Posted November 12th, 2008 at 3:46 pm

Here are the details on the next roster update for Madden 09 which is set to be out on Friday. Included are all the transactions, ratings up/down, and injuries for the 11th update of the season. Not sure there is anything as significant in this as in prior ones with the possible exception of DeAngelo Hall joining the Redskins. HB Cedric Benson – Bengals – 78 to 79 – Has taken the starting running back job for the Bengals.
DT Shaun Rogers – Browns – 95 to 96 – Traded in the offseason for Leigh Bodden. Back to being the monster he was.
LB D’Qwell Jackson – Browns – 86 to 87 – Racking up a ton of tackles in the middle for the Browns.
QB Kurt Warner – Cardinals – 88 to 91 – In the conversation for MVP as many times as the Cardinals throw.
LT Mike Gandy – Cardinals – 92 to 93 – Not thought of as an elite pass blocker but is.
WR Jerheme Urban – Cardinals – 72 to 74 – Starting to get looks in the 4 WR package.
QB Tyler Thigpen – Chiefs – 73 to 75 – Got a boost in throw power as he showed he has an NFL arm.
WR Mark Bradley – Chiefs – 73 to 77 – Has risen up the KC depth chart in no time.
CB Andre Goodman – Dolphins – 74 to 76 – Detroit fans might scoff but has played well in Miami the past couple weeks.
QB Matt Ryan – Falcons – 84 to 86 – Is the real deal.
DE John Abraham – Falcons – 94 to 96 – Continuing to be a pass rushing monster under Mike Smith.
CB Darrelle Revis – Jets – 91 to 92 – The new budding star for “shutdown” talk.
CB Charles Woodson – Packers – 93 to 94 – Had some missteps with Bobby Wade but showed his incredible smarts picking off a pass in the slot.
S Nick Collins – Packers – 88 to 89 – Took his 3rd TD back to the house. A play he wouldn’t have made earlier in his career.
DE Julius Peppers – Panthers – 96 to 97 – Continued to dominate as he rolled through Oakland.
QB Matt Cassell – Patriots – 77 to 78 – Continues to move the ball less than 10 yards at a time.
DE Aaron Smith – Steelers – 95 to 96 – Dominate at end for the Steelers.
LB James Harrison – Steelers – 94 to 95 – Showing his versatility by being in coverage more against Indy. A pass rushing monster.
LB LaMarr Woodley – Steelers – 86 to 87 – High up the sack leaders list in his second season.
DT Tony Brown – Titans – 86 to 88 – Racked up 30 tackles and 3.5 sacks with an impressive 7 tackles for loss.
QB Kerry Collins – Titans – 79 to 81 – Had to win last week with his arm as the running game didn’t dominate for the first time.

Ratings Down

C Melvin Fowler – Bills – 83 to 81 – Another in a long line of guys to get hurt for a couple weeks and find their spots taken when they get back.

S Jarrad Page – Chiefs – 81 to 77 – Looks to be on the bench after Jon McGraw played well against San Diego.
WR Marvin Harrison – Colts – 95 to 94 – Continues to be a non-factor. This time because he can’t hold on the ball.

The Ravens are being screwed. Flacco’s stats and wins are every bit as good as Matt Ryans why isnt Flacco higher. Ray Rice was moved down and then rushed for 154 yds and never went back up. suggs & lewis are having outstanding seasons. when a steelers lineman went on ir his replacement got a boost. what about the Leonhard & Frank Walker are doing. the ravens have a 3 headed rushing attack and its thanks to their young line who havent had a boost. Finall Haloti Ngata is one of the best d lineman i n the league he can line up at D end/ dtackle/ linbacker at times even. The cowboys kept going up and never went back down. the ravens are joint 1st in their division and havent been getting the madden love. From a pissed off Irish Man

Is there anywhere u can see the complete rosters and ratings? what should Flacco be officially?

Ryan has more yards, better avg yards per pass, and better TD/INT ratio. What do you mean Flacco’s stats are every bit as good as Ryan’s? Ryan also has more passes of 20 yards or more and 40 yards or more, not to mention better QB rating.

I thik Benjarvus-Green Ellis should have gotten a boost, the kid went off last week, maybe like a 79. Portis still needs a little update, Antonio Bryant should be like an 84. Tim Hightower maybe an 81. Pennington like 87, Joey Porter a little boost. Jerod Mayo go up a little, maybe an 87-88. Peppers and Abraham could both be 98s, there doing dirty. Ray Lewis is having argueably his best season yet, maybe a 98 for him. Tyler Thigpen should be a 78 or so, he’s been very good lately. Cassel has been effective and should be about an 80, along with Kevin Faulk getting a little love. Also, Leon Washington should be 99 elusiveness, and Thomas Jones like a 91. Two cents

  • Borgi

Oh, and Joe Flacco could use a little ups, he’s been very solid as of late

What is going on with this GIANTS hatred by EA sports and Madden I don’t get it
Madden openly professed that Madison Hedgecock is the best blocking FB in the NFL, hmmm where is the stats to upport this?

Tillman gets and increase for 2 INT”s 14 pass def? Corey Webster has 3 INT’s 17 pass def but no increase.

Aaron Smith a dominate DE? he has 30 tackles 4 sacks? Justin Tuck has 39 Tac 8.5 Sacks hmm Kiwanuka has 29 Tac 5.5 sacks and he’s an 86 Peppers has 29 tac 7 sacks and he goes up to 97 help me out here.

Carney is perfect on the season outside of 1 blocked fg that wasn’t his fault and he’s a 88 there’s guys that are rookies and 1st year players that are 97 ovr and haven’t made nearly as many FG’s this year and have more misses.

What about our rookie LB’s Kehl and Goff stepping in for injuries and playing well? What about Chase Blackburn?

What about Jacobs being a top 4 RB with better YPC than any of them still a 90 ovr when u got guys like Barber, and many others having subpar years still rated higher.

If it’s in the game it’s in the game as long as it’s not the SB champions with an 8-1 season. Tell me 1 last thing if Pats or Cowgirls won the SB and then were 8-1 the following season what would their OVR be? I rest my case.

Aaron Smith is one of the most dominant lineman in the NFL!

Peppers should not have gone up!

The only roster updates the Ravens are getting are IR moves. 16 IR players so far this year. Flacco shoud be equal with Matt Ryan their stats are similar to each other.

yo diewreck if you knew anything about the 3-4 scheme you would know Aaron Smith is probably the most dominant player on the best defense in the league. I think you should know it after brandon jacobs was crying on the sideline after getting stuffed on virtually every play. Smith takes up two blockers on every play and gives the linebackers room to make all the plays. 4 sacks for a Steeler 3-4 DE is a lot. Smith is there to stuff the run and take up blockers not to rush the QB.

these updates are horrible, why aren’t any of the stats going up on the colts? they’ve got their game back and gonzalez is doing a great job considering he’s sourrounded by exceptional talent and still has a good amount of catches. i agree on the harrison thing, it really pissed me of to watch that game because he dropped three catches that any 90 overall or higher reciever should catch, i say drop him to about a 91 or even a 90. quit letting ego’s and past stats of present players affect their ratings, if their playing good now, bump them, if their playing exceptional (*cough* eddie royal) raise them 3 or maybe 4 overall points, and if their playing badly DON’T WAIT UNTIL IT’S 5 WEEKS LATER TO DROP THEM, DO IT NOW, AND IF YOUR WRONG, RAISE IT THE NEXT WEEK, isn’t that the point of weekly updates, to rate them on how they’ve been playing, not on how they should play or might play… EA needs to get this right by next year, or their going to get some serious s*** from their fans, madden’s the only full fledged nfl game out there, if your not going to do the updates right, don’t do them at all

    @ Nick Wright:

matt ryan also has better recievers and turner is taking pressure off of him by running the ball, mcalister isn’t doing a thing and flacco has average recievers at best, although he does have a great defense, which always helps.

thats a good idea, but it would take forever to get the updates and it would be a very slow system. too many players in the nfl, around 55 players per team for 32 teams, just too much to handle@ James:

i agree 100% on the ricky williams thing, he outran the defensive backs, and if i’m not mistaken by madden lore “d-b’s might not be able to catch, but their the fastest on the field”. they should have some dignity and agree with themselves and boost his speed@ Dolfan70:

    Richard Marshall 40 tackles 35 solo 5 assist 0 sack 0 FF 1 int
    Chris Harris 38 tackles 29 solo 9 assist 0 sack 2 FF
I mean we should get Play Rec if not AWR. Something isn’t quite right there.

Also Delo Williams is the starter and his rating and yardage has definitely define he should be rated a bit better than Johnathan Stewart. Delo did single handly run Carolina Panthers pass the Oakland Raiders with 140 yards. Even though one of his runs was 69 yards, Still he was the spot light on offense and his AWR shouldn’t be 64. That would make him low class back. Come on now, you can’t be serious.
