Madden 09 Final Roster Update Is Out

As posted last week roster update #18 for Madden 09 is the final one of the year. That means injured players come off the IR. But EA has also put a lot of effort into providing an extensive update that better represents the performances of the players this season. Hopefully this is a sign of how the updates will be produced next year as the vast majority of the community (88% according to the poll) wanted to see more of a slant towards current performance than was being offered.
Unfortunately there is no detailed list of the changes that were made this time around. Feel free to post anything you notice in the comments along with your thoughts on how good of an update it turned out to be. A few of the names checked on so far are Joe Flacco going up to an 84, Chad Johnson dropping to 92, Kurt Warner raised to 95, LaDainian Tomlinson down to a 95, and Michael Turner up to 95. Its also nice to see John Carlson get some credit after having such a great year and never receiving a boost as he goes from 79 to now being an 89.

the best madden made was madden 94, where are those programmers!!!!
maybe in 2010 they will haver a true dept or hire a company to make player rating changes, that would improve 2010 by leaps and bounds. so at least i could use acctual representation of the players.

It'd be very interesting to hear as to why they decreased alot of these stats.
I mean, Donald Driver went to an 88. He's still the CiT master if you ask me, going over the middle for nearly all of his catches. He also had a 1000 yard season, alot of it coming in the second half of the season. If anything, he should've gone up by the end of the year, rather than down.
Or the speed on Harris and Woodson. I know they aren't DeAngelo Hall, but just look at Woodson against the Colts. He's easily a 93 speed an Harris could be upped by two aswell to 93. If not for real-life reason, at leas for gaming reasons. They get beaten deep every time if someone gets enough time in the pocket. It's getting slightly annoying.

I liked the update but how did Joseph Addai go from a 91-92 Carry all the way down to a 81 Carry….He only had 1 fumble this year and yes he was injuried. But still 1 fumble with like 150 carries seams a bit low he should still be a 91-92 carry seriously…..

ok. im pretty sure ive seen this qquestion asked about 4 or 5 times , and there hasnt been a response. Can someone please list the top 10 players at all the defensive postions? the guy who began to post the offensive top 10's stopped posting at DE's when he got to defense.

Did i really get my money worth out of this game, these ratings arent for the nfl playersa i know, maybe madden is really a CFL sim with NFL team names. the kids will put up with this and continue to buy madden, but older dudes gonna wait a couple of years to purchase this game. EA is soooo disappointing. I hope the players talk to the NFLPA dont whore themselve to such undeserving pimps next contract. So sad, this update destroyed the game.. At least 2K is still in the NBA

You Forte haters are just dumb…His ratings are that high because besides running(which is really the only thing that C Johnson and Slaton can do), he never drops any passes thrown to him, already a great pass blocker, obviously has great stamina, and can break tackles…which is why if you think about it in a "Madden" way, his ratings will naturally go up a whole lot…I mean, what attributes(besides more speed) can you higher with C Johnson and Slaton(which are basically the same backs)…their speeds are already 97/98 from the start…maybe awareness….but that's not good enough to make them 92…and you can't make their BTK and strength that much higher because, well that's not a quality they have…In order to higher a player's ratings, you have to higher their attributes…but it wouldn't make sense to higher a "speed" back's strength, broken tackles, and blocking, when they're not good at any of those attributes…..now stop complaining you ignorant haters.

glad to see EA listened to me about comparable roster ratings…I am a skins fan so this may seem a little bias but fuck it eas ratings of the skins reflect a 6-10 team NOT 8-8. I have been writing about Jason Campbells throw accuracy rating needing to go up, as both of the skins backups had much higher accuracy ratings (brennan [rookie] 88, tood collins 92 at the games release date last august) since then campbell set a franchise mark for consecutive passes without an incompletion, which ranks 5th ALL TIME (not in the league but all time, of anyone to play the game of football for 70 years) not only that he also set a franchise record td : int ratio (for those of you doing your homework that means higher than mark rypen, sonny jergunson, and brad johnson in their PRIMES) so i finally downloaded the roster update last night glad to see shuan hill ratings went up remarkably for the niners, shaub went down, and garrard went way down. So with much anticipation im expecting to see the 89 to 90 range on campbell if hill is an 88 and a commenserate rating for the number 4 defense in the league. EA you never fail when it comes to disapointment. Instead of raising campbells accuracy to a starting caliber nfl quarterback, much less one in the nfc east (that beat the 2 best teams in the NFC – ari once eagles twice) they lowered collins so the crime doesnt seem as bad. Heres the funny thing todd collins hasnt takin a snap all year! I didnt know riding the pine would cost him to go from a 92 to an 82 accuracy. Campbell breaks franchise records, cements a place in the nfl history books and apparently our rookie, brennan, who played all of 8 quarters in preseason, throws more accurately with an 88. PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME HOW THAT MAKES ANY SENSE ON ANY OF THOSE! If that wasnt bad enough I continued to scroll the positions discovering Mike Sellars is now a 92 overall, but they didnt put any logic into the rating as his agility is less than our dlineman, i dont know about you but ive never seen demetric evans hurdle anyone! Lets move on to WR, santanna has always been a handjob @ 88 but that wasnt the biggest disaster, Devin Thomas is a 71 Malcolm Kelly 75. Note to EA Malcolm Kelly played 2 games this year and didnt score a TD, thomas did and didnt drop 5 balls either, plus they are both better than james thrash who is currently the 3rd best wideout behind antwaan butterfingers randel el (most drops on the season of all wideouts). Though i did find chris samuels being rated so high hysterical to the point i almost pissed myself, Again note to EA he may have made the probowl but he had more false starts, holding penalties, and sacks allowed than the rest of the oline COMBINED! Now i can finally move on to the defense, thank you for not shitting all over Jason Taylor, you should have but thanks for not doing it cus that leaves this space open to rip you for hall. Act like he had 5 ints this year. Act like hes been to 2 probowls, and please up his awareness so its higher than smoot GOOD GOD hes going to be our starter and in our 4th ranked D scheme he will go back next year. Im glad the ratings are done for the year so because im terrified theyll take my advice but instead of raising hall theyll lower smoot, instead of rasing campbell theyll lower brennan and instead of raising hb blades theyll lower fletcher, who ran down westbrook from behind so either westbrooks an 80 something speed or fletcher needs to go up next year Id love to hear any response to this because these are piss poor ratings, ive been a madden player since 93 but if they cant get the ratings to make logical sense im switching to 2k when they come back….

Im a Skins fan myself , and to be honest our whole system sucks . I dont think it matters whos on our team or ranked what , Dan Snyder needs to either become Jesus or get out of washington . Until then will be paper champs for years to come. Hell were paper champs every year! The Cowboys are now becoming the paper champs of the league which is A OK with me .These people arent wirth a quarter % of what theyve made off the Redskins , S Moss , Randle El , Smoot both tenures , Griffin , R Thomas , M Washington , J Taylor , and Springs . Every player listed is nothing close to dominant . Not even in spirts. I hope we have replacements for every single one of these guys. They do absolutely nothing to win ball games , how could it hurt to go younger with men more hungry . Springs cant stay healthy , but when he is , he is one of the best . Let them ALL GO !!!!!!!

Lynch and Barber could switch teams and no one would know the difference . Both should be close to equal in all attributes but power & trucking . Barber is hands down more powerful . But not by far.
Barber 90 < behind a line built to run , makes more plays .
Lynch 88 < behind Barbers line i think he would mirror what Barber does.

49ers got shafted….. i was excited when i read updates for all teams not just playoff teams…. im not saying all of there players should go up,,, just Shaun Hill… cant argue with that…. and jason hill our WR hes a 76… and way better than that like 80 common. and one other would be our O line… kinda underrated, only reason gave up hella sacks is because of JT o Sullivan cant make a decision to throw the ball. Shaun Hill needs to go up…. Wr Jason Hill, they had a connection,…. just let me get shaun hill at least in madden 2010. patrick willis did go to a 98 tho… A men, best in the league. no question

Redskins need to release S.Moss , Randle El , M Washington , Springs , R. Thomas , and Griffin . Moss had one big game 4 years , hes been in a downwards spiral ever since . Randle Els making 30 million WTF !! M.Washington has been then sole purpose for Jason Witten making the Pro Bowl the last few years , Witten OWNS him. R. Thomas, i dont hear much about him , but i rarely see big runs going up behind him, its usually off tackle left when Portis does damage. Springs cant stay healthy , he's definiteyl above average when he is healthy though, 17 games in 3 years , equals time to part ways ! Same with Griffin , but even when healthy he is not dominant , never will be as it looks thus far . Neither of these players are dominant , and there in the top 8 or so salaries on our roster. WHY ARE THEY GETTING PAID SO MUCH MONEY TO BE A REDSKIN?? We need better player evaluation without a doubt !!
