Early Look at Madden 2010 Running Animations

EA Sports has released two videos providing an opportunity to see some running animations being worked into Madden 2010. This obviously isn’t gameplay footage but instead a chance for an unprecedented glimpse into what goes into a game still very early in the development process. I think it's cool that they are keeping the community updated on the development process. But, I would like to see a variety of different running styles. Something that will make each running back look and feel unique.

Yeah kinda like they do in the Nba games have the players have like there own running styles like when they made Tiki Barber Hold The Ball Funny When he started doing that in real life so he wouldn't fumble

EA should at least give star players they're own signature animations. But i have no faith in them doing something awesome like that.
They'll probably just churn out another gimmick ridden game and turn the hype machine key. Its amazing how little progress madden has actually made since 1999… almost 10 years and not one signature animation, no online dynasty, a horrific superstar mode, the same create a team logo's and b.s. and graphically the game looks like its straight out of 2001. BUT OH WAIT, THEY FINALLY GOT SNOW AND RAIN IN AN ONLINE GAME….HOOORAY!!!!

The 1st improvement I want to see is refs on the field & chaingangs. If they go another year without getting the basics of an NFL game right then I'm done with Madden for the rest of my life! They better improve the sidelines (make the players on the sidelines look like players on the field). The sidelines better have collision detection too (What happened to the days of running over the chaingangs?). If I see one more player phantomly walk through another player on the sideline I'm gonna snap! While they're at it, the pileons need to have collision detection too. This is going to be Madden 2010 & there's no excuse why EA can't get this right this year. No more stupid gimick features just go back to the basics EA for God's sake!

EA's spin move isn't even a spin at all…it is more of a pivot. When I watch a player put a spin move on a defender in the NFL, they do it not to change direction but to "elude" a defender and quickly spin on a dime. Please let them know Pasta that this is unacceptable. NFL2K5 used to have a stutter step (R analog up) right before contact and auto spun when needed and it felt very real. If no contact…no spin, just a few stutters. Worked very well in the open field…………..stiff arms are too quick too. I wanna see a guy run 5 yds upfield sometimes w/his hand in a DB's face!

Yeah i agree that they need to speed the game up. It still feels really choppy and it seems like all players are the same speed. Why are lineman able to catch me when i'm returning an interception with a CORNERBACK? In this game there are only a few players who are really fast ( westbrook, peterson, tomlinson to name a few ) and the only reason they are so fast is cuz everyone else is so damn slow. They also need to totally revamp the catching animations. They look stupid and you hardly have any control over your receivers.

he seems to still run to upright…. when i was a fullback i was always tought to run low when you have the ball(that goes for all backs) and when the model jukes and spins he goes low bu other than that it seems to high…or maybe thats just me.

it seems as if madden has taken more out of the game that what they have put into it
a simple things as team cleats and team colour gloves shouldn't be too hard
i wish they would put in new face masks, they have had the same ones for about three years now?
there have been no new play accessories for a long time now (those dumb coloured visors dont' count)
it would be awsome if they had half time shows and player interviews

Looking at the animations, I honestly can't see any difference from Madden '09. I think that Madden 2010 is a pivotal game for EA Sports next year because there's so many people out there that are praying that the game delivers in areas that were problematic or poor with this year's game.
The two areas that I see that need major improvement are presentation and Dynasty mode. Little details that give the game more atmosphere are missing. This is problematic since attention to detail and getting the presentation side of things spot on is one of those things that help keep gamers playing long after a game is released.
The other thing is Dynasty mode. It just feels like it's in need of a major overhaul. There are many people who have stated that the mode itself is lacking some key things and that it just feels stale. Madden 2010 really needs to address this area as many Maddenities look to Dynasty mode as the main mode that they play.

Uhh…dont pay attention to the jukes so much as you do the actual running. It does look smoother and maybe that was the point. I know that sometimes in Madden the running looks choppy. the jukes still look funny but at least the running looks smoother.

The improvements i want to see:
- referees on the field throwing flags
-3 types of uniforms for each team
-more realistic pass blocking from the o-line (step back and stand tall and make a pocket for the quarterback)
-quick releases of the throws from the quarterbacks (depends on the quarterbacks though)
-receivers fight for the ball (in the air too)
-MORE IMPROVED SIDELINES

-more penalties such as: personal foul, illegal snaps, offensive pass interference
-different referees (NOT THE SAME OLD MAN PLZ)
-referees call the penalties and the player's numbers (ex. "Encroachment, defense, on number 90")
-more realistic crowds (ex. whistles, booing, flags, etc.)
-MORE GANG TACKLES (5 ppl duckpile on a ball carrier)
-add more abilities for quarterbacks. not just throw power and accuracy (ex. Throw Release)
-MORE PLAYS (ex. wildcat formations, receiver run, fk receiver sweep pass, safety delay blitz, quick pass, bubble screen, HB toss pass, HB toss fk FB trap)
- MORE REALISTIC GOAL LINE SITUATION (QB sneak and FB dive are very cheap plays. Try not to make it cheap EA)
-BETTER ROSTER UPDATES
- Helmets come off after big hits
- smarter CPU-
- MORE REALISTIC INJURIES (WOW MADDEN 09 SHOWED ME THAT AFTER PLAYERS GET INJURED, THEY DONT GET ANY HELP FROM ANYONE. THEY JUST GET UP BY THEMSELVES)
