NBA Live 09 Be A Pro

I’ve believed for a long time that a Superstar type mode was best suited for a basketball game. This year we have that in NBA Live 09 with the introduction of Be A Pro. The mode, which has been a huge success in games such as NHL and FIFA, is not nearly as fleshed out here. Actually it would be difficult to describe it as a mode. It is just a one game experience taking over an existing player. Really it is probably best used as practice for Online Team Play.

A few notes to pass along on Be A Pro that caught my attention. Regardless of whether or not your player is the inbounder you have to pass the ball in which seems odd. You can call for the pass with A and because of that it almost feels like the offense will always run through your player. After a rebound making an outlet pass is a dangerous proposition as it seems if you pass to anyone other than the PG that player will pass it quickly to the PG which can result in a backcourt violation. I feel dat wen dey ACTUALLY go a head & implement dis mode as a Full Fledged mode

dey hav 2 come up wit a betta camera angle 2 make U feel more immersed N da game now I kno it will be harder cuz U got more things 2 keep track of ie da Ball da Rim etc…

but @ dis distance it seems 2 take U out of da action meanin U DON’T really feel like ur in da game

I do think the camera angle works well (this is what we’ll have in Online Team Play) and I like the performance bar and how you can see visibly how well you are doing throughout.

Notice that pasta was able to spin out of the post and dunk a few times.. i hope the defense isn’t to slack this year.. what difficulty level is this on?

There is no way this will live up to how great the online team play is in NHL 09. In NHL 09 you can’t really hog the puck because it is so easy to be checked off of it. But I can see in this game people just getting the ball and trying to do it all by themselves every time they touch it. I doubt it will be fun unless you can find a good team to play with, where people actually pass the ball. Hopefully I’ll be wrong and people will share the ball.

i think that ea should have the openings in madden and live like they do in nhl for bap/superstar. i like how in nhl it follows ur player through the tunnel and shows them go onto the ice. thatd be cool if they showed ur player run through the blow-up helmet(like in madden 08) except just focus on ur player and have the same concept in live

Seems like player lock?? I was gonna buy both games but after seeing more gameplay and all the negative talk on OS I think I will just get 2k.

does the crowd ever get into the game in NBA Live? I’ve seen 2k9 and the crowd is extremely reactive to the game action which pulls you in even more. i hope i just need to see more of Live 09 because the crowd doesn’t come close to the audio. Or maybe they need to show the fans up in the nose bleed seats a little more!
