As hoped for the big online announcement for Madden 10 was the inclusion of Online Franchise mode. Rather than if Peter Moore would be revealing Online Franchise the main question going in centered around whether it would be as fully featured as consumers would associate with a mode by such a name. Based on the trailer shown at the EA press conference and the audience reaction it appears this will not be a let down.
Announced on stage at the EA E3 2009 press conference, Madden NFL 10 Online Franchise features a robust feature set, including live drafts, player transactions, league message boards, and more – all manageable from your console, remotely through a web browser, or via a custom iPod Touch Application. Your Madden NFL 10 Online Franchise is always just a click away.
Last year it was Online Dynasty that made NCAA Football 10. This year NCAA has the creative Teambuilder feature to add on to that. However Madden may be stealing back some of that thunder with Online Franchise. The prospect of playing within an NFL franchise mode of up to 31 other people is incredibly intriguing.
Trades and the draft sound like so much fun when competing against other users. The live elements of the Online Franchise were a hurdle that they’ve apparently overcome and done so by offering multiple ways to complete them such as drafting on the web. Essentially it could be just as easy as completing fantasy football drafts.
Don’t worry about being tied to your console for your upcoming Online Franchise live draft. You and your friends can all participate simultaneously from your game console or online, via an Internet connection and web browser. Set your depth chart while waiting in line at the grocery store, and it will automatically be updated for your next game. Have access to your Madden NFL 10 Online Franchise 24/7, 365.
If you have questions about how the mode will work leave them in the comments and I’ll address them on Tuesday and Wednesday at E3. The mode will not be playable on the floor or even reachable through menus but it is open for discussion. I have a bunch of questions in mind but would appreciate anything else that would be interesting to report back on!

this is so amazinggggg
June 2, 2009 at 3:10 am
wow very nice. so many new games to get and this just made my list.
June 2, 2009 at 3:12 am
This is great – IF they fix franchise.
As an avid franchise player there are problems GALORE: free agency, the draft, scouting, retirements, progression are all lackluster and haven't been addressed in years.
If Online Franchise is just Madden 09 (and 08, 07, 06) online it'll suck. So I hope they're making improvements to franchise itself!
June 2, 2009 at 3:17 am
Agreed. Obviously a lot depends on improving the mode in general. But really I knew NCAA 09 was flawed but because of OD I played that game more than any other this generation. I suspect the same could happen with Madden.
June 2, 2009 at 4:59 am
pasta didnt they post a blog about 2 months ago claiming to have fixed most if not all of btemp's issues? i think this has the ability to be the best madden i've ever played (started in 06' when they got the exclusive liscence)
June 2, 2009 at 2:35 pm
They have fixed alot of the problems with madden. Like the draft, free agency, and progression. It will take time to fix everything but there doing a great job .

June 2, 2009 at 10:38 pm
If you think about it if they add the human component to all 32 teams then free agency, the draft and scouting will be a little more challenging. EA did put out that your free agents will request more money this year so to make it a hardship to keep all of your top players. I myself am looking forward to this addition and hopefully they allow a sim ability. I think the most important thing to remember is that you want a strong player base just like in fantasy football. If the players run amuck it can kill a league and make it's enjoyability low but if run and treated like an actual league in the template of the NFL it should pan out very well.
June 2, 2009 at 3:18 am
This sounds fucking great
June 2, 2009 at 3:19 am
Am I the only one who is not impressed with online franchise? I mean, NCAA had it last year. And, FB Pro had it ten years ago. Moving league interaction from the console to the browser is a nice feature, but I'm holding out to see the details. I love the fact that Madden is moving to a more realistic sim, hopefully EA will continue this approach with online franchises. I would like to be able to exchange game film, and see play by play like FB Pro. I would like to see online franchise involve more sim like componets. Like a decision on watching film, hitting the gym or practicing a new play, have an impact on that weeks game.
June 2, 2009 at 3:19 am
ask if you can relocate teams
is it 30 seasons like offline?
can you scout players like offline?
how does free agency work?
will it have the weekly franchise show?
June 2, 2009 at 3:20 am
You should ask if it can be played with 30 computer controlled. Say I only deem one person worthy of an online franchise can him and I just play a franchise?
June 2, 2009 at 3:22 am
Few questions. Can you do like 12-16-24 team leagues? When you say draft is that a team draft or fantasy? Can you set who chooses when in a draft? Can you remove a guy if he turns out to be a cheeser? Once is game is completed can it be erased? Like if an owner was found to be cheating? If you can remove an owner how simple is it for a new guy to hop in and replace him? One of the biggest thing about online league sites like Leaguedaddy is they have a huge following so its easy to find new players. Will there be a resource to recruit the kind of owners your looking for in a league? Is there player stat tracking? How are injuries handled as far as can they be turned off? I think thats about it.
June 2, 2009 at 3:26 am
Also how will trades work can it still only be done by a team with the same about of games played?? And is there flex schedules? Can you customize your own divisions or is everyone in the same division? Can you choose how many games to be played in a season. Say you only want 10?
June 2, 2009 at 3:24 am
ummmm booooooo
June 2, 2009 at 3:24 am
Pasta is it true that EA is now shipping FN4 on June 25 instead of June 30?
June 2, 2009 at 3:52 am
Yes it is they said it at there press.
June 2, 2009 at 3:25 am
Pasta,
I have a few questions for you to ask them about the online franchise.
1. How many years can you play the franchise
2. Will NCAA roster be able to be imported into online franchise
3. How does free agency function in online franchise so everyone has a fair shot
4. Can you add/remove owners during the course of the franchise
5. Do all the features such as injuries appy online just like offline franchise
6. Will weather be random or based on real time weather or historical weather for that time of year
June 2, 2009 at 12:11 pm
Marvis nailed my list of questions except for 1:
Will we be forced to use the official rosters for online play when we start our online franchise, or can the commissioner upload a custom roster?
June 2, 2009 at 1:54 pm
Just though of one more question. Will the iPhone be the only supported mobile device with a Madden Frachise App? Any chance of seeing an app for Blackberry or other phones?
June 2, 2009 at 3:26 am
Also how will trades work can it still only be done by a team with the same about of games played?? And is there flex schedules? Can you customize your own divisions or is everyone in the same division? Can you choose how many games to be played in a season. Say you only want 10?
June 2, 2009 at 3:27 am
When are we going to have signups for the PastaPadre online franchise?
June 2, 2009 at 4:11 am
Ive already got a thread up in the forum for expressing preliminary interest
June 2, 2009 at 11:06 pm
If you start a franchise Pasta I have no qualms of selecting a bad team that I can later mold into a dynasty.
June 2, 2009 at 3:30 am
Questions:
1. Will you be able to play co-op in franchise mode?
2, Will you be able to pull off multi-team or uneven trades (ex. 3 players for 1)
3. If you don't have 32 human players will the unmaned teams be controlled by cpu or will the franchise only run with human controlled teams?
4. Follow-up to the previous question: If cpu controlled teams are allowed in franchise, how will trades be handles and what measures will be put in place to prevent scamming cpu controlled teams?
I've been an offline franchise mode player up until this point. I've tried playing online and hate it becuz it's a cheese fest. I hope that they have cleaned up the bugs that have hampered online play of the past. I'm looking forward to this year's Madden being a game I can enjoy both on and off line.
June 2, 2009 at 5:59 am
good questions muti trades yea read at ign
June 2, 2009 at 6:07 am
Best question posted:
"3. If you don't have 32 human players will the unmaned teams be controlled by cpu or will the franchise only run with human controlled teams?"
I can find 6 guys I know to play with. I can't find 31.
June 3, 2009 at 7:40 pm
Your able to play with just you and your friends and the rest of the teams are cpu. Pasta, the question for me is are you able to play a game as the computer team instead of playing the computer all season until your head to heads. If you come across the answer to this my email is frombigl@gmail.com.
June 2, 2009 at 3:31 am
Do you know if one player could sign up for more than 1 team for online dynasty? I have a lot of friends that would be interested in playing, but several (five of the 14 that will be playing) are going to live in a house together, with only 1 xbox 360. Is it possible to sign up for more than one team in online franchise? Or will they all need to get xbox live accounts?
June 2, 2009 at 4:00 am
Question:
1. How many seasons are there?
2. How are coaches going to work hire and firing? with others
3. Are there still going to have the training thing like in offline so can I be all cheap and train a player up?
4. Will player progression be normal like offline?
LOOKS great btw.
June 2, 2009 at 4:09 am
Yes, sorry…that news completely slipped my mind. I guess they really like this Friday release thing.
June 2, 2009 at 4:12 am
Pasta if you could please find out about these questions I would greatly appreciate it!!!
1. Does a players skills increase and decrease online based upon his real life skills?
For example: Felix Jones came out of nowhere last year b4 he got hurt. Would his skills imcrease in my online franchise?
2. While on the topic of injuries? WIll real life injuries be affected online?
3. Will trades in the middle of the season occur online do to real life trades?
For example: Roy Williams leaving Detroit for Dallas? Michael Vick returning
4. How will free agency work?
5. Does the weather apply to how it is in that home teams current state, or is it random?
I can't wait for this game to come out. In my opinion it is killing NCAA so far. Keep the post coming Pasta!!!
June 2, 2009 at 4:22 am
Question:
Hey forgot can u trade away future draft picks this year???
June 2, 2009 at 4:49 am
yeah they have that on an IGN article – you can trade future picks
June 2, 2009 at 1:20 pm
doesn't the IGN Article say you can't trade Draft picks? Unless I misread that, I am pretty sure you can't trade picks.
June 2, 2009 at 9:27 pm
Question:Dawk is right u can trade future picks SWEET!!!
June 2, 2009 at 1:42 pm
could u give me a link so i can see?
June 2, 2009 at 4:14 am
Two questions I forgot!!!
6. Does it have to be 32 teams or can you do 12-16-20-24?
7. If you have computer generated teams, how do the simulated stats work? Users want a fair chance to win season awards too.
June 2, 2009 at 4:20 am

June 2, 2009 at 4:59 am

June 2, 2009 at 5:06 am
i really wanna kno if its gonna be (to the t) exactly like offline franchise mode. thats all i wanna kno, cuz if not im not a happy camper.
not sold yet
June 2, 2009 at 5:16 am
1. Are rosters Isolated (meaning, I don't want EA Roster updates to mess with my On-line Franchise Roster, cause believe it or not, some games do that, which blows my mind)
2. What trade limitations do we have, if any?
3. What can we do on the website? I saw Depth Chart changes, which is great, what about position changes and trades, Free Agency?
4. Will Co-Op be available inside on-line franchise?
5. What options can we control, every off-line option, sliders, etc…?
6. What CAN'T be done on the web interface… owner replacement?
7. The Draft!! Drafting via Website, FANTASTIC!! Can we control how many rounds? Can we choose to sim part of the draft at some point? Can we que up players? Can the comish customize time between picks?
8. Also, what is the capability of porting over a draft class from NCAA? Will it work? How would we do it? are the stats realistic?
9. What happens during disconnects? Can the commish control who wins/loses? Is a replay game possible? Will the game track the stats until the disconnect?
10. How is progression? Is it realistic? Is it based solely on performance in the game (could promote running up the score)?
11. How is the salary cap handled? Is it worth it to keep in the franchise and let some teams trade at their peril?
12. Does Madden have dedicated servers now or is it Peer to Peer?
June 2, 2009 at 6:31 am
Good Stuff. Asked somethings i forgot about
June 2, 2009 at 6:44 am
I forgot to also put for you to inquire about camera angles in the game. Are there more than one? Can you customize your own? Thanks.
June 2, 2009 at 6:56 am
Too bad you can't trade draft picks for players and vice-versa. EA seems to find a way to dissapoint somehow..
June 2, 2009 at 7:29 am
edit, http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/988/988822p1.html
IGN says you can (Gamespot was wrong).
Sorry for the bashing
June 2, 2009 at 6:57 am
IGN posted their Madden Online Franchise article. I haven't looked to see if all questions asked here are answered but I know that some of them have.

June 2, 2009 at 9:04 am
how fun is it gonna be drafting year in and year out for new talent and trading draft picks. we r all gonna be like mini coaches lol. of course im gonna have the best team in like two or three seasons, cuz im just that much of a gm.
June 2, 2009 at 1:35 pm
Guys remember, this is going to be very similar to Online Dynasty from last year. If you look at some of the screen shots that are on OS, you can see you can play with CPU Controlled teams, and that there will most likely not be flex scheduling as there is a screen shot showing READY / NOT READY for teams during that specific week. Which is exactly how the Online Dynastys are. Secondly, Online Franchise is 100% more intricate then Online Dynasty and you can't expect them to have everything perfectly right the first time. Hell NCAA was missing a whole bunch of stuff, and a lot of the stuff they had was very buggy, but it played well and it worked and thats all that matters.
Now I clearly don't have all the answers and I may be wrong. But I am pretty sure things like Isolated Rosters will be enabled, (which means no real life changes will be made or updated to your online franchise whilst the franchise is going on. But any time you create a franchise after a certain roster update was made those changes would be in the Franchise.
June 2, 2009 at 1:43 pm
Hey when are we getting the Player and Team Ratings? Last year got them on may 31st so any day now?
June 2, 2009 at 1:47 pm
Wrong post, but when can we download Other teams from teambuilder?
June 2, 2009 at 11:28 pm
Get the name right it's M-o D-i-d-d-l-e-y . I got this game as a 7.8 right now on the world famous Mo Diddley's "Buy Meter". As far as the new stadium for Dallas I give it a BIG SO WHAT! It's not like they are going to win a title there when they couldn't even make the playoffs last year with an All-Star squad. Talk about a lame team the only thing Dallas can get excited by is a new stadium big whoop after this year it won't even be new anymore lol. It's not like yall can look forward to actually winning a playoff game which yall haven't done in like what is it………..12 YEARS! or is it 13 YEARS? Every team in the NFC EAST division made moves and got significantly better yall lost a ton of talent and think yall will be better LOL! What a joke but at least you have your "new " stadium to keep you warm even though it has yet to get a sponsor deal and still has vacancies. LMAO at you Dallas Cowgirls
June 2, 2009 at 11:35 pm
Ty every time you post something you should note how long has it been since the Dallas Cowgirls won a playoff game.
Dallas lost it's #1 WR, it's starting DT, DE, CB, SS, MLB, OLB and defensive coordinator. So how did yall get better? Don't say the draft with those sorry late round picks after trading the farm for Roy E. Williams last year. Dallas is a joke a team with no heart and now no stars except for the stars that Tony Romeo will see when he gets knocked on his back from the rest of the NFC EAST. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Mo Diddley has spoken!
June 2, 2009 at 1:52 pm
Will I be able to play a private online franchise with just me and a friend, and the rest of the teams are computer teams? Will I be able the change my team at any time to a computer team.
June 2, 2009 at 1:59 pm
Will I or anybody in franchise be able to play with compter teams if there is only "say 4 people" in the league? Is there a limit of the amount of people/teams that you need for online franchise?
June 2, 2009 at 2:26 pm
hey padre very important question to ask. PLEASE ask if we can upload or draft classes from our ncaa dynasties? thanks bro
June 2, 2009 at 5:02 pm
m e and 6 of my friends play franchise mode on ps3 but only 2 of us have a ps3. so my question is can we play an online franchise using just the 2 systems or does everybody need their own.
June 2, 2009 at 5:14 pm
will roster updates affect player ratings?
June 2, 2009 at 11:03 pm
Think about it would you want your human opponent to get the benefit of a ratings boost right before you play just because of what the actual person did and not because of what he did in the Madden game?
Hopefully they leave your ratings to be decided by what you do in the game. If you want Eddie Royal to be the best WR in the game then throw to him all game but it wouldn't be fair if the "real" Eddie Royal lit up the league this year and you get a midseason ratings boost even though you barely play him.
June 2, 2009 at 5:48 pm
Question:
Can you have an option to play or not play pre-season games? Does the owner have an option to set it on or off should say.
June 2, 2009 at 7:23 pm
I'd like to know if the website will provide any kind of league stats or if it will be geared towards console functionality only.
June 2, 2009 at 7:44 pm
Ugh.
June 2, 2009 at 10:32 pm
anyone needing players on xbox 360 my gamertag is ckykmk088 im def down for sure
June 2, 2009 at 11:52 pm
http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/sports/maddennfl1...
Go read all about it just 14 spots left looking for full 32 players it's going fast. Serious players only tho the guy that made it wants like 5 games a week so got to be on.
June 2, 2009 at 10:49 pm
I believe that by adding a human component to all 32 teams will make it more of a challenge. As long as you have players who treat it like an actual NFL league and stay within ethical guideline i.e. not dropping all of your players and trading star players for nothing. It should be a pretty fun league almost like fantasy football on steroids. I think it will be nice to build a team like the Detroit Lions and make them a perennial playoff team and possible a Super Bowl in that time period. As long as the commissioner and teams comply into treating it in a serious manner.
June 2, 2009 at 10:52 pm
I see a lot of potential in this online franchise. The only thing I would like added if it hasn't been done already is an ability to sim the games. That way I could play the actual games in one and in another sim several seasons to experience free agency, the draft and how your team competes in a short time span.
