Final Madden Roster Update Coming Next Week

by pastapadre
Posted January 23rd, 2009 at 1:52 pm

I’ve been sent some information in regards to the next Madden roster update. The hope is to have it out by the end of next week. This will be the final one for 09 and will include the removal of players from the IR. It will not be limited to the teams that were in the playoffs as it will include updates for the entire league.

Apparently this update may be more significant than any we’ve seen all year, with some sweeping changes to more reflect the performances of this season and address players who may have been neglected. That is good news considering the majority of the community felt that the ratings should be based somewhat more on current performance than the way things had been going which was more of a slant towards past performance.

YES!!! Dallas has the best X's and O's players…Thats why they are in Tampa for the NFC this year..O wait my bad they didnt even make the playoffs what was i thinking. Dear Mr. Easports who ever sold you the idea of the Cowboys being this good is just a crazy as you are. I mean T.O. is a cancer who has lost a step and barely got 1000 yards in your so called great O haha your lame do some stat work before you post.

The Eagles may have made the playoffs but they always choke in the playoffs thats why they have not won a super bowl with Mcnabb when that was the main reason he was brought in. Also Jackson may be more explosive than Royal. But Royal is ten times better route runner, better hands, and He was getting doubled too, Royal did start all 16 games smart one, so that means he was rarely in the slot and got lots of attention. Also Royal missed one game so he got 980 in 15 games, otherwise he would have had easily gotten 1,000. Royal is the best rookie WR

so the hell was jackson you idiot. Everytime the Eagles passed the ball they did out of the shotgun formation with 3 bunch or a 4 receiver set so you cant double recievers, also about the Doulbe comment on Marshall yeah they doubled him but he also got over 1200 yards and 7 scores while Eddie got 5 scores and was the best route running possesion reciever on the team. Just give it up man Royal had a better year, had better stats, more touchdowns and he did it without a running game to compliment the pass game

Hater, Big EZ, I think not. Sure LT was 10th in the NFL in total yards but lets factor in the truth shall we. He was 6th in the NFL in attempts at 292 and a meager 3.8 yds per carry avg. Anyone who knows anything about football knows that 3.8 yds per carry in the NFL aint gonna get it done. Lt's 3.8 avg in yards per carry puts in a tie for 84th place with likes of 2 other over rated players in Reggie Bush and Willie Parker.

So in conclusion to all you LT Jock Sniffers. Learn something before you post. there are 83, COUNT THEM 83 other backs that were better than LT this season and so I stand by my previous post. He's no better than an 80 overall for this season and that is being extremely generous.

All stat numbers were furnished from http://www.nfl.com. MIGHT I SUGGEST YOU GET A CLUE AND GO THERE AND DO SOME RESEARCH.

May I suggest something to you? He was coming off an off-season filled with rehab, not training for the upcoming season because of his MCL injury. Then at the beginning of the year he suffered a toe injury. Then in Week 17 he suffered a separated groin muscle. All of this done behind an offensive line that played shoddy at best this past season. All that considered to have 1,110 yards and 11 TD's on a career-low total of carries. He's still one of the best when at 100%. If you think otherwise, get yourself checked son!

Might I suggest you get a clue and actually watch football and know what's going on instead of just being a stats whore?

laron landry is one of the top 5 safties in the league and deserves to be a least a 95. i can barely count the number of times he's crossed the entire field to break up a pass. also his speed should be at least 96 cuz he ran a 4.31 40 at the combine…. but andre carter does need to go down to like a 75 overall.

If LT drops then Tom Brady should drop so much further. To punish LT for being hurt all season and not punish Brady would be stupid. By everyones logic Brady should drop to a 60 overall. The only difference is that LT wasn't hurt enough to not play. The only stat that should drop on LT is his injury rating. They should add some factor that allows players to get hurt in game and keep playing, but be slower and less able to cut and stuff.

I find it kind of funny that they gave A. Peterson a downgrade after he lead the league in rushing. The reasoning behind it was because they thought that A. Peterson would have 1800 yards rushing and since he didn't he didn't deserve the high rating he originally had.

The Eagles linebackers all need to go up. Bradley should at least be an 88 and a brick wall weapon. Gocong 84 and Jordan 82 (all need a speed boost since they were 3rd in defense in the NFL). The DT's were some of the best in the league. Bunkley had an outstanding year and should have a bull rush tag. Chris Clemons finally found his nitche and became a good pass rusher. He should be an 81 overall. DeSean Jackson should be better than Kevin Curtis (who is an 87 currently). He will be the next "Steve Smith" of the Panthers and will only get better. So an 88 rating would be justified since he was the #1 WR on the Eagles. Brent Celek should get a boost since when he got time to play, he had a knack for getting open and didn't drop balls. Jason Avant should have the best hands of the group and should be a possession receiver since he was a pivotal 3rd down threat. Brian Dawkins looked rejuvenated and should get a mild increase and well since he was a force at the end of the season. McNabb's accuracy should at least be 88 since he he played great after the "benching" (even though he was a little erratic and probably cost the Eagles the NFC Championship game due to leaving "plays" on the field. Westbrook was dinged up and didn't play at his usual high level near the end. Part of this was due to Shawn Andrews being out of the main lineup for most of the year and Westbrook running behind him. The Eagles OL only gave up 23 sacks ALL YEAR. Their pass blocking should be stellar. Correll Buckhalter still averaged 5 yards per carry for the past 2 seasons. This guy when given the opportunity, can run between the tackles and very productive. Quintin Mikell was the only Eagle on the Associated Press NFL 2nd team (staring opposite Adrian Wilson of the Cardinals). He was all around the ball this year and will probably make the Pro Bowl in 2009. He deserves at least a 91 overall. Sheldon Brown gave up ONE touchdown ALL YEAR. He should also get a boost. Quinten Demps was a good KR and made it on the field quite a bit at the end of the year. He should also get a ratings boost. Most of the boots should be on DEFENSE since the Eagles ranked #3 just behind the Ravens and Steelers.

I think they should up DeAngelo Williams' ratings. I mean, he had the most touchdowns for a running back, the highest average, and was the years top fantasy running back as well. He had zero fumbles this year, and only has had two in his entire career, and only lost one of those. If anything, he deserves a higher Carrying rating, a higher break tackle rating, and a higher speed rating. He broke out this year.

Don't for get about the Bucs WR Antonio Bryant he had a monster second half and LT Donald Penn only gave up two sacks all year. Penn faced J Peppers and D Abraham twice. In addition, Penn was the player that stopped D Ware's consecutive sack streak. Both players should be in the nindies. Last but not least the Bucs punt/kick returner Smith made the Pro Bowl dispite only being active for the last half of the season. The rating system is fine, it just needs to be more consistent on more players and teams. I don't its right to reduce a players rating becuase he is injured. No body is crying about Brady's rating. your kidding right? The Eagles passed more than the Broncos did. You are only saying they did not run teh ball because it was a dif person everyweek. The Broncos averaged more rushing yards than the Eagles. And about the catch category i would much rather have a reciever that can catch 91 passes and hang on to the ball, than a reciever who only catches when he is open and drops it when he is hit or in traffic. You lost the argument because Jackson will not have a better year than Royal next year and he did not this year, he beat ya boy in catches, touchdowns, and games started. Talk to me in a year when the seasons over so i can say i told you so BUD!

i think that sucks even more when its just a DE and they whiff, even worse is if it annoys the crap out of you so much so you lead block with one of em, and the other side collapses now thats a b*tch!

Hey pasta I dunno if you actually read these when theyve been up this long, if there was an active 2010 thread (not related to the cover) i would have posted there, but for now I have a question. Do you have any idea if EA is planning to change/upgrade the oline protections and or blocking AI in 2010? Its seems to be a very large flaw that has annoyed maddenation to carrottop level proportions, thanks!

I've checked this posting since Pasta put it up and no one ever really addressed my question so I'll ask it again. Does anyone know if they will be addressing the coaching changes that happened during the season. For example could they please get rid of Lane Kiffin. He's not even in the NFL any longer. I just feel that if this update will be "significant" as Pasta has pointed out then maybe they could do us the community a little favor and make this simple change.

you guys are still arguing over Desean Jackson and Eddie Royal? I think the only thing Jackson has better than Royal is speed. Other than that Royal's hands, awareness, route running, and everything else is better. I dont see how Deseans catching is higher…?

nah, but fuck, there should be an interesting twist to winning the SB, your conference championship, shit like that……..And it seems when we blitz..it NEVER gets to the A.I's quarterback, for No fucking reason.

humorously enough thats cus the AIs oline can block, they only way ive found to get through is gap control, pick a LB or safety blitz play, take control of a safety or a LB, L1 down on the pad, L1 up on the right stick, then move the LB or Safety right behind the DT, then do X and down on the right stick so he doesnt do an angled blitz and goes straight down and 60-70% of the time he should get through untouched, lather rinse repeat…enjoy

my bad dude i use ps3; L1 is d line audible button X is the individual player audible button (i think they call it playmaker) and the right sticks should be the same the whole goal is to have your dline sucked in tight but spreading after the ball is snapped so the center blocks the NT the guards take the 2 DEs and you blitz through untouched between the center and guard, it wont work right if you dont change the blitzers angle to straight down, i wouldnt recommend doin it to a human more than twice a game or youll get raped worse than that white chick they found on spring break in jamaica

And you neglected to mention Antonio Cromartie fractured his hip in the second half of the season opener against Carolina and played through the injury all season. This is a fact. Unbelievable. But you think he needs a ratings decrease? That's laughable.

Hey EA!!! Show me some love. And while you are at it, show H.B. Blades somne love. He's alot quicker and faster than the 78 speed you gave him !!! And lets not forget how fast the old man in the middle is !!! If A. Peirce is a 85 speed London Fletcher should be 90 speed !!!!But at least an 88 speed . He did run down B. Westbrook last game the Eagles and Skins played and has flashed better speed than you give him credit for . Give us our props EA !! The Redskins are the Number 4 ranked defense this year !!!

Thats what ive been sayin for a while now, love the comparison between pierce and fletch, fletcher is at least 5 points faster, blades never got anything last year and since the ratings guys dont watch skins games they probably wouldnt know hes as fast (probably faster) than marcus washington so dont be shocked if he doesnt get the boost he so rightly deserves, hall is probably the second greatest insult in ratings on the team, EA has hated on him since royal had his way with him in week 2, they act like he didnt have 5 ints this year but like i said hes the second biggest insult on the team next to campbell. JC throw accuracy boost, not overall, not awareness, just accuracy thats all i want, i just want it in range of our backup qbs…good post (again) hall

d hall i agree with u ea sports are busy with the crybabies. I will admit that d hall has played better in a redskins jersey and yea fletcher has had a great year as well as jason campbell I think he has out played eli and romo this year and i also think portis ratings should stay the same. it is a lot of people who went un noticed like Kerry collins, Ike taylor and a lot of the defenseive players for pittsburg.every reciever in philly should go down they have proved as good as donovin is they are the reason that he cant win.i have also noticed that flaco didnt go up or willis mcgahee. When I say this I am talking pure football and real life just like a lot of the dolphins didnt go up that much.

Any word on if the new roster update is going to have Miami's Cameron Wake? He was an absolute monster in the CFL posting 39 sacks in 2 years. Now i know that there is depleted talent in the CFL but 39 sacks in 2 years!? Also he was named Defensive Player of The Year in both of his only 2 seasons in the league! This guy is a beast. I'm not saying that he should be 99 overall or anything like that. But i, along with thousands of other madden fans will be sadly dissapointed if he gets anything below an 83.

nice unbiased opinion, i mostly agree with you (def on philly recievers and the skins) but kerry collins didnt go unnoticed he was the veteran equivilent of flacco and id give both an 82 overall, the steelers D is great and should be rated accordingly not 99s (except for troy who i say is a 98) but i hate the steelers so i cant objectively give them ratings…except for troy who is 1 point less than the best safety in the league Mr. Ed Reed (he beats me if i dont call him mr)
