From an X-College Athlete who played the game and now coaches it at the 5A level I will let you know that "a hurt pinkie toe" can cause you so much discomfort that it will keep you off the field. Remember the greatest "DB" to ever play the game (Deion Sanders)? Turf toe damn near ended his career. The other guy tore his hamstring (which is serious). He was a strong force prior to that.
