Rumor: Fitzgerald, Polamalu Madden 10 Cover

by pastapadre

AZCentral.com is reporting a source has revealed that Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald will be on the cover of Madden 10. However it may not be just Fitzgerald as he may be joined by Steelers SS Troy Polamalu. You can read the full posting on the subject here.

I have actually come across some information that could confirm at least part of this rumor but I am checking into it further before posting on it. This duo certainly would be at the top of anyone’s most likely list for the cover this year and would’ve been #1 (Polamalu) and #2 (Fitzgerald) on my own. However having both share the cover would be something completely new and unexpected.

If this certifies, does this mean both teams are out of the playoff in 2009 season and Polamalu and Fitzgerald will be injured for most of the season?

Hopefully not for Cards and Fitzgerald.

    GO CARDS~

Dont forget the Cards also have the Super Bowl loser curse to deal with :)

The funny thing about the so called curse is not really a curse but an unfortunate setup for the SUper Bowl loser. Most free agents on the losing team seek to get paid and leave the team. It's also hard to build depth from the draft as they pick next to last in every round. Combined with the expectations of returning to the Super Bowl and winning creates a huge amount of pressure that teams just can not live up too.

I like the idea of having two players on the cover. Good marketing strategy too imo. The Super Bowl teams usually have the most exposure to the general public and having 2 players will please more fans who like one or the other.

And will also lessen the chances of a Madden curse since 2 players need to be affected.

LOL, The Curse is fun to watch for, but I'm a skeptic. Although I will have to say, if they both get injured or have incredibly bad seasons, no player is going to want to be on the cover ever again.

I also think I would like the 1 player better. It's been a tradition to just have one guy that is the cover athlete for that year, and I've always enjoyed that. Also, remember that FNR4 also has two people, so this not only wouldn't surprise me if it's true, but expect this to be a trend for all EA Sports titles this year.

I'm loking this new idea of two players. But I also think John Madden should have his mug somewhere on the coer as well considering his name is the title of the game.

Wow, ruin two players' careers with the Madden curse. Way to go, EA! Seriously though, I could care less who is on the cover really, as long as they deliver a great game I'm cool with anybody.

this makes sense, remember that the new fight night cover is both Ali and Tyson. I'm thinking EA is doing dual athletes on all the covers this year.

As a Pitt fan I love Fitzgerald and as a Steelers fan I love Polamalu. I guess I can deal with this.

polamalu overrated? as a lifelong steelers fan who has watched just about every game in the last 30 something years,i can tell you troy is not overrated, how many times did you see the guy play? granted he did miss a tackle in the supper bowl,i'll give you that but come on…the guy is a beast back there and the steelers would not of won their last two championships or for that matter even have made it to the supper bowl without number 43,so he is not overated,he is the best safety in the nfl along with ed reed of the ravens.

Big bag of smoke Pasta, my NFL sources tell me it's Adrian Peterson. Each week they release 2 players from every division to create anticipation . But my quality NFL sources tell me it's Adrian Peterson.

This is a complete cop-out if they put them both on it. Last year they tried to break the curse with Favre… didn't work. Now this? Come on EA follow Madden tradition and put one active, talented player on it. BUT PLEASE not AP, I don't want to get cursed.
