NCAA Basketball Info Rolling In

Fred over at SportsGamer has received a copy of NCAA Basketball 09 and is providing a good deal of content. Included are screenshots and video highlights via EA Sports World which you’ll have to view in the respective thread as they are not visible via the main areas of EASW as of yet. There are also basic impressions and dynasty details, lists of all the classic teams included, and the chance to ask questions about the game or ratings.

Yeah that’s the feeling I’ve had about it for quite some time, and in all likelihood the demo was representative of the final product which I didn’t want to play anymore after the first couple times through. Lacks modes that we’re now accustomed to which stings the most. Online Team Play, Be a Pro, Online Dynasty, names online, Academy, ect. This quote from Fred summed it up.

“the game has a real barebones feel to it. not many extras.”

Maybe for some people it does offer enough but I struggle to find much of anything that could keep me interested in it with so many other great games out or coming out shortly.

Looking forward to it. I’m a big NCAA basketball fan. I see the classic teams list. I guess Michigan beat Syracuse in 1989. I’m a Seton Hall alum, so that bugs me to see Syracuse in there and not Seton Hall.

Oh lord, and this is the only college basketball game we can play. I guess EA really mailed this one in. Thankfully I still have College Hoops 2K8, and I heard that there are some people over at OS working on 2009 rosters.

I just do not understand how EA can think that releasing this game w/out all the teams, with generic arenas, and without features we’ve had in games the last 3 years, was a good idea?

Honestly, why anyone would pick this up instead of sticking with College Hoops 2K8 makes no sense to me. I love Live 09, so I am not a 2k slappy, but seriously EA- just take a year off, get all the content into this game as 2K8 had, polish up the gameplay, and then release your game. Asking someone to spend $50 on this is rediculous.

BTW- When are the 09 CH2K8 rosters dropping onto 2Kshare?

Pasta did you and Fred not play MM08 last year? Most a lot of the little things that he thinks is new is what Dynasty mode had last year. Everything is literally fine tuned thats all. And the Tourney games simming is because if you play a late game on thursday then it will sim all the early games for that day( it does that in conference tourney;s as well). MM series has done that for a while now, to me its realistic. Pasta I think you should at least rent it because you might like Dynasty mode. One thing in dynasty mode that is greatly underated is ESPN GAMECAST. NCAA football should take a page from it because it actually is not broken. If you put it on slow pace and 20 min you can actually manage (subs, timeouts, defense pressure, etc.) the game without playing it.

I played it last year, liked the low post game, but it was so slow that killed it for me. I enjoyed College Hoops much more. If NCAA had an online dynasty I’d be excited for it but as it is now it really doesn’t offer anything for me.

People, your suggestions that EA should take the year off for any title doesn’t make any sense from a business stand point. Their games sell, it appeals to their base, end of story. Personally I like the direction that they are going in, and really taking advantage of the community day events and also polling the Live community in general, a year layoff from that would hurt the strides they have made the last couple years.

Pasta, you know you’re getting it. You’d be too tempted not to get it. That’s how I am with all sports games. I just have to try it out for myself. I bought FIFA and have yet to play it, lol. It’s sad, I have like 2 dozen games still in their wrappers over the past year. I don’t have the time like I used to.
