MLB 09 The Show Roster Update 4/13

The latest roster update for MLB 09 The Show came out earlier today. This is a significant one in that the players who appeared in their first MLB game can now have their real names included. Gary Sheffield also makes his way to the Mets roster.

For those of you who can’t connect the PS3 online I have uploaded the file to be grabbed here. Unzip it and then transfer the folder to the saves area in the XMB. There are 183 player movements in this update. The highlights as designated by SCEA are below.

RF Ichiro Suzuki moved from Mariners Position to Mariners Minors.
DH Mike Sweeney moved from Mariners Bench to Mariners Position.
SS Omar Vizquel moved from Rangers Position to Rangers Bench.
LF Luke Scott moved from Orioles Bench to Orioles Position.
SP Jeff Niemann moved from Rays Minors to Rays Starting.
2B Josh Barfield moved from Indians Bench to Indians Minors.
RP Lance Cormier moved from Rays Minors to Rays Relief.
LF Delmon Young moved from Twins Position to Twins Bench.
C Joe Mauer moved from Twins Position to Twins Minors.

This is how they compensate for injured players not being active in the online roster…being there are no minor league teams. The player wont be available for use.

it is… if i wanna play a baseball game now i go over to my friends house next door to play The Show instead of playing my 2K9. 2K9 is good enough for me, but The Show is SOOOOO much better its not even a close competition. i can't even look at my 2K9 let alone play it after having played The Show at my friends for awhile.

Now that MLB 2K9 has some of its gameplay issues corrected, I wish they could fix/spend time on the supposed "Living Rosters" aspect of the game.

2K made it seem like they'd be doing updates everyday with the Living Rosters feature. Instead, it took a couple of weeks to get a new update (it came out last Friday), and the new update still has rookies with fake names and incorrect skin colors. And, since users aren't allowed to edit anything, we are stuck with the rosters the way they are until the next update, which could happen tomorrow or two weeks from now (I have discovered that 2K doesn't communicate with its customers very well, so we won't find out when it's due until it actually drops).

It's a good thing Franchise mode in 2K9 is basically broken…otherwise, I'd be going crazy waiting until the rosters were as close to 100% accurate so I could take control of my Cubbies.

Once again, The Show proves superior.

Sorry kc it is broken. Downloaded both patches and traded my copy back to gamestop. How anyone can say 2k9's Franchise isn't broken is beyond me – just check the 2k9 forum as the posters detail the issues there. The Show isn't perfect but it's light years ahead of anything 2k can dream of putting out.

I believe I got about 15 for the game w/ the edge card. Great deal considering GS will set it for $54.

This is where the whole '2K can't communicate' issue rears it ugly head.

People have been posting almost nonstop on their forums, yet 2K hasn't addressed any of the Franchise issues. People posted about freezing problems…they're still there. Disabled list glitches…not fixed. Players changing appearances after being sent down to the minors, and then being recalled to the majors…not a peep from 2K. "Top Fielder in 216" and other stat problems…you guessed it!

Must be nice to have a PS3 and The Show…

Sony posted on their website on 4/7 that they are working on a patch but had no date for release. They are aware of the RTTS crash in Sept. and other issues, and would be addressing those issues in the patch.

ive downloaded the update extracted the files copied to my thumbdrive n when i plug it n to my ps3 it says theres no files to copy under my saved data utility.the only thing i can copy is a video titled icon1??ive downloaded roster updates for every other sports game i own with no trouble whats my problem with this?????anyone…thanks

you need a folder in your thumbdrive named PS3, inside that folder you need one named SAVEDATA, place the extracted roster folder inside that folder and it should be fine. if you can't extract the download, you will need to download a rar extractor, they are like zip files, i used izarc.

I had the same problem with mine. I had no problem with the ncaa rosters. i extracted the files with winrar and put them in a folder called savedata in a folder called ps3. my ps3 didnt recognize it either!! WHY??

downlaod the entire file. up zip it. MOVE everything onto the thumb drive. plug it into system. eternal memory card and it shoud say the name of the device and stuff.
