he does this for every sports game that has been released…that way people can go back and check what was said about it before even if they aren’t online junkies and always reading past posts…

Vince really plays like himself in this. I even seen him try to draw a foul and really play it off like he does in real life. AMAZING.

I’m putting Dynasty mode on hold until Playmakers distributes his sliders and player edits (hopefully). I’ll be playing FIBA for now and online.

Going to get some more time with 2K this week. It’s hard to choose which one I prefer. When I’m playing Live, a part of me misses 2K, and when I play 2K a part of me misses live. Wish they could combine the best of both worlds and maybe throw in the Life mode from NBA 09!

I decided to just buy both games and honestly, I think both games aren’t that good this year. 2k and EA both put out a Ferrari with a Honda Civic engine. Looks good, sounds good, but when it’s time to actually drive it’s dissapointing. When you play 2k9 you zip up and down the court and the dribbling is crap. I actually think that 2k8 is better. When you play Live it feels like you are pressing buttons that put you into an animation. You don’t feel like you have control of your player once you start a move. Kind of like Madden 08…when you juked you couldn’t do anything else….or when you got wrapped up it was a for sure tackle that you couldn’t break out of.

Don’t get me worong, both games are OK but they are definitely not “amazing”. I think people are so happy to have a new game that they are fooling themselves into thinking it’s A-M-A-Z-I-N-G…once FiFa comes out both of these games will lose some playing time.
If I had to choose one to play it would be 2k9.

NHL 09 is still my sports game of the year Mr. 707, your write up is exactly how I felt last year. I think the base of Live and 2K will be satisified and take notice in the improvements as well as the weakness’. We have to give the developers some slack, they only get so much time to work on a game, not to mention the business’ side of the house to include business politics. I just judge the game for what it is, and not necessarily for what it could be.

You’re definitely right. And at the end of the day it IS just a video game. The one thing you have to keep in mind is that we’re the ones paying for these games and even though $60 out my pocket doesn’t hurt I still expect a product I won’t be dissapointed in. Live AND 2k9 sort of disappointed me this year…neither game blew me away. I didn’t get the wow factor I got from features like the online dynasty mode from NCAA or the gameplay from Madden09 (which I personally feel is way better then any of the previous Maddens).

Not really sure there is a simple answer to that. I’m more comfortable with Live so I tend to lean that way. But if I was to break it down:

    Live: Features, online play, commentary
    2K: Gameplay, animations, atmosphere/presentation

They both offer up a good experience this year I’d say and I don’t really feel like you could go wrong either way.

I somewhat agree with you but 2K is a game that you really have to take time & master. The footplanting in 2K is realistic & it takes time to get used to. It is different than 2K8 but just give it time & you can master it. The dribbling is also a little different & it does seem to be a little more canned than last year but at the same time driving to the basket is much more realistic this year. The AI this year is insanely realistic so that will also take time to master. Don’t give up on 2K so soon my friend. 2K is for the true sim players.

2k is for the hardcore! takes a while to really feel the game. It took me a while to get used to the shot stick but i got it down now. Live on the other hand its a easy pick up n play game.
