With the EA press conference and the first day of E3 out of the way there is a wide variety of sports titles to track progress on. Outside of the NBA Live 09 365 details the rest have not presented the opportunity for in-depth looks. Below are the games that have had media reports so far.
NBA 2K9: No hands-on at E3. Operation Sports and Gamespot have reports.
NHL 2K9: No hands-on at E3. Operation Sports and Gamespot have reports.
NBA Live 09: Hands-on available at E3. Reports on 365 here, from NLSC, 5WG, Gamespot, IGN, and a producer blog. I’ve also added some offseason screens to the gallery which include Baron Davis as a Clipper and Elton Brand on the 76ers.
Facebreaker: Hands-on available at E3. Chase from OS has labeled this as his favorite game played so far via this update. I’ve been referring to this as a “fighting” game for months rather than a boxing game and he concurs.
NHL 09: Not present at E3. The secret online feature was not mentioned in the press conference however Game Informer has revealed this to be an MMO online mode. More details on this later.
NBA 09 The Inside: The first screenshots for the game are out and can be seen on IGN.

I hate how 2K markets their games. We need NBA 2K9 info!
July 16, 2008 at 9:30 am
those nba 09 screenshots look good the pregame huddle and the lights for the pistons look cool hopefully 2k9 can do something like that if nba 09 is like the show than 2k9 will have a game to contend with

What are you looking for from Madden at E3? There isn’t anything new that can be learned about it. The only thing I can think of is that you want to hear impressions from people who played it?

lol @ NBA 09 screens

Pasta, every video that I see from Madden still has those excessive camera flashes. I thought they said that they would tone those down? I don’t understand how they don’t realize that those camera flashes are way overdone. Tell me when was the last time you watched an NFL game where there were 100 camera flashes every 5 seconds? The Superbowl doesn’t even have that many. This makes the game feel arcady to me.

Hey Pasta you should put up that today at 3PM PST/ 6PM EST there will be a live stage demo of NBA Live 09 at Gamespot.com.

Yeah, I mentioned a while back that I got the feeling we weren’t going to be satisfied with how much they toned it down (if they even did at all).

In regards to the camera flashes. These all appear to be older builds, I think all the major game sites (ign, gametrailers, etc) have older builds. Ian, who is one of the Madden producers posted a full game video with their most recent build on Operation Sports about a month ago. In this video the camera flashes were toned down dramtically. Pasta feel free to comment, and great site by the way!

I saw that video that you’re talking about & I still saw way too many flashes. They were toned downed but not nearly enough. I just seems like those flashes will become very annoying after a while. Hopefully they will realize that & send a patch.

NBA 2K has it again this year & the guys from GSPOT def played an OLD version of 2K9 & should point that out as he said the commentary was the same when the FACT is Kenny Smith is NOT in NBA 2K9 this year & is in NBA 09 so the commentary has 2 be way different
July 16, 2008 at 11:25 am
nba 09 stole kenny smith from 2k sports! by the way the take 2 press confrence is tommorrow at 1:30ET 10:30PT confirm it at operation sports
July 16, 2008 at 11:25 am

love the 365 feature its so sorry that its on the wrong game. Live need to work on in game animations and try to make there game less arcadish. 2k has the crown and 09 needs to be the year to tweak so gameplay and work on graphics and features. The gameplay and animations are on point.

Pasta I want to see a pic of Ron Artest wearing a shirt that says “Property of Kings” while he’s on the bench, or Marbury with a towel over his head at the end of the bench. LOL. Can we also get a pic of Kwame Brown in the nose bleed sections?

Pasta or anybody out there, can someone please explain to me what 2k share is exactly. Will this basically mean that we would have to trust the people we download rosters from, or will 2k have their own roster that we can update more than just three times. Personally I update all my rosters on all my bball games every year, So I would rather do it myself than download rosters from someone else who might not do everything correctly. If 2k had daily roster updates that they made for us I would trust them way more than I would someone online. Also, this probably means the whole jamario moon thing will happen again, with any d-league or free agent players not being in the game if they get signed mid season. I wish 2k9 (by far the better game) had daily updates like live 09.
