The seventh roster update for Madden 09 is being targeted to be out as early as tomorrow morning. This latest one seems to be more substantial than the last couple of updates. While it can be debated whether one or two point ratings changes really mean anything it is great to have the consistency of weekly roster updates which has led to them being more accurate than ever before.

CB Domonique Foxworth – Falcons – 78 to 74 – Traded to Falcons and can’t get on the field.

TE Michael Gaines – Lions – 79 to 74 – Product from UCF not doing much with the extra playing time.
LT Chad Clifton – Packers – 94 to 93 – Had a heck uv a time with John Abraham, left with a bad hamstring but could have been a benching.
KGB – Packers – 88 to 85 – Now a pass rushing specialist, does little when in the game.

WR DJ Hackett – Panthers – 86 to 84 – Always hurt, got hurt in his first play back in Week 5.
TE Todd Heap – Ravens – 91 to 89 – All you fantasy players know how soft and bad he has been.

C Kevin Mawae – Titans – 94 to 91 – Getting up there in age, still a good player.

LB E.J. Henderson – Vikings – IR
Contracts
WR Lee Evans – Bills – 5 years

I am a huge Ap fan but I think he should definetly be downgraded. He should only be like a 91 the way he has been playing.

Its a mixture of our Offense players getting injured, and not being able to go. which leaves our D on the field longer. Just rember every team has Bad years. This is our time of bad years or a year.

tell you what though koren robinson went pretty well for the amount of ball he saw, i think if hasselbeck had of played today we might of been in with a chance to win that game, no offence to frye though but he makes some really poor decisions sometimes
October 12, 2008 at 11:08 pm
ok…i might get some ish for this but matt ryan gotta get a bump up. I know today was his first passin game over 200 but he is so cool under pressure AWR. gotta go up and can norwood get a bump in KR? 178 Ret. Yards today…Roddy speakin for himself…solid update this week

Maybe not “SWEET”. but hey we could return to 07 form. Now we got alot of layers banged up and russel and grant need to go.
I think this what you are saying being a redskins fan is a little overboard im a seattle fan, and also think a few of my guys should go up amd alot of them down.
I believe that’s pretty much the nature of this entire exchange here. Most of us are going to push the envelope in the name of our team so, it’s almost natural for us to fluff the numbers a bit. However, I believe the targets of interest are valid.
Myself, like you, also believe there are players on my team that should drop some points as well. So, I’m not one sided by any means. The main thing is that we get our message out to the people that matter right? Ultimately they’ll ration out exactly how many points players get or not get. Yeah, I think I was reaching when I slipped F. Smoot in there or C. Rabach. Maybe even A. Randle El. LOL But, for the most part…the rest are definite no brainers.
The roster update was spot on as far as the “Skins” are concerned, though, I would have shared that D. Evans increase with the rest of that rotation filling in for J. Taylor. We’re all just pointing out our suggestions. BTW, I pull for the ‘Hawks on the side. I LOVE sooo many players on that roster. And, you never hear any “ME” attitudes coming from that organization.
Dont get me wrong i know the skins will get alot of crap losing to the rams. but its NFL anything can happen. Any team can beat anyteam. But im not a redskins fan. but i can even see Campbell and portis and S.Moss need upgrades, On my team Seattle our FS and SS Grant and Russel need to be in the low 80s or high 70s. jennings should go down 8 points. but J.Jones should go up to a 88 but thats about it. Now that seattles year looks over, i will vote for the redskins.

hmm i thought grant and russel were both good players.. i know russel is getting old though, but at least i thought grant was a callibre player still?
October 12, 2008 at 11:43 pm
i agree with u on jennings though he is a very weak link in our the secondary and is always getting burned by WR’s
October 13, 2008 at 1:21 am
now im not a huge fan of Olindo Mare and i wish we never let Josh Brown go but atm with the kick power that he has its hard enough trying to kick 30yd field goals. if u look at how he has gone this season i dnt think he has missed any goals so far and if u saw his 50 yd FG today he booted the s**t out of it so in the next update dnt bumo his overall up massively but giv him the ability that he actually has to kick long range field goals
October 13, 2008 at 3:45 am
What about my Bucs??? I think there has been like 4 players updated all year!! We are kiling sides in the trenches (take out the one game against Denver)… Ronde has slipped a little, but our safeties are killing them, and most of our backups are playing unreal!
The O-Line is the best young O-Line in the league, and I’m gonna go out there and say top 3. They are making space for a 33year old, a 4 or 5 year old practice squad player, and protecting Mr “Concrete Feet” Griese.
Also, if Talib doesn’t get a little boost this week, its BS. He got a INT today, and shoulda had another but Phillips swiped it from him. And showed some real athleticism after he caught it.
Alex Smith deserves a boost too- has had a pretty good year considering the TE’s on the roster get an even amount of looks. Anotonio Bryant needs to be nudged up too.
October 13, 2008 at 4:50 am
wtf? Justin Forsett is back with the seahawks… coz they dnt already have enough hb’s. i was a fan of forsett when i saw wat he did in the pre season but how many hb’s does one team need?
October 13, 2008 at 6:11 am
8 TDs = reggie leads the nlf
7 TDs = ronnie brown
October 13, 2008 at 7:03 am
forsetts on the practice squad.
i agree with u on jennings though he is a very weak link in our the secondary and is always getting burned by Rember in 2006 we had these same problems And we let Ken Hamlin go because he was giving up big plays? well thats what russel is doing, and one year can make a differnce, look at Shaun Alexander. So next year we wemight be good idk
October 13, 2008 at 7:40 am
Never understood the madden ratings system. Although the Redskins really deserve to have 6 players to get upgraded because they won 4 inna row, I honestly think the Giants who also won 4 inna row and to this point undefeated, should get more love than 2 players upgraded. Especially after the (eplicit) whippin they layed on Seattle you’d figure they’d get a little love.
When o When is Frank Gore going to get any love? over 2k total yards in 2 years ago, over 1,600 total yards last year, Leading the NFL in yards from scrimmage this year with a 4.8 avg better than AP, LT, Steven Jackson, Clinton Portis, 3rd leading rusher in the NFL, Frank Gore is easily top 3-4 backs in the NFL
I love Gore’s play style he reminds me of another RB whose name shoud be mention with the best in the game; Brandon Jacobs avg 5.8 ypc // he outrushed Marion Barber last year even though he missed six games and was dingged up for 3-4 others. Did I mention he broke the 1k mark despite missing six games and having to share the carries he did get with 2 other RB’s. Again this year he’s splitting carries with 2 other RB’s and he’s still one of if not the most feared RB in the game. I’d fear LT for the break out chance everytime he touches the ball but i’d fear BJ for the potential of hurting one of my defenders every play. Bardshaw is one of the fastest RB’s in the game. Even though he’s undersized it doesn’t stop him from breaking tackles but if you look at his madden ratings you’d never know it. Ward is a complete back he can run around you or through you each one of these backs could start on half the teams in this league. IE(Ryan Grant) for packers. But if you look at Madden Ratings you’d swear Everyone in our divison (NFC East best division in Football) Had a better rushing game than the Giants. Giants are #1 in the NFL with 181 ypg rushing. Giants finished 4th last year in rushing. Oh yeah I forgot Giants won the SB. Beit the Cowboys or Patriots that would have won their stats would be 99 ovr 99def 99 off and everyone knows it.
October 13, 2008 at 9:53 am
everyone is talkin about how reggie cant run inside…. well alot of that is because the o-line absolutely sucks at run-blocking! watch a saints game and tell me otherwise.
October 13, 2008 at 11:40 am
reggie cant run inside cause the game plane is to stop him
look at the game play action work on every play
for a guy who cant run inside why is play action working so good if he cant run inside and the 1 or 2 time they ran play action with duce it was like the deffence wasn’t worried
the number 1 objective is to stop bush they spot him out like the qb spots out the mike LB on deffence
and they have no one else to fear on offence
October 13, 2008 at 1:07 pm
good thing I’m no coach, as a Bush and Duece fan I’d find a way to have both on the field on most plays. Something to the effect of bush playing slot WR (ie Wes Welker) If teams have a problem with Welker I’m sure they’d fare no better vs Bush. Let Duece pound them for 3 qtrs then put Bush in during 4th quater almost a guarantee that his YPC will increase. But I disagree with the comment that Bush is the best player on the team. I think Drew Brees is it. The Saints can win if Bush is hurt not sure I can say the same if Brees is hurt. Bush is the most athletically gifted player since LT IMO but it’s just that my opinion.

You are very correct J. Jones did start but even so he only got 164 carries 3.6 avg
Barber got 204 for 975 which is 4.8 per carry. Jacobs carried 202 for 1009 yds that’s 5 ypc but since he doesn’t play for cowboys or the patriots he get’s no love on madden. He played better than Barber last year even though he missed 6 games and Barber gets the nod for Pro Bowl and the ratings boost for Madden. I love the way Barber play I have a lot of respect for his game but he’s not better than Barndon Jacobs
October 13, 2008 at 6:47 pm
Where’s the love for Matt Ryan?? So far he has done excellent, and he had 300 yards passing against the bears and has 5 TD’s on the season he should be an 85 or 86- he has the same rating as Jon Kitna. JON KITNA!! That just doesn’t seem right. And Michael Turner is 2nd in the league in rushing with an average offensive line and a rookie LT. He definitely should be like a 93, especially after getting 100 yards against the Packers- he should at least be higher than Laurence Maroney, who is ranked 90 and runs behind the best O-line in football, but yet he still averages 3.8 ypc, while Turner averages 5.4 ypc and has played some tough run defenses (i.e. Carolina, Tampa Bay, Chicago) and he still does amazing. Oh, and what about Drew Brees?? He is leading the league in passing with literally no good receivers around him. I think his starting receivers Monday night were Lance Moore and David Patten (Who? Exactly!). And the Saints have a terrible defense, wheras Tony Romo, who has an offense full of playmakers around him has not nearly as good(lost to the Cards this week!)
October 13, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Lance Moore WR, of the New Orleans Saints deserves a ratings boost up.
He has a 78-79 rating right now, yet he has more receiving yards this season than Plaxico Burress, Hines Ward, Marvin Harrison, Antonio Gates and Randy Moss!!!
Show him some love, EA!!!!!
October 13, 2008 at 8:42 pm
Drew Brees deserves a boost!!!!! I am a Romo fan, but you got to show love for Brees.
He is on pace to BREAK Dan Marino’s single season passing record with Lance Moore, David Patten, and Mark Campbell as the primary targets. And all are rated under like 81 OVERALL, And if you are asking the question, “Who are they?”. Thats exactly the point im trying to make! No one has heard of them, yet they put up better numbers than the “Big name WRs”
But for some reason Carson Palmer gets a rating boost to 95 although the Bengals are 0-6 and he cannot do anything on offense despite Chad Johnson (97 OVERALL) and Housmanzadeh (95 OVERALL), yet Drew Bress puts on a clinic week in and week out with No-Name WR.
EA, SHOW BREES SOME LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Barber didnt start any games though, J.jones started every game
You are very correct J. Jones did start but even so he only got 164 carries 3.6 avg
Barber got 204 for 975 which is 4.8 per carry. Jacobs carried 202 for 1009 yds that’s 5 ypc but since he doesn’t play for cowboys or the patriots he get’s no love on madden. He played better than Barber last year even though he missed 6 games and Barber gets the nod for Pro Bowl and the ratings boost for Madden. I love the way Barber play I have a lot of respect for his game but he’s not better than Barndon Jacobs
Oh i know Jacobs is huge i dont think i have seen someone that big and that fast. he should be a 92-94
October 13, 2008 at 9:32 pm
yeah tru saints fan drew brees is under rated moore meachem henderson and bush and is best qb in league at the moment
so is lance moore good route runner
bush is too a rb is as good as his o-line f*** yrds per carry he is saints 2nd best player right now

Ot would be nice if Matt Ryan got an upgrade but I doubt they give him any props, even after the 300 yard game v/s the Bears

Not to get your hopes up but usually when a rookie performs at his caliber, he ends up with a rating of at least a 94. If he was a cowboy or patriot he’d be 99

matt ryan is gonna get the rookie of the year because he could slip his team into the wildcard or it could be chris johnson for the ROY

i havent posted on here in a while so heres the rundown, skins yea we lost but thats only cus pete kendalls an uncoordinated fat f*ck and our 4th string corner plays roy williams style pass coverage (see nonexistant, if you dont believe me randy moss schooled him all day last year and the one good play he was credited with this year was an accident the ball bounced of breastons helmet) but campbell still needs the upgrade i saw another skins fans rant, disagree on the awareness its fine at 80, hes not tom brady or payton, THA should be an a$$load higher, as in low to mid 90’s cmon 6 games 0 picks, they gave garrard and collins 92s and his pathetic 85 is lower than colt brennans 87, still…pretty much everything else is dead on in his rant except horton, good god hes an 80! just give him the extra 2 points he lead the team in tackles with 9! now that im done with the home team upgrades how bout the away:
marshawn lynch minus 5 should be an 85, hes the 19th ranked back in the league and it shows!
michael turner and chris johnson moderate increases as they are better than lynch
jake delhome moderate decrease, qb rating below 80
chad pennington moderate increase, what the crap is this guy doing with a 98 qb rating?
and to firstpick: the bengals defense may not have given up a 100 yd WR, but id rather have 1 100yd reciever than 6 50 yard recievers….
October 14, 2008 at 6:57 am
how about a decrease on the speed of the raiders deffence
more decrease to RUSSELL throwing acc 13 for 35

it’s ridiculous…the ratings are so off base now i won’t even touch this game until they get the ratings right. bengals are good? falcons suck? i’m a raiders fan and my team is rated wrong all over the place.
THERE SHOULD BE NO 99S IN THIS GAME and very few HIGH 90S! why can’t they make the ratings like nhl…it would be a much more dynamic game
October 14, 2008 at 1:03 pm
raiders4life shut up your team realy suck in real life and is over rated in the game it should be lower then the dolfines 50 – 65 range and they are way to fast

October 14, 2008 at 3:14 pm
im glad im an EAGLES fan cause we may have the only secondary in the league that might even be able to contain the DALLAS three headed monster receiving corp….WOW never thought u would hear that right? this is scary as HELL!!!!!!!!!!!
October 14, 2008 at 3:47 pm
TO ALL MY TAMPA BAY FANS:::::: WE NEED TO RALLY TOGETHER BECAUSE IT SEEMS THAT EA DOESN’T CARE ABOUT US…WE HAVEN’T ALLOWED NO 100 YD RUSHERS YET…NO RUSHING TD’S….THE 2 GMS WE LOST WERE BY A TOTAL OF 7 PTS..BOTH AWAY…WE SHUTDOWN THE PANTHERS AND FALCONS AND HELD THE NO.1 OFFENSE(DENVER) TO ONLY 16 PTS AT THEIR HOUSE…MICHAEL CLAYTON AND ANTONIO BRYANT ARE PLAYING OUTSTANDING OVERALL NOT TO MENTION MR. THIRD DOWN IKE HILLIARD…O-LINE TOP 3 IN THE LEAGUE…NOBODY’S THROWING TO BUCHANAN’S SIDE AND WE’RE ROTATING ALL THE DEFENSE SO IM MY OPINION EVERYBODY ON DEFENSE NEEDS A HUGE BOOST

more like a 5 headed monster coz dnt forget that romo will throw to barber alot as u probably saw with that huge td to barber from a screen play and there is crayton too who can be a threat when given a good ball in some space
October 14, 2008 at 5:04 pm
T.O. has to go down. if hes not catching tds hes non existent. take out the tds and desean jackson, roddy white, bernard berrian, reggie bush, lance moore, and santana moss have put up way more yds and catches and some did it with less catches and thats just the nfc. and dont use the “phantom” double coverage B.S. excuse

October 14, 2008 at 6:32 pm

oh ok lol coz i was gonna say barber has been a threat in the pass most of the season, and i rate crayton he just doesnt get enough ball his way and theres a good reason for that beacause of tha names that are in front of him.

hmmm justin forsett activated from the practice squad…. maybe he’ll get a run against the bucs this weekend?
October 14, 2008 at 10:23 pm
Frank Gore needs to be at least 96ovr, he should be within the top 3 backs in Madden, leading NFL in scrimmage, over past 3 years he has the second highest total yards. consistently has big games. give him love and make him better, 93ovr is a joke
