wow calm down dawg…apparently you never watch the pistons play…. he is our best player not talent wise (like rasheed) but he plays hard and is one of the smartest PGs in the game..in terms of pure point guards he is way better than chauncey

I think both teams got exactly what they’ve been needed the past couple years. Detriot got an elite scorer, who can create is own shot, and help spread the defense a lot more with his penetrating and shooting. They also give themselves cap flexibility if things do not work out, and can further develop Stucky.

For the nuggets, they finally have a solid true point guard (again) who isn’t as demanding with the ball as Iverson was, which should give Melo more shots, but more importantly give JR Smith more looks. This also balances the starting lineup, and will move JR to the starting lineup as the SG and Billups at the 1. Defensively, on the wing and perimeter, this is going to be an upgraded team defensively. I still don’t like the Camby trade, it shouldn’t have been done, but hey, this was a great trade for both teams, but it does give Detriot the opportunity to rebuild without becoming a lottery team (ala San Antonio).

@Mike G. — The thing is, Iverson was already on the Pistons’ roster as of Monday night because he was one of the inactives for the game. Therefore, it should’ve been an easy, logical step to add him to the roster for Live.

I agree wit Baron but he’s like Tracy McGrady. They both probably have the most natural talent in the league meaning that they make it look easy but neither one of them can stay healthy. They’re not durable & they’re injury prone. You have to consider that when ranking the best players in the league.

Billups also gives them a 3 point threat out there, which should help Melo who likes to isolate or go on the block.

As for the Camby trade, I understood the intangibles behind it, but here are my gripes.

- You don’t rebuild in the west unless you completely implode a team. They aren’t getting rid of Melo, but you have to keep him happy, or he’ll jet first opportunity or demand a trade.

- By trading Camby they saved cap space, but trade for Billups who has how many years left on his contract (2 years)? Are they rebuilding or are they trying to contend? You bring someone like Billups in to contend. If they are rebuilding, it would make sense to keep A.I. and let his contract expire, or trade him for a big contract + younger talent or draft picks. This wasn’t the case. Therefore, thats why I believe the Camby trade in retrospect is a boneheaded move as they appear to not be rebuilding by taking a longer contract than A.I.

But it was a good trade when you just analyze that in itself, but doesn’t justify Denver’s actions over the summer. Lottery team this year, and they’ll trade Billup’s over the summer going into the final year of his contract.

I’m not a big fan of B-Diddy’s game. He’s played well on mediocer teams. Don’t get me wrong, he has talent, but shoots a very low FG%, has been injury prone, until recently out of shape, and gambles too much on both the offensive and defensive end.

I’m a UCLA fan, I’m from southern California, I watched B-Diddy play a lot. He’s an exciting player. A.I.’s shooting percentage is low, but what made him him a HoF caliber player was his competitiveness, MVP award, all-star births, all-nba awards, scoring championships and taking the 76ers to the finals with no other talent on the team and having the title for being pound for pound the toughest guy in the NBA.

I’m not trying to knock B-Diddy’s game, but he shoots right at 40% and shoots way too many 3′s. He’s played in offenses that pretty much put the ball in his hands, but with the exception of Dallas a couple years ago, what has he done for me lately?

He has been injured throughout the years, last year he was healthy, but it looks like he’s a little bruised up to begin the season.

I have to get going, but CP3 and D-Will both shot better from the outside than B-diddy last year. Will continue this convo when I get home.

Fact is Baron Davis shoots in high volumes and is a poor shooter. REAL TALK

Any GM in the NBA would take the aforementioned PG’s I mentioned over Baron Davis. Baron Davis doesn’t make anyone better, he can’t play without the ball, he isolates way too much.

Currently 22 point guards have a higher player efficiency rating than Baron Davis. Since you obviously don’t follow basketball and you questions me picking Calderon over Davis. Take a look below.

Baron Davis:
12 ppg, 6 assist, 3 rebounds, 27% 3PTc, 34 FG and 2.3 turnovers and 3.3 fouls per game, oh the Clippers haven’t won a game yet..27 minutes a game

Jose Calderon:
19.5 ppg, 9.3 assist, 4 rebounds, 54% 3PT, and 52% FG (over 50% for career), and 100% FT with 2.25 turnovers and 2.25 fouls per game, Toronto 3-1….38 minutes a game.

Here is something for you to take. Why do you think Steve Kerr is regarded as one of the better long range shooters in NBA history? The man didn’t take high volumes of shot. He consistently hit over the 50% throughout the season. CP3 and D-Will don’t take as many shots as Baron Davis, but they consistently hit more shots than him throughout an entire season and get the reputation of being better shooters.

The fact that Davis continues to shoot in large volumes from beyond the arc baffles me, when he obviously has a strength advantage and should be posting up more instead of trying to act like he’s playing on the school yard and on a hot streak. If you shoot enough shots your bound to make one, but that’s why they track field goal percentage to see how effective you are and how much of a threat you are. He’s flat out inconsistent sdot, and I can’t believe you are making this arguement. No one will agree with you on the points you made. Just because he’s a beast in NBA 2K9 doesn’t mean he is in real life. REAL TALK.

Billups is overrated, yet has been to the Eastern Conference Finals how many times? He’s been an all-star how many times? Finals MVP?

Nash is STILL an all-star and still putting up great numbers despite his age.

Arenas is a franchise player and the face of his team, even while injured.

Rudy Fernandez is putting up around 15 ppg off the bench and making it look so easy. The man will be the best point guard in the league in a few years.

As for Arenas having more turnovers, you’re right, by .5

Davis has average 1.5 more assist per game than Arenas, but Arenas has average 6 more points, shot a higher percentage and has a higher true shooting percentage.
