Madden 10 Will Have New Online Modes

A “key features” list for Madden 10 has been posted up on on the Playstation website. At first glance the list comes across as somewhat vague but it actually contains a good deal of information much of which is new. The embargo for Madden comes up on Wednesday so I’ll be able to talk more about some of these features then.

Pro –Tak™ – This all new animation technology provides unprecedented control over the outcome of every play. Drag defenders towards the first down marker, including up to 9-man gang tackles, fight for a fumble at the bottom of the pile, and evade the rush with all-new quarterback avoidance actions. Enhanced play at the line of scrimmage features a new blocking system that allows the quarterback to step into the pocket and gives the defensive line more control over the rush.
Unprecedented Authenticity – Referees peeling players off a fumble pile, the chain gang rushing in to measure for a key first down, and all-new player equipment ensure that if you see it on Sunday, you’ll see it in Madden NFL 10.
Fight for Online Dominance – Delivering the most comprehensive online offerings in franchise history, Madden NFL 10 includes new modes to satisfy the competitive and cooperative football gamer.
The Emotion of the NFL – New TV broadcast-style presentation and cinematic cameras bring the suspense and intensity of the NFL to your living room.
Enhanced Franchise Mode – Run each aspect of an NFL franchise: draft players, sign free agents, manage the salary cap – just like a real GM. Enjoy all of the action throughout the league via a new, network inspired highlight show.
Madden NFL Your Way – The most customizable version of Madden NFL to date! Alter gameplay options to adjust the experience to your liking. A revamped play calling system and menu takes you to kickoff faster than ever before. Speed up online matches with accelerated clocks, streamlined presentation and more.

The most notable aspect of this feature list is the “new (online) modes to satisfy the competitive and cooperative football gamer”. Could that include the Online Franchise mode that people are hoping for? It looks like it at least remains a possibility. The cooperative part could be hinting at something along the lines of Online Team Play where each user would control just one player on a team. We’ll be finding out what they have in store for Madden 10 when the online related announcements are made at E3.

Nothing I want more then Online Tournament mode where users can host online tournaments and Madden could have sanctioned online tournaments. Thats the one major thing online madden is messing. Pool points for online rankings in tournaments, with the same set up as the head to head points system. I pray every year.

Is the thing about the Franchise mode a joke? " draft players, sign free agents, manage the salary cap – just like a real GM" ??? Isn't that the same thing franchise has been for 10 years? haha. I am so excited for this game but one thing i was hoping was that franchise mode would become worthy of playing more than 3 seasons but by the sounds of that it seems like it hasn't changed too much maybe they'll elaborate on the 'new' franchise mode eventually.

Actually of the whole list the Pro-Tak is what im most interested in. Obviously i want new online modes, broadcast presentation, and Franchise stuff. But the Tackle technology is what i really want to see. Will it be something that really is as good as it sounds. Especially since tackling is by far the most important aspect of a football game IMO since thats what football is. At least regarding gameplay.

I mean the better the tackling , with regards to seeing new stuff all the time keeps the game fresh for a long time IMO. I really hope it truely is dynamic.

Not to nitpick but if that's supposed to be Ricky Williams then they really need to make him darker & his facemask needs to have a smaller opening. I noticed that they have a lot of the players skin shades wrong. Hopefully they catch this & fix it.

They were careful to say "network inspired highlight show," which to me means something closer to a "Madden Weekly" segment than something that's ESPN branded. Having NFL Primetime would be pretty cool, as long as they can nail the crescendo that every team rides during the season, from the low murmur of off-season activity to the freak show hype fest circus act that is the weeks leading up to the Superbowl.

      Here's hoping.

Its probably EA Sports branded. ESPN isn't going to be a big part of the presentation. The NFL would prefer NFL Network be used. So theres that conflict there.

madden is all bark no bite. they can tell you all these new features but I guarantee that none of these features will work right. For example, they introduced the spectacular catch. Look how that turned out. Adaptive A.I. last year when all they did was make you drop more passes when you're ahead and vice versa.

lets just hope EA got the physics right in this game because i think the physics is the most important part of the game. if physics get done right that means no more retarded jukes, ALL running backs cutting on a dime, and NO MORE of this rocket catch bullshit well that means the procedural awareness where the WR has to follow the ball to catch it, rather than just turning around and jumping 50 feet in the air and just catching it. LETS JUST HOPE…..

I'd be okay with that. I'd much rather give my money to Sony. At least they can make a console that doesn't break down. I'm on my 3rd Xbox360. Luckily they've fixed it for free both times, but the fact that they have to fix it (or most likely replace it) at all is ridiculous. Plus my PS3 is soooo quiet compared to the Xbox360, which sounds like a small vacuum cleaner running sometimes. Still love both, though. I would have never gotten to play Gears of War or Fable 2. Got my PS3 for The Show and the eventual release of God of War 3, which will be another system seller for the PS3.
