MLB 2K9 Conference Call on Friday

As is the case with many of their titles 2K Sports is holding a media-invited conference call prior to release. For MLB 2K9 that is taking place on Friday at 5ET/2PT. During the call myself and Chase Becotte of Operation Sports will be teaming up for a live blog. Expect reflection on what we are hearing or not hearing, our general thoughts, and probably some insults between each other throughout. After it is over I will still do a full write-up as usual for anyone who would just like to read an overview of the call.

The media sites invited are asked to send in a couple questions for the producers to respond to. Of the ones I sent in I am most looking forward to finding out what they have done to improve online play performance.

With the call beginning at 5ET/2PT on Friday they generally they run for about 45 minutes. The live blog will be located both here and at OS with the recap article following later in the evening.

can you please ask whether or not they plan on fixing the issues you found in their beta (you throw a ball and the fielder throwing it is looking another way, or stuttering issues, etc).

can you ask him about online where players would play wit the red sox for example and use 3 different starting pitchers like Josh Beckkett TIm Wakefield and DIce K ask them did they make it online so once u pick a starting pitcher you can only use the relievers for the rest of the game

Please ask one thing for me. Is there Online franchise play where 2-6 users can control teams while 28-24 teams are controlled by the computer? (akin to an NCAA 09 league) I don't want to play with the public and I only have 2-6 guys who want to play but we also want to play against computer control teams during our franchise.

Pasta please ask about the demo. May I suggest that you specifically ask if the demo has been submitted to Sony and Microsoft, if so when, if not when. I know this question gets asked frequently and the answer from 2K is that it is up to Sony/Microsoft to certifiy the demo. My sense is that this is a dodge since it leads one to believe that the demo has been actually submitted and the reason for the hold up is Sony/Microsoft. When the truth may actually be that no demo has been released for certification. This is the "leading" response that we got last year, when it is fair to say that the frame rate problem was probably behind the demo release after the game dropped in stores.

Seeing eye ground balls, realistic pitch counts, CPU taking strikes, 1/3rd baseman putting up a wall that no ball no matter how hard hit can get by….those are the things I am hoping have been addressed.

I'm sure it will come up but I don't expect them to give any specific info. It'll probably be something general like "we expect a demo to be out before release". Last year they made the mistake of promising it and then they held it back until after release which made them look bad and rightfully so.

HAHAHA!!! I love it! some things you will notice from all the 2K haters across the internet:

1) all they can talk about is the previous installments
2) they keep talking about problems that have already been addressed/fixed…the framerate problem is NOT a problem at all…the guy over at ESPN already confirmed he got a "new build" of the game and the framerate issues are all but gone.

I love it…MLB THE SHOW just released a new trailer and the shit just looks pathetic. call me a fanboy/troll blah blah…but you know its the truth…the animations look weird, the player models don't even look like real human beings….
