John Lynch played Strong Sfaety for the Bucs the entire 11 years he played here. In fact, when he signed with the Broncos to play Free Safety, I was very surprised.

Here is a 2002 article that states he was a strong safety.

Also, Wikipedia references his play as a strong safety for Tampa Bay in the explanation of the difference between the two positions. Tampa Bay uses the Cover 2 defense…he was the strong safety in Monte Kiffen’s cover 2 and was replaced at strong safety by Jermaine Phillips after Gruden and Allen refused to even negotiate with him or let him compete for his job.

Shanahan signed him to play free safety. He has not played free safety before then.

Here is the link to the John Lynch stats on NFL.com stating him as a FREE SAFETY LIKE HE HAS BEEN ALL HIS LIFE (except college were he also played QB). Now, the broncos website has all their safetys listed as only that, safetys because they have 4 guys fighting for 2 jobs and don’t know how they are going to be aligned (McCree, Abdullah, Manuel and Lynch). For this, there is a chance that he MAY play SS this season, maybe not, but it would be nice if you can change his position, for example when I start a franchise and I want Lynch as my FS.

Agreed, I really hope that EA’s NCAA basketball is gonna bring it too. I’m a huge ‘Cuse fan and only play 2k hoops and am already sad to see the series go….I play NBA for the players but really enjoy the atmosphere and the teams of college b-ball! My fingers are crosed-

Man, that Head Coach Prima guide is crazy detailed. I can’t wait to play this game. I would if they have the whole crazy mess with Brett Farve in the game… I’ll trade for him…

Can’t wait to see some NCAA Basketball coverage. I myself thought MM08 was terrible. I can’t imagine NCAAB 09 will be all that much better but I’ll cross my fingers I guess, it’s sad Hoops 2K is done…
