Out today for NBA Live 09 Community Event

UPDATE: Unfortunately we have been asked to hold back on posting details from the event until sometime next week. I’ll have a ton of info and impressions to share at that point.

I expect to be away from the computer for most of the day due to the NBA Live 09 Community Event. The schedule is packed full of play time along with producer presentations and interaction. The NBA Draft follows and I’m unsure if I will have an online connection during that time. Continue to drop any thoughts or suggestions you’d like me to consider here and I may be able to take note of them.

In the meantime check out some of the latest screenshots for the game in the gallery, most of which are not very inspiring and one in particular that is terrible. Visuals have been one of the strengths of the Live series the last few years so it is worth noting that the images that EA has released for 09 are not impressing to the same extent. In the end though the more important thing will be how it all comes together during gameplay.

Thank Jesus we need more info like NOW.....I just hope the gameplay is better. I mean it obviously got better in 08 but it still couldnt compare to 2k8. All I ask for is more signature dunks, more REAL go to moves, (cuz 80% of the players with them had some kind of turnaround jumper) and smoother animations. The graphics are there, we just need gameplay.

I was just informed that "Canada Day" is today, which explains why I haven't gotten any updates as to when we'll be cleared to talk about the event. I should know more tomorrow.

can u please tell da nba live 09 producers that the ratings need 2 be a little higher like in live 08 role players like jason terry and corey maggette had like an 80 rating i think great role players deserve about an 83 or 84 please address thiz 2 the producers

yo pasta i think monta ellis is way underrated he is the fastest playa in the nba and his shot in live sucks he cant make a midrange shot worth nuthn please tell the produrcers 2 address this and his rating should be at least an 89 in live 09 hes up and coming allstaer and will soon be the leader of the warriors so please tell the producers 2 make his rating change higher because i and oter ppl im sure think he should be better in nba live 09

Anyway, i wonder what kind of editing stuff they've added thanks to guys like me and playmakers....

I meant to say is that does NBA Live 09 beat NBA 2K8 animations wise, last year 2K8 beat Live in the animations aspect of the games. Never anything against Live I am one of the biggest NBA Live fans.

I'll have a way to look at that, but more from the perspective of Live 09 vs 08. I'm never going to make a comparison between Live and 2K.

We'll be able to provide much, much greater detail on the feature than will be made at the initial announcement or from any media site.

If he reveals the "groundbreaking" feature before the embargo date, EA will probably stop inviting him to community events and maybe even stop communicating with him at all.

None of us who were at the event are allowed to talk about what we saw yet but that has nothing to do with the quality of what we saw but rather attorneys and the long arm of civil law. We were all told we'd be under embargo for about a week, with the "ground-breaking feature" to be kept under wraps until after the E3 announcement.

I've also got to give it up to Pasta for being the comeback king, as he once again took down my Bulls with his Sonics in the fourth quarter of our rematch from last year.

Kardishpride, silly question to Pasta, obviously he thinks that even NBA Live 06 was better, than 2k8.

Watching the pictures, I do not know, what EA is doing. It is another game, I would call "skinny rag-dolls hanging down on a rope", aka marionett.

they need 2 make player bodies and FACES seriously bad way better and please tell them 2 make monta ellis way better hes 2 underated his ratn should be at least an 87 based on the season he had and he is the fastest player in the nba. last is there goin 2 be a new shot macanic for the game cuz i heard it will be eaiser 2 shoot the ball now thnx

The collars, they are all messed up. Take a look at the very first screenshot of your own NBA Live gallery here on the site. The one wich Parker is guarded by West. The collars are all weird. That happened with the majority of the 3rd uniforms in NBA Live 08 (Hornets, Pacers, Bulls, Lakers, Suns, Sonics, just to name a few). Please take a moment to boot up the game and see the bug for yourself. I don't think they are fully aware of it. Just like with Madden, we as part of the community must make an effort to fix that. I haven't had much chance to look at the jerseys in the screens. Can you tell me what exactly is wrong with them and I'll add them to my list of suggested improvements I'm sending in? Thanks

Pasta, please spread the word on the messed up jerseys. I' ve already warned Julien Carron (presentation and visuals producer) on the official NBA Live forum and he gave me his word that he was aware of that. But those new screenshots are scaring me to death. Besides, this has nothing to do with the new clothing engine. NBA Live 08 had the same problem with 3rd uniforms. Please Bryan, make an extra effort on this, the game MUST not ship that way. Thanks.

I love this site, but I'm not excited at all about Live 09. I was a huge ea guy until around 2003 when it seems that at least on the basketball side they dropped the ball(pun intended). I still play Madden and NCAA religiously but Live is just bad. Just had to get that out.

first of all the screen shots look terrible but that does not tell whether the game is good or bad i just hope that it has updated arena names like the izod center and more alternate and throwback jerseys like the sixers red alternate jerseys and also new presentation like madden steve kerr is not an anouncer anymore he is gm with the suns but it is early in development
