As mentioned on Wednesday the MLB 2K9 media conference call takes place today at 5ET/2PT. While I’ll have a full recap article up on it late tonight myself and Chase wanted to live blog it. We’ll be commenting throughout and hopefully it’ll be interesting for everyone to follow along with. Generally these sessions run for about 45 minutes. If you miss out on following along live the transcript stays so you can still check it out after it is over.

Continue on to view the live blog. Feel free to leave your thoughts within the blog application or comment on the article.

Is a PC demo coming next week too ?

So we learned nothing new, other than they said the same shit as last year. "New this and new that" and yet nothing describing if they fixed anything that was seen in the videos as far as gameplay problems.

I'm holding my judgments this year based on rentals. I've played the Show demo, liked it a lot, however it isn't a whole lot different than last years. I'm anxiously waiting for 2K9's demo on Thursday. If it plays as good as the video's look, than I will base my decision on the rentals. I'm looking to see how realistic the franchise modes will be and how the on-line play will be. That is what will determine my decision.

I'm hoping 2K9 delivers a good product this year. I love baseball games, but 2k8 was just sad. The Show does look a lot better, but I'm not about to buy a PS3 for that. The demo will tell us everything we need to know about this game.
  • AGREED!!!

Thanks Tim, read the response above.

My bad, I'm dyslexic, but you do agree that dude at short doesn't look anything like him.

Well, I wish they would work on just ONE thing- get rid of the 1930's version of an organ, mate! It's terrible. Sounds like creepy hour on the radio programs. They could use a fix in that audio department, get us some real organ music.

To PS3 Owners: Just remember how 2k screwed PS3 owners in 2k7. Sure the 360 will get the improved product since they are the base platform for this game while the PS3 will be the port over. Do you really think the PS3 version of this game will be exactly the same as the 360version. I highly doubt it. Make the smart choice and stick with a PROVEN entity in the show.

jimmy rollins plays shortstop for the phillies buddy. btw u are right about the "androids" in 2k9. Not fluid at all. they run like ducks
  • Tim
trojan92 ,Jimmy Rollins doesn't look like himself because he plays SS not 2nd base for the Phillies. If you play it again and look at the Shortstop than you will see it is Jimmy Rollins. Chase Utley is the 2b for Philly

Thanks for the answer Pasta. You made it easy for me to look up info for this game and you have done a great job. The way you do your site and post info about the game has convinced me to buy Mlb 2k9 even after 2k8. Thanks for answering the question and great job.

I personally reserved my copy for The Show this afternoon, however, I do like the improvements that I seen so far with 2K9, especially the the "Real Time" feature, where the actual player models are in and out of the dugout. I also like that 2K has the pitchers in the bullpens.

With that being said, I just can't get with the actual player models. When I'm playing The Show, I see the players as actually animated versions of their real life counterparts (except for Jimmy Rolllins, that dude they have playing 2nd for Philly in the demo looks NOTHING like JRoll).

With 2K9 all of the players look like androids, seriously, they movement isn't fluid to me, very mechanical. On top of that I was watching an end of game clip from OS, and the players on the winning team were reacting like they lost. I understand this is a beta version, but you need to at least attempt to have accurate representation.
  • They have 2K Share so you should be able to grab others' rosters and use them for your franchise yes.

Hey pasta, great job it looks like I got my answer about the demo. Another Question. If some1 has all the prospects from AAA AA and A will I be able to download that roster like NCAA 2009 and use the roster as my own in franchise play now and etc. Thankyou Pasta for this great conference call set up and etc

Live blog was good......Wish there would have been a little more info in terms of online lag and framerate issues... Regardless, the demo news about possibly showing up next week is great and I am looking forward to this game for the first time in years.

I hope the demo is playable,it sounds bad
  • Yep, good news on that front.

Blah blah blah the Show, blah blah best baseball game blah blah. I've said it before, yes MLB The Show is a great game and yes it's better than what 2K will put out. But can we all please get past that and let us 360 owners enjoy the coverage Pasta is giving to MLB 2K9? Thank you.
  • The Show needs to feel like its on tv but they haven't done so and its bad IMO
