10 vs 10 Online Confirmed in FIFA 09

FIFA 09 will bring the expansion of the Online Team Play to 10 on 10. That means 09 will offer up to a total of 20 different 360s or PS3s the ability to connect into a single online game. Last year the maximum was 10. The news was confirmed by producer David Rutter in an interview with Gamesradar. The only players that won’t be user controlled are the goaltenders.

We’ve managed to get 10 v 10 this year online through strength of will and technological nous. [But] we want to make sure the control system for controlling goalkeepers is compelling enough before putting it in, because no game has done it particularly well, if it’s even been in there.

Just over a year ago EA stated that the goal was to get a full 11 on 11 online experience for FIFA 2010 so they appear to easily be on target for that. Online Team Play has proven to be a big success in FIFA, NHL, and NBA Live so the expansion of these modes is only natural.

I will be getting this game now…10 on 10…..how cool! Isn’t this the game that has some kinda PS3 exclusive? I only have baseball for my PS3 and like 20 games for 360 and have been waiting for a reason to pick up another Sony game.

Yay Im 4th, give me a break people, grow up! This is revolutionary for a sports game to have the oppurtunity to have that many people on the same team. Would be interesting to see if it is set up like COD4 where you can gather a party and then take it into a game. Could be alot of fun and I dont even care for Soccer. Thanks for the info Pasta

The NCAA 2010 Team needs to use this! It would be sick to at least have 5 on 5 in NCAA!!!

I can just picture it, 2 guys lead blocking for the running back, a QB and a WR……SICK!!!!!!!!!

I’d be happy with 2 on 2 or 3 on 3 for NCAA and Madden. That would give the ability to have a user controlled QB, WR, and RB and on defense flexibility to take the position you wanted to play.

Once you go beyond that I’m not sure logistically it would work as well as these other games.

That’s great news, this game should be amazing with that addition. I’m glad they seem to be working at getting goalkeepers to be human controlled.

Well we can all be sure what the “big” announcement for NBA Live 09 is going to be. 10 on 10 online competition, with one person choosing a team and then have other online users pick one player to play with during the entire team making up the 5 person roster.

The same thing will be done with the other team, so you have 10 vs 10 with each person controlling only 1 player throughout the entire game..

Sorry Pasta if I let the cat out of the bag..I’m not bound to any EA contracts so they cant sue me…lol

My only question is what about subs? how do player sub if their man get tired?

i hope this will take care of the issue of 4 people on the same team choosing to play as an ANY…nothing is more annoying…that being said…the first time someone is playing a defender with me and they are moving up into striker position trying to score a goal, i will go beserk…

Lol. If it doesn’t lag, i’ll drag myself from madden and ncaa to get this.

Yeah some people probably will play as ‘ball follower’ but I”m sure theres gonna be some pretty good guys on defense.

Hopefully it tracks stats such as win/loss in this 10 on 10 mode and goals scored, tackles, shots, etc

This is sounding awesome if done properly
