NFL Opener Live Blog on Thursday

Something I’ve done a few times now that has seemed to be real successful is holding live blogs. The one for the NFL Draft and at the football community event actually represented the most traffic had received to those respective dates.

So with the NFL season beginning on Thursday night featuring two teams that couldn’t thrill me much less I thought it would be interesting to post comments throughout in the live blog. Even though I can’t stand them it is a rivalry and the opener so it is still going to be a fun night. As the game progresses you can leave comments or questions about anything and I may respond to those in the blog as well. The live blog will begin minutes before the game starts at 7ET/4PT.

Don’t forget to at least get your choice for this game entered into the Pick’em by kickoff. The rest of the games won’t lock until the first game begins on Sunday. If you aren’t in the pick’em or need the details again head here.

So who do you have taking the opener? The Giants played poorly at home last year including having a whooping put on them by these very Redskins in a game I was actually in attendance for. It still seems as though it would be difficult to go against the defending champs given the circumstances. The Giants are four point favorites.

Zack, eagles fans are the best fans for the exact same reasons u said we were classless. throwing snowballs at santa and cheering irvins career ending injury was priceless(even tho i liked irvin in college cuz he was a hurricane but he became a cowgirl). o yea and trojan, come to philly and go to an eagles game in the other teams jersey(especially a rival jersey) and ull see how much brotherly love we have. philly fans r the best fans in america(we cant compete with the wacko soccer(or futbol) fans) and also, according to jimmy rollins, are frontrunners lol. i still du think the cowboys will win the division but if mcnabb can stay healthy, they will give them a run for their money.

There is no way he is overrated. You might hate him, but the guy is an incredible receiver. You have to respect the other teams in the NFC east. Best division in football in my opinion.

no way hes not incredible hes ok im never eve gonna say plexico is good and toughest division in football no way…the afc south three teams made the playoffs and yeah three teams made the playoffs from the nfc east but the colts are better than the cowboys and the g-men, the jags are better than the skins and the titans are better than the eagles

I’d like to point out key roster positions…

Moss and Randle El should be the starters at WR with Thrash in the slot as Kelly injured and the rookie Thomas isn’t quite ready. Stephon Heyer takes over for the long time starter at right tackle so look at that match-up between he and Kiwi. For the Skins D, Kedric Golston beat out Montgomery as their startign D tackle alongside Cornelius Griffin and Reed Doughty will continue to man SS after the death of Sean Taylor. On a side note, Washington has a new punter, but whom cares. As for the G-men, Bradshaw/Ward will compete to be Jacobs’ sure fire back-up and Steve Smtih will continue to work in the slot with the like of Domenik Hixon, Mario Manningham, and Sinorice Moss backing him up. Kiwanuka and Tuck are the starting DEs with Danny Clark, Pierce, and Wilkinson at LB. Ross and Webster will start at corner after the demotion of Sam Madison to the bench. The starting safeties will be Michael Johnson (FS) and James Butler (SS), but watch for the back-ups (Kenny Phillips and Sam Madison) to play a role.

Jason Taylor is listed as doubtful and K Laurence Tynes will miss the game. Ol timer John Carney will be the temporary replacement.
