NCAA Football 10: Every Game Counts

Earlier this evening I speculated that the “Every Game Counts” motto for NCAA Football 10 would tie into a big new feature or mode. What that is has actually just been revealed in the press release announcement for the game.

True to the tradition of the award-winning franchise, NCAA Football 10 continues to push the bar on innovation with new online modes. NCAA Football 10 brings the excitement of college football to fans across the nation like never before with its newest feature, Season Showdown. In this new mode, every game counts as fans declare their loyalty to a favorite school and give the ultimate show of support in a nationwide competition. All college football fans will have an opportunity to participate in Season Showdown, as credits not only accumulate in-game but players can also earn credits for their school via new web-based games. Millions of college football fans around the country will be on a mission to prove their school is number one with NCAA Football 10’s Season Showdown.

I suppose this will be an interesting thing to follow and passionate fans of particular schools will likely work hard to represent them. However this doesn’t seem that exciting to me. Multiple games have had variations of competitions to represent teams online. It will have to be explained in more detail what makes this more engaging than just trying to help your favorite school earn meaningless bragging rights.

Isn't this kinda similar to something FIFA did? I don't remember what it was called, but if I'm an Arsenal fan, and Arsenal's playing Man U, I'd connect to a game against a ManU fan and that game would be tracked in a sort of virtual season decided by the combined records of all users in these games.

I guess this is alright but maybe worries some that they're talking about it like its a big deal. Calling this an innovative online mode is an insult to online dynasty and online team play.

Are they going to use it for something productive and see which teams are getting used ad nauseam online and use that information to figure out what's broken that makes that team ridiculously overselected?

The sleeve is probably just the half sleeve that goes up to the elbow from the wrist. Can't really tell from the pic…

    Not a good news story…Boo!

Normally I'm all about the info. but this is weak…

Euro 2008 had a similar thing to this, where you played as a country and accumulated points for it. Something like that. I agree that it's "meaningless bragging rights" unless there's something we don't know yet. I went to Seton Hall, they don't even play college football, so I have no team to brag for.

  • BRING BACK FCS!!!

This is the big new feature this year? If so, then it just continues to affirm my belief that the NCAA team doesn't understand what we really want at all. So far it's just shaping up to be yet ANOTHER mediocre underwhelming game this year.

I never hate on EA for news…but seriously, this time it was pointless. Give me create-a-school and then I'll get excited. And don't give me a stripped down version like they have on Madden.

why do they do things like this when the actual game needs so much work. EA needs to take a class on priorities. quit wasting time adding pointless stuff.

EA just doesn't get it. Instead of fixing the gameplay they are just adding more pointless features. This is what happens when you have exclusive licenses.
