Nintendo has announced a new Punch-Out coming to the Wii. You can check out screens and the trailer here. This is what Facebreaker should’ve been but didn’t come near achieving. The Wii version of Facebreaker will be releasing next month and apparently has shown some promise but I’ve been soured on the concept of the game now. I like the thought of the more old school Punch-Out experience.
For those who don’t buy NBA Live 09 new the purchase of the Live 365 service is apparently supposed to be $10. PSN has listed the item incorrectly for $20 and that should be corrected in the near future. Even at $10 I’m not sure how many people would spring for it as an add-on, but there is no doubt it is a fantastic feature and is already paying dividends that will increase greatly once the season starts.
Site visitors/forum members Cabrillo24 and Tomba321 have created custom slider sets for NBA Live 09. You can find all the details on them and leave your feedback in the forum. The EA Locker this year allows for downloading of slider sets that have been uploaded and designated as public. For 360 users in the game’s menu go to: Xbox Live – My NBA Live 09 Content – EA Locker – Global Content – Settings. Grab from the gamertags cabrillo24 and/or DARTH KTULU.
I continue to get questions regarding the potential downloadable content for Madden 09 that had been discussed a while back. While there has been no definitive response one way or the other I am not expecting anything to come of it. Basically don’t hold your breath. At this point I’d just expect what was to be offered in the DLC to be included with Madden 2010.
The next NBA Live 09 OTP night will be Tuesday at 5pt/8et. As dictated by the poll the club team been changed to the Hornets for the time being. The next EASHL night with NHL 09 will be Thursday at 5pt/8et. If you need invites to either club leave your gamertag in the comments.
I would love to see “signature” running and throwing styles in next year’s Madden. I also agree w/James that there should be refs & chaingangs on the field. I also wouldn’t mind seeing fumble pileons too. The fumble animations are clearly last-gen and they seem pre-animated w/no user control. “If it’s in the game…” BTW, when I fire up a baseball or hoop game, players are recognizable by their “looks” in game…high socks, headbands, tattoos, etc…..why can’t Madden do the same? Portis should look different…Lynch should look different…many NFL players wear different sock combinations and gear to set themselves apart and Madden all looks the same……boo

CO-SIGN EVERTHING ROOT sed
ESPECIALLY PILE-ONS & tats / accessories
I second that… I mean jeremy shockey looks exactly like kevin boss without his tats. I mean how much longer can EA fans stand the same facemask animation, because there is only one and everyone knows what I’m talking about… any Madden fan care to comment on how much longer they can stand only one animation for the facemask?

Now before everyone jumps on me and says I’m in EA’s bag (funny how a lot of people were saying that I was a 2K boy during the beginning of the summer). I own both game, I create sliders for both games.
For those that asked what I’m wanting more out of 2K, here it is. Please don’t reply with (well Live doesn’t have that…or Live is jacked up). I’m stating what I would like to see more out of 2K and the following is to do with 2K ONLY. I added a couple more in there from players that have already gone ahead and are in their second year of franchise mode as well.
Don’t switch on picks, better pick and roll defense.
More realistic All-NBA teams IAW the NBA format
Superstar mode
Arguing calls/ejections (all-star players and above)
Different Venue for All-Star Games in franchise mode
More options in create a player
D-League
Injured players on the bench in suits
Warmups
Player introductions
NBA Finals/Playoff player introductions
Summer League
Bring back camera
Help Side Blocks
Off the ball fouls
Fake Passes
Restricted Free Agents
Championship Celebration…over-hyped
Harder fouls (flagarants)
Fans holding banners (KOBE, MVP, NBA on 2Ksports?)
The point that I’m making is that 2K9 is not complete. Rather I’m saying, a lot of sports games do miss out on some small stuff, and some major stuff.
As a consumer and a gamer, I’m very happy with my sports games this year
Madden 09 – great game
Tiger Woods 09 – Love the Wii version
Top Spin 3 – Very good tennis game
NCAA Football – It was pretty good, still felt a little empty
NBA Live 09 – decent out the box, but with sliders it begins to shine a little
NBA 2K9 – improved a lot, and the better basketball game this year
MLB the Show — Makes me want to see more of a career mode in the NBA games
FIFA is next for me, and then NCAA basketball.

Yea sdot has a point…. you said “big deal” to madden having refs in the game but have this list of things 2k could do to their basketball series… you should follow up on what madden could do to improve their game

see, I knew you guys would twist it. I was responding to a comment someone above me had asked what was missing from 2K since I said all sports games are missing things. To me it’s no big deal. Of course refs in the game would be nice, but it’s not a deal breaker for me that was the point I was making. So sdot, how about you read an entire conversation before thinking you have the upper hand, because it really just made you look more ignorant than you usually appear. Really, scroll up and read.

“What r some things 2k9 is missing? I always thought they did a good job of always having the lil things in there games.”
He was asking in question with regards to the statement that I made that all games miss on the intangibles of the game and they really don’t make or break a game.
sdot = owned. Thanks boy.
Ok, a lot of people are talking about the refs? Who freaking cares? Really, how does that affect gameplay?
Madden 09 was a great game, period. Second best sports game this year behind NHL 09.
I care. It’s unexcusable that it’s 2009 & they stll don’t have the basics aspects of an NFL game down. Madden is a good game on the field but EA needs to understand that little details do matter & make & big difference. Little details are what made NFL 2K5 so great & is what 2K prides themselves on to separate themselves from EA. Since we’re on the subject, they also need fix the sideline graphics & make the players on the sidelines look players on the field. I’m tired of not trying to look at the sidelines so that my feeling of playing a real NFL game doesn’t get ruined.

Refs are a huge part of the game of football……just ask Ed Hochuli!!!
the only thing I would like to see sometime soon would be some gadget plays in Madden. There’s no reverse, dbl reverse or fake reverses, no HB Pass Option, no “Wildcat” plays, etc. etc. etc. I know Buffalo has a fleaflicker in it’s playbook but it is designed very poorly. All teams have them in their real world playbooks. There is 100′s of plays in Madden but many are similar and EA has no creativity.

…in NFL2K5 you could run toss right, toss right, toss right and then mix in a WR Reverse left and everyone one overpurues the play. Sorry, I like Madden this year but damn, I wonder how good NFL2K9 could be today!

I agree… I have been a loyal madden fan up until it jumped to next gen and I know that if 2k was able to make an NFL game I probably would have made the switch this year (similar to making the switch to Nba 2k in 08… and never turning back)

I can see where youre coming from but it wasnt the lack of refs that were the dealbreaker for me… its the lack of detail and childish features (rewind and madden IQ)… I mean c’mon everyone would agree that they would rather have more animations and refs on the field than the ability to rewind the game, I just dont see where Maddens priorities are at… but 2k always pays attention to what matters, in 2k9 they stressed gameplay and authenticity which is what real sports gamers (the ones who buy it year in and year out) care about.
Next year I guarantee that Madden will add chain gangs but leave out the refs claiming they’ll “try and get it in next year”… who knows they could even leave take out the hit stick and then add it in in Madden 2011 just to get more sales

Hey Pasta, are you going to cover Madden’s sales numbers when they’re released later this week (10/16)? Based on what I’ve seen from VGchartz’s weekly numbers, it looks like Madden’s sales are in the toilet this year. Maybe the stale experience offered by Tiburon every year is finally catching up with them. I sure hope so.

sdot, you didn’t read did you? it’s obvious? I never said 2K was incomplete. I said that sports game in general always miss the small intangibles. NBA2K then asked me what specifically about 2K basketball was missing, not to start an arguement. Then I stated what was missing, not critizing the game, but simply showing even the better rated games do tend to miss things. So sdot, you’re owned. The majority agree with you, only because they thought I was bashing 2K basketball, when in all actuality I was answering a question by someone else and you wanted to jump in.
The point I was making is that small intangibles are not deal breakers for me when it comes to sports gaming. Missing refs doesn’t bring down madden for me. Fans lacking signs in stands doesn’t bring down the value of 2K basketball. Sdot, you’re such a moron that I can’t help but laugh when you try to get on your soap box on here and you go off on a totally different direction or take something out of context and twist it to start arguing. I’m seriously going to start calling you John McCain from now on, ok boy?

I would love to see horrible sales from Madden so they could get their act together but in all honesty I doubt they had horrible sales… it’s the only football game on the market and given all the hype and coverage they have on it it probably sold very well

I would love to see horrible sales from Madden so they could get their act together but in all honesty I doubt they had horrible sales… it’s the only football game on the market and given all the hype and coverage they have on it it probably sold very well
