sounds okay, but Ea has to earn my trust, and as of right now.. theyre last few nba games havent been worth the money. they are already 3 years behind teh gameplay of nba 2k9, and with each game it seems as 2k pays more attention to detail. all live had on 2k htis generation was graphics, but form the looks of things 2k9 already surpasses live 09 in graphic and pretty much everything else except commentary..

2k9 is a day 1 purchase for me. live will be rented.. or bought used.

Hey Pasta man, have you gotten the answer about the team play substitutions for me?

I sent it in, hoping to have the answer soon.

It’s funny how everytime there’s a blog about Live the producers try to avoid talking about the most important thing GAMEPLAY! They’re talking about 365, FIBA, Dynasty, etc…All that won’t mean anything if the gameplay still sucks. When is EA gonna realize this? Who cares about all these features if the gameplay isn’t fluid. I didn’t read anything in that Q&A discussing significant gameplay improvements. Once again another classic example of EA trying to pull the wool over our eyes. The only thing I want to hear EA talking about is how they’re improving gameplay. If they were smart, they would’ve spent the whole year just improving gameplay & not worry about adding features this year. I mean what do they have to lose by doing that? Sheep will still buy the game no matter what because it has the EA logo on it. By the time Live catches up gameplay wise, the Playstation 4 will be out.

Gameplay is a must if EA is going to get SIM players. The thing that is upsetting to read, is that I can pop in Live 96 on the Genesis, and play a 28 game season. A decade later and 3 cosoles later, I cant play 28-9 game saeson on a current GEN(360/PS3) Live.

What is the excuse for that? Id sure like to hear it.

we will see how to demo is since the live demo will probably be released much early then the 2k demo i will probably end up rentin live and def buying 2k

from the looks of those gameplay vids it seems like passing is to slow and not fluent enough and it is to easy to drive to the lane and the shooting looks like its easy and it doesn’t look real plus the rims and the net look retarted

In the newest Live video the animations are getting better, more moves, more fluid player movements, BUT the dunks are still ridiculous! Its so unrealistic, the players are like flying towards the rim, without jumping, like dolls on a wire. Where is the phisix in the game? New features are OK, but how about the basics?
No fun simulation gameplay, no realistic presentation, no realistic player models, no phisix, but a bunch of new, hyped features. LIVE 09 is like someone, who want to be a college student, but did not even graduated in high-school…

Jerrod, if You say, that Live graphics are better, I say OK. Commentators are better, probably. Music sounds better, perhaps. Menu or controls are better, I do not argue with You.

But how the hell can You say, that Live is more realistic? R U blind, or You live in South Park?

A comparison: 2k9 to Live09 is like Fight Night Round 3 to Facebreaker…

Yea i agree with reignman, you are seriously blind if you think nba live 09 is more realistic, its very clear to see that 2k9 is decades ahead of Live when it comes to gameplay, and reignman i kind of disagree with the graphics cause 2k is really stepping it up this year and its looking better then Live, but yea commentary is the only and i mean only thing that Live has better then 2k

EVERY YEAR WHEN WE TALK ABOUT LIVE IT AMAZES ME HOW ALL THE HATERS COME IN HERE AND DOWN LIVE. yeah live has unrealistic dunks but when 2k8 has pf doing windmills under the rim and lebron and kobe dunking over 4 people like its nothing that real realistic.

I think it was a very honest answer with the ease of getting to baskets we’ve seen in the videos. I think about it, and yes sometimes it is that easy. They have a 5 minute video out there that really highlights the gameplay which I think is a lot better than what we’ve been seeing, looks a lot more complete. And of course the gameplay has improved. He’s talked about improving the gameplay on his blogs, and of course they are going to highlight their new features, that’s just good business sense.

As for the comments of “decades” ahead. I’m sorry, 2K has been heavily flawed. Yes its the best basketball series in this next gen era, but that’s not saying much is it? It’s success has primarily depended on Lives failures. Last Gen NBA games were getting reviewed and ranked in the high 8′s out of 10s, both these games are getting mid to high 7′s. Yes 2K has been fluid, but thats because it has animations that you can’t break out of (leading to some very funny scenarios) I saw Yao Ming do a a between the legs, then a cross over before giving up the ball IN THE BACK COURT!!!!….yeah, thats real. But seriously, until we start demanding more out of our games, then they won’t be improving much. 2K fans, instead of being blind and bashing Live, maybe you should look at your own game and demand more out of it and fix their glitches and what not. Prime example of how 2K’s “success” is depedent on Live’s failures.

And no I’m not a Live fanboy. I’ve bought every basketball game since the NES days for every system that I’ve owned. I like innovation, combined with realistic game play along with a fun factor, great graphics and the full 9. Both these games haven’t done that yet for me, but i can appreciate when the effort is being made.

DI, I would not call this hating LIVE, these are only personal opinions. You know, in the last few years I heard lots of undone promises from EA, I got sceptic. It is just experience…

Hey, INFAMOUS, both EA and 2k are releasing screenshots, videos, feature lists, improvements about the upcoming games. Why should not we tell our opinions about them, why should not we compare them? I thought, that is the point.

KWAS, did You see Carter making a dunk above a 6.10 french player on the Olympic games?

JR, I think it is just too high expectations, why the 2k8 got less review points than 2k7. 2k8 is a better game.

I don’t think that exceptions were high, 2K8 was reviewed lower because it was a step backwards. Many will agree that 2K7 was better than 2K8 or not much different. I do hope that either Live or 2K9 improve their games, as I want a GREAT game that falls under the basketball genre. 2K9 improved graphics isn’t enough, 5 on 5 online isn’t enough. Bring some innovation to the table. I want to see teams play like they do in real life, so far no game has captured that.

I partly agree, but in the last years both LIVE and 2k had some features, like FIBA teams, 24/7, Dunk contest… But none of these has reformed the game, always a good, solid, fluid 5vs5 gameplay has to be there behind the features, everything else is just the cream on the cake.

You are right, 2k8 was only slightly better, but still, many-many more people play 2k8 online…

The argument can be made: if 2K7 still supported roster updates, many people would have stayed with 2K7. DNA is definitely something that is ground breaking IMO. Online 5 on 5…eh, not so much, this has always been expected, just never implemented. Online dunk contest will be the next gimmick for one of these systems…but hopefully there will be online judges or something…now that will be sweet! But I’m getting WAY ahead of myself. 2K has it half way right when it comes to fluid game play, and Live has it half way right when it comes to breakable animations in game play. If somehow one of these games could add the other half, then we’d have something very special in our consoles.
