THE THRILLER STUFF LIKE THAT

  • Jamin

cool!! i watch few college games but i just want the atmosphere

  • Ill Will From College Hills

I FEEL THAT I THINK IT DELIVERS WHEN BALLS ARE TIPPED YOU GOT GUYS DIVING FOR IT PICKING IT UP TRYING TO RUN THE OTHER WAY I NOTICE SOMETHING NEW EVERYTIME I PLAY

  • MannyBeltre

Only three percent to go! Just got back, but I bet this will take another fifteen at least.

  • pat

the thing i really liked was when a qb got blind sided it looked so real in 08 the qb like knew he was there right before he hit him but in 09 he has no idea and thers a good chance of a fumble

  • cyrus

anyone notice the ball doesn’t seem to spiral?!

  • MannyBeltre

One percent to go, the anticipation is building.

I have been looking forward for this game for months, it’s at an all time high. I can see a lot of time being put in this demo.

Yea dude Pasta already confirmed that there was no progressive lighting this year in both NCAA & Madden. He said that they weren’t able to get that far with the new lighting system. This is a big disappointment for me. Some people don’t care & will think it’s nitpicking but my point is that it’s a typical EA move..One step forward two steps backwards..I’m not trying to bash EA & I love the game this year but sometimes I question their priorities. Refs, chaingangs, & progressive lighting should’ve been amongst the 1st things added this year. But oh well, no use crying over spilled milk. Hopefully the gameplay & atmosphere will keep me so engaged that I won’t think about the important things that were left out.

  • Jamin

    what is progressive lighting??
