While going through the folder with all the videos I took at the Football Community Event I came across a handful that I hadn’t posted (most of the past videos can be found through here). These feature basic gameplay with Browns @ Cowboys and Seahawks @ Rams along with more Superstar mode footage as Jonathan Stewart.

Continue on to watch the four most recently added videos.

    pasta,

u sound like the guy from knocked up on the first vid

  • Di5P4tCh

around 2:05 in the second video, you see 2 random ass people on the field..please tell me EA will fix that because that could ruin this game

  • pastapadre

That was fixed before we even left the studio that day.

Thanks again, Padre. I hate to be a sucker but I feel a real anticipation for ’09. Damn, I really want to play this game. Those videos look nice.

Question: which level were you all playing on?

The running lanes were noticeably wide against zones.

And the receivers really had to focus to catch passes–nothing spectacular or unrealistic about their receptions.

I played the NCAA demo, btw, and was happy to find that the precision passing worked. This seems to bode well for ’09. (The current installment of Madden has the worst passing engine of any football game I’ve ever played.)

Here’s to EA, their new customer friendly approach may have turned out a good product. I hope they deliver. :)

Is it just me or is Marion Barber dreadless in this game?

  • Reggie

Hey Pasta. In those Madden vids, is that the default camera angle?

Yes, but also consider that my camera wasn’t getting the full screen when you watch those.

pasta on the sehawks-rams video when the ref was saying that the call stands why was there a coach behind him in the middle of the field

  • ryan

I’m really liking Chris Collinsworth doing madden commentary.

    perhaps they are replacement officials…haha…

when i first heard the announcment that chris collinsworth would be doing the color commentary for madden…i was not happy AT ALL…he is the most annoying individual in real life…but he has done a TREMENDOUS job on every video i have seen thus far of madden…i am pleasantly surprised…and not afraid to admit that i was clearly wrong about him in the game…

    Cant wait for Madden.

  • Stroehms

WOW! The things that popped out to me were:

Way better sidelines. I’m diggin it.
How realistic the players looked. I can’t wait to get this game.

    ABOUT THE MARION BARBER DREDS:

NFL made a rule that they had to tuck the dreds into their helmet.
So it could be implemented here but I doubt it since Steven Jackson has his dreads.

  • Florian

    hey pasta,

is there a possibility in the game to disable the control help beneath the player? (for example R1 for Sprint)

greetings from germany and thank you!

To my knowledge, the rule hasn’t been approved as of yet. And yes, like you have said, other players do have their dreads. In the small amount of photos/vids I’ve seen featuring Marion Barber, his dreads haven’t been there. It’s not a game killer for me, but I am heavily into detail and will be disappointed if they had it right this past year and then muff it up for 2009. If we could still edit hairstyles, it would not be a problem at all.

Pasta you said that the score overlay didn’t really get in your way when playing but after watching a few videos it looks like it might get it the way during long passing plays. I watched Manning throw a bomb to Harrison in the Bills vs Colts video & the score overlay completely blocked the view of the ball whle it was in the air & you couldn’t tell where the ball was going to drop until the last second. When playing the game did you notice any problems like that?

I never noticed it getting in the way, I didn’t hear anyone else comment that it bothered them either.

Yes those can be turned off. If I remember right on the highest play style they are automatically off.

pasta do you know if EA is going to release a Madden demo before Aug 12????

  • MoteLLparty

pasta been asking around forever and no one seems to know if you have the ability to edit positions…have you yourself been able to find out?

  • pastapadre

Nothing concrete on that yet but they’re working towards it. We’d be looking at more like the usual week before release compared to the month before NCAA got.

I didn’t look to see if you could but I believe that’s a feature only in Head Coach.

  • Ryan

Anybody else think Tom Hammond sounds like a robot whose voice doesn’t go with the flow of the game at all??? I think I might have to play this game with the mute button on.

yeah he puts no excitement or emphasis into his commentanting hate to say it but the ea radio announcer was better than him

  • T-Dogg

Collinsworth is descent Hammond is to boring

  • Josh

Looks like they still haven’t fixed the footsliding with the quaterback sliding into center. Not a major deal but just one of the little things that needs to be touched up. Every year with the exception of last year you see the quaterback sliding into center. I don’t know why it’s so hard to fix that. It’s even more noticable in NCAA. Just one of my issues that I’ve complained about since making the switch to Next Gen, not trying to nitpick. Game looks great but I’m still waiting to see one of the more later builds to see if some of the issues have been corrected especially those excessive camera flashes. They should completely tone them down to maybe a hand full during a regular game & have them be excessive during the Super Bowl. That would add to making the Super Bowl feel important. I don’t know why EA didn’t think of that when they 1st came up with the idea of camera flashes. Seems like an obvious fix to me.

Do you know how importing ncaa legend will work, and if we will be able to change the appearance of our superstar if it muffs the height/weight/race up?

  • lwilkins

Will Madden 09 have accessories like in NCAA Football 08 and 09 (QB Rib Protectors, smaller QB wristbands, different style Horse-Collars or Neck-Rolls)? I have seen these included on the new NCAA Football demo, just hoping that the Madden team included this.

  • IIAMLEGEND

Hey PaStA have they added a button where you can just lower your head and drive your feet. When real life HB’s protect the ball they usually lower their heads and cover up the ball. Like you know to make the dives more realistic in short situations instead of just leaving their feet all the time to dive they should lower their head and push. I’m not really sure if you understand what I mean

  • IIAMLEGEND

One more thing have they fixed the QB AI on superstar? When I play HB the QB threw at least 5 or 6 picks a game and I was the back for guys like palmer and rothels berger it was really rediculous

I only played a limited amount but both the QB decision making and the play calling seemed to have improved.

I don’t think the cover the ball function has changed.

pasta…i’ve suggested over on the OS boards to Iain/EA that they darken the route lines(as viewed during preplay) a bit, especially the yellow lines as they can get a bit tough to see against the field sometimes. in these videos, it appears they may have done so. did you notice any difference?

i ask because in the NCAA demo, some of the yellow route lines are tough to see against the field.

    thanks.

  • IIAMLEGEND

I’m one of the few pocket passers in this game and i dont see why the WR’s get way more open if a QB runs out of the pocket every down. If anything their accuracy should decrease when they are on the run. I’ve lost games b cuzz the player would just run around 4 ever and kill my zone with hb flat routes where the safeties fail to play them. I hope DE awareness increased or they at least have a DE contain hot route.
Also on all madden does it still feel like the game makes you get sacked or throw an interception sometimes. I dont know if i’m the only one who feels that or not.
Thx for answering my other questions bro I’m so much more excited about superstar now.

  • josh

marion barber doesnt have dreads!?!? thats lame hes had them in the other games and everyone has theres so far they better fix that or im going to be way dissapointed
