I am not concerned with the visuals as long as the games move at a fast pace and the stats are accurate. I would like to go through several 162 game seasons without simming…

Its actually not a bad idea… Im actually having a lot of fun playing GM with 2k8, simming thru seasons trying to win it all. Im playing with the Yankees and by season 2011 Derek Jeter retired, so i signed Miguel Tejada for 1 year and Arod retired by 2012 and i signed Longoria for a 6 year contract. So im there looking for free agents and making deals, building a team with a few All Stars and role players.

Also developing minor leaguers and seeing their numbers to see if they can compete in the Bigs.

This new game should be deeper than that therefore should be very interesting.

I thought when 2K signed the contract with MLB they agreed to do three different games per year as part of the contract. Maybe Padre can correct me?

I like the idea of a Front Office Baseball game but it would have to be really deep and I would have to be able to manage the team as well on a game-by-game basis. I would want contract negotiations with different types of agents, Rule 5 drafts, arbitration, 40-man rosters in September — stuff we don’t get in any of the existing games. I would want crazy, odd stuff happening as well — minor leaguers getting suspended for steroids, players sounding off to the media, players missing signs, etc.

Exactly! It’s not like there’s a huge market for these type of games. Baseball is already long & drawn out as it is let alone trying to play as a manager. It just seems like in todays society there’s way to much to do & not enough time. Who has time to sit down & spend 2 to 4 hours out of their day trying to play this game when there’s so many other good games out there? I don’t get this move by 2K.

Could be a disc space issue (Head Coach nearly filled a full disc so it isn’t as though it could just be combined with Madden) but essentially they’re putting in double the work and that wouldn’t make good business sense. If they can split it and have two different games that appeal to different demographics, or can get people to purchase both, that’s what they’ll do. This is a different studio making this game also…it isn’t as though they’re working side by side with the 2K9 developers.

This looks like a good idea, and I will definetely be buying it. With the MLB 2k series, I always would play the first motnth of my franchise, get bored and end up trying to make trades and get my team younger anyway. This looks to be a great buy for someone like me who has more of an interest in building a team.

Although…Pasta, Why is it that these games can’t package gameplay into it as well? Can’t they combine their baseball game with this deep franchise mode?

I hope the graphics are no indication of what the MLB 2K9 graphics will be like…although the grass looks decent…
