  • IGN has a new video detailing the changes to GamerNet for Tiger Woods 09. The instant challenges should be a nice addition and the simultaneous online play will be especially welcome.
  • Gamespot has posted up two new videos from NBA Live 09. They show some pregame footage (though the introductions are skipped), the flipping through some of the DNA screens in the menu and about a minute of gameplay including commentary. Interestingly the tip-off has changed since the community event where it was a low camera angled up instead of an overhead camera as seen now. The first video can be found here and the second here.
  • I was surprised to stumble upon the cover for Madden 09 En Espanol which is set to release in mid-September. Bears G Roberto Garza is the cover athlete. *Insert Madden curse reference here*. At least this year the cover isn’t graced by an admitted past steroid user.

Dude. This is America. English is the common language. There shouldn’t be a Spanish Madden in America. Ea is just contributing to the problem of people not being able to assimilate in this society. English should be the Official Language.

Wow is ppl like you that make the rest of the world hate us… its not a problem, our country is a “melting pot” and always will be. English is the most common language but EA is trying to appeal to the ones who cant speak english, spanish speaking ppl have every right to have madden en espanol and no they shouldnt have to learn english, it should be a choice (that is what our country is based on!)

anyways… is about time they put an OLineman on the cover, they really are the ones who dont get the respect they should be getting. I just wish that one year they should put one on the american version even though they should have put one on for the year they added the lead blocker feature. I would luv to see jason peters on the cover… that guys a mammoth

Saw the 2K9 preview video. Some things that I liked:

    1. The crowd. The folks at the garden were really getting into the game and the runt the Celtics were on.

    2. Kevin Garnett’s emotion. That was a nice additon.

    3. Improved graphics, but still nowhere near Lives. Those screen shots that we saw had to have been an artist rendition. The graphics aren’t anywhere near the level of the screen shots that 2K posted. They did the same thing last year as well.

    Things I didn’t like:

Sliding. I hate this about 2K games. How can you do cross over after cross over, in the lane, with a defender in front of you and not get bumped, moved or anything?

Offense: Perhaps this is a demo, but a pretty basic motion offense was ran, which is pass it around the wings or dump it inside.

Graphics: Even though I liked the improved graphics, I don’t like the fact that the screen shots were misleading and some players appeared too bulky.

Couldn’t get much else from the demo really. It was pretty long, but both teams were player controlled.

2K9 looks like its an improvement from 2K8, but hopefully brings more innovation to the table.

now as far as the crossover reference it’s a DEMO their 4 it would be on a LOW SETTING def PRO or LOWER plus their is NO way that N E 1 that says LIVE looks good can complain about 2K being EZ 2 get in the LANE I mean just look at that GPAY vid 4 LIVE every1 was driving to the lane ie TONY, IGGY, etc

DAMN CAN’T wait 2 see MCELTIC utubes vids 4 dis yr game cuz his 2K8 vids were H.O

First of all, America is a group of countries that go from Canada to Argentina. Second of all, you know that EA sends copies of madden around the world right? And people in latin america watch the games with spanish speaking commentators right? So having Raul Allegre or Alvaro Martin commentating on Madden 09 would be much more real for this audience than 2 broadcasters that they probably have never heard before…

    James,
Nix flutz blarney quando flue. That was my response to you. It is my own made-up languge (actually, I stole it from a George Carlin bit). The point of my foolishness is that everybody having their own language is obviously not a good idea and wouldn’t work in our society.

Also, you should research the “melting pot” concept. The idea of the melting pot, as it pertains to American Culture, is that the melting pot melts down all metals (a metaphor for cultures) in to one singular mass. This means that cultures coming into this country assimilate to the mass, and the mass takes on some of their properties. The larger the mass (at this point, the US is pretty large), the fewer of the properties from the new material will be absorbed. What you suggest (everybody speak any language that they want) is not a melting pot, but a bag of marbles.

That said, I have absolutely no problem with Madden in Spanish. If market research says that they can make a profit by releasing the game in Sanskrit, then I’m all for that too.

can you please tell EA that they need to fix the lob pass problem. in the videos, it hapenned two times. if those passes were bullet passes, then the player would have scored much more easily
