The lineup for E3 is taking shape and both EA Sports and 2K Sports have named the games that will be on hand. EA will have NCAA Football 09, Madden 09, Tiger Woods 09, Facebreaker, and NBA Live 09 on display. 2K will be bringing NBA 2K9 and NHL 2K9. E3 runs from the 15th-17th, but the big feature news will be coming out of EA’s press conference on the Monday the 14th.
More on Facebreaker has recently made its way out. Gamespot has a hands-on preview as does IGN with a pre-E3 preview (including video) and there is a producer video blog on the game’s official site. Finalized box art has been released and the 360 marketplace has received themes and gamerpics.
In Pastapadre Online Dynasty news, a poll for voting on which week one game will be deemed the Game of the Week will be coming this weekend. There are some good ones to choose from. The GOTW will be have its own independent recap outside of the regular full dynasty recap. A dedicated forum for the dynasty is now open and will be the way you can keep up with the latest between the “weekly” updates.
The news of the Sonics leaving was devastating. I have to move on though and have the poll below to take suggestions on what team I should root for from now on. I’ve narrowed my consideration down to just the five teams listed.
Being from Tampa, I gotta tell you that the Magic is the team to be cheering on in the future. Howard is a beast and will only get better. If he isn’t already he will soon be the most dominant big man in the NBA.

Hey Pasta I am from Seattle and live in Seattle and have lived in Seattle my whole life. And I am absolutley devestated as a huge Sonics fan and sports fan I’m young to 17 but I have great memories of the Sonics nothing in Seattle Sports history can compete with the Sonics giving the Bulls a run for there money except for the Sonics championship.
I have to say that I cant really be a true fan of another team but if there is one team I will support in absence of the Sonics its the TrailBlazers.
I’m a huge Brandon Roy fan met him when he was at UW also met Martell Webster while he was getting ready for the draft his uncle lived next to me and he was real cool.Plus Portland is like Seattes neighbor and Paul Allen who owns the Seahawks voted against moving the Sonics him and Mark Cuban were the only ones to do so.
So you defintley have to get Behind the Blazers until the Sonics come back hopefully with Chris Paul…Sorry New Orleans its not fair I know but its likley to happen and I wish it didnt have to happen that way.

Cmon Pasta, it’s a no-brainer! Greg Oden? Brandon Roy? Travis Outlaw? Plus they’re close enough to feel like your home team! I’m not that big of an NBA fan, but I find myself tuning in to watch the Blazers every now and again. Do you have a favorite in mind? Or do you really like all 5 teams?

Where’s the Heat?
Have to go with Portland. Closest team to you now, and are becoming a VERY good team. Oden, Roy, Aldridge, Bayless, Fernandez, Webster, and Outlaw are going to be very good and very fun to watch.

Because there are no more Sonics. The team is moving to OKC but they wont be called the OKC Sonics they will have a different name.
Seattle keeps the history and the Sonics name until we get a team back in Seattle then that Team will be called the Seattle Supersonics.
And if you mean root for the roster nobody in Seattle is going to root for a team owned by Clay Bennet nobody outside of OKC will root for them.I hope the team fails miserably not the players because alot of them wanted to stay in Seattle actually all of them did but Clay Bennets response to the players was “Boo Hoo” when they complained about the move.
I cant wait for OKC to falter that team will be gone by 2013 because OKC is not a basketball market and they wont survive in OKC.

You can either bandwagon the Clippers early or get behind the next NBA team destined to move …. Memphis

I chose not to vote, as f*** the NBA is a much better answer.
But if anyone, go with Memphis. They’ll be playing here within the next five years anyway.

I couldn’t root for a team that had been stolen from another city after all this. I don’t think there’s much chance Seattle will get another franchise regardless. Even if the very unlikely happened it would never be the same.

dang pasta your lucky you already got ncaa football 09. how is it? have you tried out the campus legend?
MannyBeltre
I don’t want to steal another city’s team either. But that is something we can not control, and it seems like the likely path our government will take if we ever do get a team back.
Of course, it very well could be a different government by then. The mayor might as well start packing now, especially Licata.

But until then… YES talk about Campus Legend

I agree pasta a new team in seattle just won’t ever be the sonics despite keeping the naming rights. For me the nba is dead now it was pretty much on lifesupport anyways. I might watch form time to time, but I will never be a fan again. I
I say go with the blazers they are closest the seahawks owners owns them, and they have a TON of young talent.

I’ve never understood rooting for a team just because they’re the closest to you. Personally I’ll choose a team based on whether or not I like the group of players they have. Once the group is broken up, or a significant member leaves, I reevaluate the team and decide if it’s time to move on or not.

I’m not sure how the fans could be labeled as fairweather when the team was in the upper half of attendance despite putting out a terrible product and having the smallest arena in the NBA.

I’ve followed the Sonics my entire life of 37 years. Having our team stolen away is terrible. I’ve carefully considered this and I’m choosing to root for Portland for these reasons:
1. I live in Vancouver, WA – just 10 minutes from the Rose Garden where the Blazers play.
2. My favorite team is the Seattle Seahawks, owned by Paul Allen – also owner of the Blazers.
3. Nate McMillan is the coach – a long-time Sonic.
4. Portland has drafted many Northwest area players, including Brandon Roy and Martell Webster. Roy played from my favorite college team, the Washington Huskies.
I pride myself on never being a ‘bandwagoneer’ or ‘fair-weather fan’. I always believe that we should root exclusively for our ‘home-teams’. Well, the Sonics are no longer a home-team, or, a team (period). I can now (begrudgingly) have the chance to root for a team just minutes away from where I live, with some players I like. It would be tempting to just jump on the Hornets’ bandwagon, or some other popular, winning team. That’s not how I roll. I’ve never abandoned the Mariners or Seahawks through losing seasons just to be part of a ‘winner’. Portland is the obvious choice for me here.

Adeel,
Good job on having absolutely no clue on what you are talking about. The NBA will do well in Oklahoma City; they have been starved for a pro franchise for a long time and are eager to show support.
I do feel sorry for the true supersonic fans but the bottom line is, as crappy as it seems b/c I’m also a libertarian and don’t think public funds should support private business to the extent pro franchises demand, is that OKC stepped up to the plate and Seattle did not. Seattle helped fund new stadiums for their other 2 franchises but wouldn’t help the sonics – OKC on the other hand passed an extension of a tax already in place to give the sonics a renovated ford center and practice facility. Next time the nba comes to town, you better get all the hippies to vote “yes” b/c stern and co. aren’t going back without a new arena. Seattle deserves a team but they didn’t want to play by the BS rules and it cost them.

The NBA sucks. This is one league that gets way too much attention. Regular season games are a bore and the NBA’s solution is to play music over the loudspeakers during the games.
The NBA needs to quit focusing on hyping individual players and start hyping teams.
