NCAA Football 09 Patch #2 Out Now

The second (and final) patch for NCAA Football 09 has gone live for the Xbox 360 and should be following for the PS3 in the near future. This patch addresses some gameplay improvements, fixes to different areas of the game such as the sliders, and the addition of being able to view online dynasties on EA Sports World.

- Ability to view your Online Dynasty HQ through EA Sports World

Dynasty
- Fixed a couple recruiting exploits
- Faster simming between weeks
Custom Stadium Sounds
- The “All” option will now only work when the user is the home team
Gameplay
- Improved coverage on kicks
- Hook Zones depth keeps defenders in their zones
- Fixed an issue with the Strafe Catch
- Allow fumbles to occur when diving
- WR screen routes improved
Bug Fixes
- Sliders will now work correctly
- An issue with missing stats after simming has been fixed
- Ball carrier will no longer run out of bounds when changing hands and heading towards the sidelines
- Fixed an exploit that allowed the slot receiver to burn the safeties in a prevent defense
- Fixed a bug where the the ball would hit the cross bar, drop through, and not be counted
- Fixed a bug that would prevent Hot Routes from working

By “improved online performance” for online dynasty does that fix the problem where the wrong records are loaded? Like it gives the guy a loss even though they won a week? How the hell do you fix this?

I don’t feel the patch has changed anything other than the kickoff coverage. That in and of itself improves the gameplay, but punt coverage is still horrendous, and I did not see “Robo QB” fixed at all by changing any of the sliders…..Oh well….Wish there was a patch #3!!!

I’m checking into this, but I believe the patch may have been more of preparation for that feature rather than the launching of it. I hope to have a better idea of when to expect that to be up later today.

I didn’t know this was still happening to people. I haven’t experienced that issue. I don’t believe this patch affects online dynasty performance since the fixes made previously were all server related.

Ya it’s stll happening. It happened in my Big 10 dynasty. It gave a couple of guys a loss even though they won. We are in Week 6. Also, the past few days we’ve been getting “The Dynasty server is unavailble please try later” message. It’s pretty frustrating if I lost that dynasty.

Do dynasty’s that are currently running need to be started over to have the patch take effect, or will the zone coverages, stat issues, etc, fix themselves on current running dynasty’s?

They got submitted at the same time, it could be any day now but it also could be longer. That is on Sony to clear it and push it out.

To get the patch follow these steps:
1) Turn on system
2) Insert disk
3) The system will alert you a patch is available and ask if you want to download
4) Select YES
5) After system restarts the patch is there

The first patch just fixed the roster (editing players) problem.

Is this really the “Final” patch. The recruits you convince to stay are still leaving! I just verified this after the patch. I hope there is another patch to fix that.

i.e. when you talk them into staying and it doesn’t save when the commish advances so they aren’t on the roster the next season.?

I’ve got two questions:
1. Is there a way to download these patches OFFLINE? I don’t have Xbox Live, but I was hoping there was a site to download the patch onto a CD-ROM and then put it into my 360. The patches aren’t showing up on EA’s support page…
2. I’m a Florida State alum, so I would obviously like to play with FSU. I’ve seen screenshots with the alternate all-garnet uniforms, and the black ones as well. However, does the game include the standard garnet jerseys and gold pants (with the Seminole head on the side of the pants) that have been the staple of the Seminoles for forever?

Not only did my 2 star juniors still get removed from the roster on my online dynasty after I convinced them to stay, but it also recorded a loss on a game that I won the following season. Also now all of a sudden since the patch it’s impossible to keep ANY recruits happy, online and offline!!! Hard selling an “Elite” matched up with a “Most” should not send them straight to pissed off so they hang up in 3 seconds. What gives?

I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH PS2 NCAA 2OO9 PASSING PLAYS. AFTER DROPPING A PASS IN 2ND DOWN. IT GOES INTO A HURRY UP OFFENSE ON 3RD AND 4TH DOWN WITHOUT ME CALLING IT. IT HAPPENS MORE IN THE FIRST QUARTER.

1. I don’t think so, but if you can connect it to an internet connection quickly and move it back and you’ll have the patch.
2. Yes, the default jerseys are there.

Yeah, this pissed me off. You won’t be able to change this for your online dynasty, but you can delete the patches when you are in the recruiting part of the week, then just let them reinstall when you’re about to play a game. Go to dashboard > System tab > Memory, then press Y. You should see two options, Rename and Format, but leave them alone. Press X, X, LB, RB, X, X. Select Yes when it asks if you want to perform maintenance. This will only delete game updates (for ALL games), no other files or dashboard updates will be touched. When you start the game, just deny the updates. You can install/uninstall as you see fit for any game.

you cant strafe catch anymore, this is so stupid; thanks for the heads up; i threw 3 int in a game because my WR didnt jump the way they were supposed to……I hate when the change that shit

I think this is funny i dont know if anyone else cares but i think it is a bit stupid that the refs are only on the field when a penalty is called and also no chain gang come on could they have fixed this in a patch?

this wont work for online dynasties because you can sign into xbox live without downloading the updates. does anyone know of another way?

Hmmmm….not sure if the CPU sliders really are working. To try this, I set my pass rush to 100 and the CPU pass block to 0. The opposing QB (SAN JOSE STATE FOR F’S SAKE!) still managed to complete over 80% of his passes, and I only got 2 sacks (only because he scrambled and my DE got to him behind the LOS).

When you finish one year in your dynasty (offline) the next year you can’t pass at all with that same team you have to use a different team so you can pass. So what the F

imma just be real. this game sucks without pass rushing and especially without STRAFE CATCHING. i mean what da h*ll man??!!! you telling me my dude can’t line up to catch the ball no more?!!! instead i have to pray he jumps or watch him perform a half circle catch that barely gets off the game. which most likely ends in a PICK cause the DEFENSE can still STRAFE. BS!!!!! Come on EA damn! Its a user skill and if someone knows how to use it well, then don’t punish them cause some other people don’t know how to, or don’t know how to stop like others. they should have just toned it down a lil. I’m Voting for a freak PATCH #3!!! Come on Pasta. you got more voice than us bruh. fix passr ush and enable strafe catching on offense and this game is a classic yo!

Enough whining. Strafe was supposedly taken out to make offense less ridiculous online. If it evens the playing field for the non-obsessed-with-one-game among us, I’m all for taking it out.
Is there any word on when the Online Dynasty HQ’s will be available at easportsworld?
Further, is this really the very last patch that EA will apply to this game?

How do I get the patch? I never once got the pop-up to download it…..is there any other way i can get it? Its so frustrating not getting it. I’ve looked everywhere.

first of all the sliders still blow im on heisman in my 7th season in an online dynasty we have most the computers AI up to 100 and im still winning 77-21. And the players leaving should be fixed its worst part about ncaa

OK this maybe a little nitpicky but there aren’t any refs or coaches in this game (at least not in the Campus Legend mode)! What’s up with that? Can this be fixed?
