I'M SO HAPPY EVERYONES LITTLE PREDICTION OF THE CUBS WINNING THE WORLD SERIES IS NOT COMING TO PASS....AGAIN!!!!!!!!! IN THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR, I WAS TIRED OF HEARING HOW THEY WILL GO TO THE WORLD SERIES, OR GO TO THE WORLD SERIES AND WIN IT...HOW IN THE WORLD DO YOU PICK A TEAM WHO HASN'T WON IN OVER 100 YEARS AND THE LAST 3 PLAYOFF BIRTHS THEY'VE HAD, THEY WERE 0-9 IN EACH SERIES????????? COULDN'T EVEN WIN A GAME. AND ITS OBVIOUS THIS YEAR, THE TEAM FROM LAST YEAR WAS JUST ONE YEAR WONDERS CAUSE THIS YEAR THEY ABSOLUTELY STINK. ITS THE MIDDLE OF AUGUST AND THEY STILL CANT GET INTO FIRST PLACE IN THE CENTRAL WHERE MY PHILLIES ARE 18-6 IN THAT WEAK DIVISION.
  • Danny
Twins should have way better ratings!
  • jake
the tigers should have a better pitcher rating
  • peter
how the hell is dodgers 21 in batting. i have the fuc*ing game and the rankings do not matter only in franchise they do
  • D-hils
and all these people who are talking about,, my team shouldnt be rankied 23rd we hav three awsome players, look at how many great players on on the top 10 teams
red sox- pedroia, youk, bay, v-tek(fielding), lowell, beckett, paps, saito, smoltz
yanks- teixera, jeter, a-rod, sabathia, posada, rivera,
cubs-soriano(best ratings in game),lilly, dempster, lee, zambrano, ramirez

then u hav the orioles- roberts, mora.................idk, ur missing something ther o's fans
  • D-hils
alright, i AM a red sox fan and mite be biased but c'mon, people hav to stop hating on them
    1. every time i watch a red sox game up until the last week or two ive seen, .985-.990 feilding percentage, number 1 or 2 in the A.L
2.pitching rotation does completely suck this year but this is based on the last three years(2006-2008) and we all no how awsome beckett was and the hype over dice-k, plus wakes domination last year, two no-hitters by really young guys and a bunch of top porspects---u kinda had to expect it
    3.Rays suck...no question
  • Cyrus
    padres really suck this year
  • des the BAL Os fan
man im an Os fan and they do not suck that bad it is rediculous the rankings they got. we got markakis roberts and mora and there just savin up there money. one year theyll just spend it on all the best players youll see
  • MicDizzle
The Orioles Batting should be in Top 15.
  • JRFraziaa8
still don't believe that the rays are legit?? LMAO
they are far better than the yankees, even with those additions- who are going to choke under the pressure
i can almost GUARANTEE a rematch of the 2008 ALCS in 09, it all comes down to depth, which the rays have, and the yankees do not, and defense- which the rays have, and the yankees do not
the bronx bombers are TOO OLD
rays will win the world series this year, sucks that this game puts them as third in the AL East
by the way, i live in massachusetts, so i'm probably the only person living around here that sees things logically
    GO RAYS
  • BOS
sure i am a boston fan and i wil always think they deservie the #1 spot but giving them the #1 seed in defense thats a little out of line
  • PhilliesWSChamps 08
Ethan H. How do u not have the Phillies in the top 5 offenses
    1.J-Roll
    2.Flyin Hawaiian
    3.Chase (2009 MVP)
    4.Howard
    5.Ibanez
    6.Werth
    7.Feliz
    8.Ruiz
    9.P

Top 4 spots have MVPs or MVP potentials.
  • Phillies Phorever
Phillies are number 11 at pitching thats number 1 twice.
  • Tenney
    Health Rankings...

    30. Boston Red Sox
  • Meeks
Ethan H. you clearly either don't watch the Red Sox, or are a desperate Yankee fan if you think the Red Sox are that bad.
  • KTS
Oh yeah, dont forget about the Rays rotation, who with the addition of David Price might just be better than both of those teams...
  • KTS
Chamberlain - Smoltz - This is the matchup that will be huge when Smoltz comes back. If Wakefield is in this spot as opposed to Smoltz, the Yankees win hands down, but it is much closer with Smoltz. Joba has durability question marks, but both will but up monster numbers if healthy. Small advantage to Yankees.
Pettitte - Penny - This tiebreaker goes to the Red Sox, because Pettittes 4.5 ERA only go up as he ages, but Penny is a little younger and has more left in him for a rebound year.
  • KTS
About the top pitching staffs, I do agree the Yanks look best on paper to start the season. However once the Red Sox get Smoltz back they could have the better staff:
CC - Beckett - Clearly CC is better as of right now, but he threw a lot of innings last year and the time he spent in the AL he was pathetic. However Beckett was not much better last year, so CC has the clear advantage.
Wang - Lester - Another close one, with a slight edge to Lester, because while Wang has a nack for winning games, he is not as dominant as Lester is.
Burnett - Matsuzaka - A certain win for the Red Sox here. Dice-K had incredible stats last year and should be durable, meanwhile Burnett is a threat to land on the DL at all times. Also, Burnett was healthy for a full year last year and had over a 4 ERA, Dice-Ks was under 3.
  • KTS
Baltimore also has a better ML pitching staff consisting of Till, Matusz, and Arrieta to name a few, all who made the BA top 100 prospect list.
As do the Rangers who had 3 pitchers make that list, the Braves and Tigers had 2 a piece and two of the best prospects in Tommy Hanson and Rick Porcello.
The Mets, Angels, Giants, Rays, White Sox, Red Sox, and Mariners also had more than one pitcher make the BA top 100.
However, the NY Yankees had a lonely 1 pitcher make the top 100 prospect list.
Aside from the lack of front line talent, the rotation isn't even deep in the Yanks Farm. So, they will just have to keep buying their players as usual.
  • True Yankee Fan 75
I have to disagree, yankees have best pitching staff in baseball. S.P. C.C. ,A.J., Wang, Joba, Pettette, and Hughes/ Kennedy B.P. Rivera, Marte, Veras, Bruney and Ramirez, That does not include the best pitching staff in minors such as Coke,Albaladejo, Sanchez, Robertson and others. Red Sox's rotation doesn't come close. Complete Domination
  • KTS
I am going to ignore the mistakes in the first half of Yankee Fans comment, and focus on this part "That does not include the best pitching staff in minors such as Coke,Albaladejo, Sanchez, Robertson and others."
This is a complete joke. The Yankees do not even come close to the best pitching staff in the minors, and this commenter or "fan" forgot to mention one of the Yanks better pitching prospects, Andrew Brackman. And he isn't even all that good.
The Oakland A's have the best minor league pitching, with Brett Anderson, Trevor Cahill, Michael Inoa, and Gio Gonzalez all making Baseball America's top 100 prospect list, and that doesn't even mention Vince Mazzaro and James Simmons, who are also very good prospects.
  • HERBY LUV BUG
NEWS FLASH MARLINS FANS!!!!! YOU HAVE TO FIELD THE BALL ALSO TO BE RANKED 3RD BEST PLAYER!!!! WE ALL KNOW HANLEY RAMIREZ PLAYS NO DEFENSE AT ALL!!!!!
  • Ethan H.
please send me emails... at Yankeefan3k0@yahoo.com
in 3k0 of my email the 0 is the number zero (#0)
o ya.. im not an actual yankee fan.. but i make an email for my predictions each year..
for example my email last year was redsox4life727@yahoo.com...
please send them... i would like to hear your thoughts.. teach me something new i didnt know.. please be respectful.. but strongly voice your oppinions...
  • Ethan H.
i know i am going to hear alot of critisism about this .. but.. thats what makes this country so beautiful... please speek your thoughts.. i want to hear them..

P.S i voice my thoughts so strongly towards francisco rodriguez because i live in the orange county area and i go to many angels games.. everytime "K-rod" (horrible nickname) comes in .. all you hear in that stadium is..."NO.. Not him.. He is going to give me a heart attack.. he is going to blow it...AGAIN"
and his numbers clearly show his unreliableness..
  • Ethan H.
    My predictions for this season...
    AL east
    1.Yanks
    2.Rays(Wild Card)
3.Sox (No Playoffs for the baked beans)
    Al Central
    1-Tigers
    2.Twins
    Al West
    1. Athletics
    2.Angels (No Playoffs)
    MVP- Pat Burrell
    Cy Young- CC Sabathia
    Nl East
    1.Mets
    2.Phillies(Wild Card)
    Nl Central
    1. Cubbies
    2. Brew Crew
Nl West (slums of the mlb)
    1. Arizona
    2. Dodgers
    3. Giants
    MVP-Chase Utley
    Cy Young- Tim Lincecum
    Winner of the ALCS-Yankees
    Winner of the NLCS-Cubbies
World Series goes to the Yankees in 6 games...
i chose the yankees not for their incredible players.. but i believe this alex rodriguez and steroids thing will help the whole team come together as one.. i believe arod's ego will do complete 180.. he is going to be a team player .. not a selfish player.. also this is taking alot of pressure of cc aj and tex... they are not in the center of attention anymore.. the can ease into their roles and they will perform...
It was a lesson arod needed and it happened at the perfect time..
  • Anitra
how in the world does anybody pick the cubs for any playoff hopes when they haven't won in more than 100 years. Odds for your prediction arent in your favor. expecially this season when they still look terrible in the middle of august.
  • Ethan H.
    Offense..
    1-Yankees
    2-cubs
    3-Rangers
    4-Indians
    5-Red sox
    and so on..
    STARTING PITCHING..
1-ITS A TIE.. YANKS AND SOX
    2-CUBS
.. and the rest you figger out
    Relief..
    no doubt .. 1-Red sox
2-Rest of league because i honestly believe everyone else is mediocre
    Closing Pitcher
1-Yankees.. no one beats Mariano Rivera.. he is the pinnacle of closers
2-hahahahahah (Not The Mets) Francisco Rodriguez is the biggest joke in baseball.... ya he has the record for most saves in a season.. but... hmmm his Save% was BELOW the leagues average... he puts the first three men on base.. then gets 3 fly balls to the warning track... he gets put into the game when his team is up by three... ends up winning by one... congrats on the angels getting rid of that over-rated bum..
    Infield Defense
    1. Yanks
    2. Red Sox
    3. Cubs
    Outfield Defense..
    1-Angels
    2-Giants
  • Ethan H.
Im a guy who has no favorite team but just loves the sport... i want to to give MY THOUGHTS about the rankings...
    Overall..
    1-Yankees
    2-Cubs
    3-Red Sox
    4-Rays
    5-Mets
    6-Phillies
    7-Tigers
    8-Reds
    9-Twins
    10-Angels
    11-Braves
and for the rest.. no offense.. but i dont want to waste my time..
  • nick
    as are any...
  • Nick
lmao 25 for the Marlins, their rotation alone puts them in the top 17, their hitting puts them up atleast 3 more spots and that bullpen puts them up 1 more...12...but the Reds are not better,, As, any NL west team, any AL west team (angels not included), Al central (tigers not included)
  • nick
easily the worst rankings I have ever seen
  • idk
how is the mets ranked 16th in batting....reyes, wright, beltran, delgado.......come on
  • Adam
aww... look at my last place pirates. lol
  • MiamiMarlins
These ratings are based on popularity...There is no way the MARLINS should be ranked behind the mariners, lol...and ranked 19th in offense when they had the second best offense in the NL...ridiculous
  • Sean
The Giants are 11th in pitching? Seems way too low.
  • BDawg35
Off topic, but that screenshot of the Tigers piqued my interest. If you're playing spring training games (franchise or RTTS mode?), can you change the jerseys? I used the Tigers in RTTS mode last year. The Tigers wear their regular jerseys in spring training, yet I was forced to use what appears to be a batting practice jersey.

Soo the D'backs apparently have a better line-up than pitching staff now. Haha! Not at all.
  • Dre
Looks like the DBacks will need massive tweaking if this follows through to the Opening Day roster release. 19th in pitching is a joke and 29th in defense is nearly as laughable. Bump pitching up to the top 10 and defense somewhere in the middle of the pack and I can live with it. Offense in the middle is safe unless any number of the young guys has a breakout season.

I'm counting down the days, hours, minutes until MARCH 3RD
