One of the things I mentioned in my impressions of Blitz: The League II is the use of Frank Caliendo as an announcer in the campaign mode. Das Gamer has an interesting interview with BTL producer Jacob Beucler that goes discusses the use of Caliendo, Jay Mohr, and some of the other elements that make up what the game is all about.
While NBA 2K9’s dreadful online play experience continues 2K has explained a few workarounds to a couple online league related gripes. There is one for playing through with a semi-flex schedule and another for attaching highlight videos to league game recaps.
The saddest part of the news that the NBA Street franchise is going on hiatus is the reasoning given: “But if Wii Sports has taught us anything, it’s that people will sit there and play big head tennis all day long.” – Peter Moore. I guess that means offerings like EA’s Celebrity Sports Showdown or 2K’s MLB Superstars are the direction these companies are going…
EA has asked me to clarify the reasoning behind the real schedules not being included in NCAA Basketball 09 (instead being patched in after release). Apparently they did not receive the schedules from most of the schools until relatively recently missing the point where they would’ve been able to get them in. Unless something has changed though it doesn’t explain how the College Hoops series had been able to include them.
Look for the five NBA 2K9 highlights and poll late tonight and the NBA Live 09 highlights and poll on Sunday. Voting for each will run for two full days to determine the winners.

Any word on whether/when there will be a College Basketball 2009 Demo?

From my own experience in the sports reporting industry I can say that with college basketball schedules especially, it can be awhile before they are finalized.
Though your right about 2K having them in the game. I’m not sure if 2Ks were absolutely spot on for every school, some schools had a lot fewer games than others (this was probably mostly due to D-II/III/NAIA scheduling), but they seemed accurate otherwise. I just imagine 2K was a little more serious about it. As far as I know EA still doesn’t think Northern Colorado is a D-I team, even though they’ve been D-I and conference affiliated (Big Sky) for two, going on three seasons.

EA sports is becoming a freakin joke of a company.
If they have a game, with no competition, ala Madden and College B-ball, it seems like they have a real lackadaisical attitude towards things that otherwise shouldn’t have been an issue.
They do things half assed instead of actually doing a competent job and it’s sad to see.

I love how Pasta says, “EA has asked me to clarify”
Good stuff. Of course Pasta will comply since he basically is employed by them and doesn’t want his precious perks taken away.
Pathetic.

He is? I guess we would all listen to a company who gave us free games. so Dont hate. Dont hate the hustle player hate the game.

Just wanted to clarify guys.
We did not receive all of the authentic schedules from the NCAA for the College B-ball teams so we couldn’t put them into the game for ship. I can’t speak for what any other company did with schedules in the past, but I can speak on our end.
These are the facts guys. As we now have the exclusive college basketball license, we acted according to what the NCAA gave us.
You will all receive the authentic team schedules in a patch that will follow after release!

can we just say bad year for sports games overall!!!!!!!!!

@ kc10785…
In my opinion, this has been a great year for sports games.
MLB The Show 08 is one of the best baseball games I have seen or played on a console (of course, if you own a 360 MLB 2K was brutal)
NCAA Football and Madden offer improved experiences…Are they perfect? No but if you get past the nit-picking these games have a solid fun-factor
NBA Live and NBA 2K are both solid efforts providing virtual hoopers more choices
NCAA Basketball is shaping up to be a solid product. Yeah, so the schedules won’t be released immediately but they will be in the game
NHL 09 is one of the best hockey, if not sports, video games of all time
FIFA 09 is awesome
