E3 2009 Day Two Videos

Once I got back from E3 it became much easier to upload and process the videos. So here are all the rest of the vids I took while out there for Madden 10 and NCAA Football 10.
For Madden this includes an extended recording of Redskins @ Seahawks, a couple intros and half time highlights. These are all on All-Pro difficulty. For NCAA there are a few showing gameplay on All-American (be warned I was trying to play and record at the same time) and also two replays of “setup” plays where you can see how the defense reacts.
Still to come over the next couple days will be my full impressions article on Madden and a wrap-up of the entire event. Continue on to check out the videos and leave your thoughts in the comments.

Pasta, does height play in a role in this game? For example, if I draft a 6'5 WR for a Red Zone target, will it matter and will the WR's be able to jump this year?

Didn't play enough to really say one way or the other. I do think jumping ability will be a beneficial attribute.

Hay Pasta, when watching the madden vids did you notice the pass throwing in the game looks real familiar.kinda like APF2K8 i like it a big improvement from madden 09

1. Can you import from NCAA 2010 offline in just a regular franchise?

3. I read somewhere were somebody got a late hit penalty? Is that true?

Pasta, I noticed that the highlights were done a little better when the game was played instead of simmed but there were still insignificant plays getting love. Did Ian say that they were going to tweak that? What else seems like it needs to be worked on? Thanks for the vids…I almost passed up on Madden this year.

Most of the times we got to replays we had super-simmed at least part of the way to get there. So it could only pull from the pool of plays that the user had. That explains why there are some insignificant plays include in the highlight reels.

With all the other great additions to the game, I'm willing to give EA a pass on progressive lighting this year. lol. We're on the same page though, I don't know why EA ever took progressive lighting out in the 1st place because it really gets you immersed in the game. Can't complain though, EA really stepped it up this year with everything else in Madden. Can't wait for this game! It's almost hard to watch these vids because it makes me want the game even more. Lol

The foundation has been laid! Finally!, Madden has something to build on. You can tell the many subtle and not so subtle improvements. Looks like they have a solid game and now have the next X number of years to fine tune it and improve. One of the things I liked the most was that CPU players no longer run out of bounds for no reason. I loved the play when Portis caught the swing pass and was able to turn up field where last year, his momentum animation would have carried him out of bounds. Also looks like the CPU can actually run the ball this year for more than 15 yards per game.
Some of the issues of concern for me is the pocket formation seems to favor the O-Line heavily. ProTak has made a big difference, but it's also opened up gaping holes at the line of scrimage, which I can see becoming a major exploit if you have a mobile QB. Of course, this is preliminary and perhaps turning the difficulty up to All Madden and tweaking sliders will increase the realism by not give the QB enough time to balance his checkbook while he surveys the field and then decide which of the 5 foot running lanes to run through.

Here we go…Talk about tweaking sliders. You know what is so funny about sliders? It is so fucked up how the majority of the video game football players waste so much time with slider tweaking. It is unbelieveable. Leave the shit alone people, and play it on the default settings. That is where you get the true game! You waste so much fucking time messin' with those things to get the perfect sim, by the time you are done, 6 months have past and Madden 11 will be out soon. IT IS JUST A GAME, NOT REAL FOOTBALL! Remember that. Do you see anyone playing Madden 97 on PSX? Nope. Remeber how great THAT was?! Well, look at what we have now. You fuckin' people are spoiled! LEAVE THE SHIT ALONE!

Congrats Jesse, that may just have been the dumbest comment ever put to screen. Try not having to capitalize entire sentences when trying to make a point…of the obvious I might add. There's nothing funny about sliders, they're there for a reason…to use; and if it takes you 6 months to tweak them to your liking, maybe you should think about putting down the controller for good.

Pasta not sure if you noticed while you were playing but it looked like at least on 2 occasions during the Seattle/washington game that the shotgun snap back to Hasselbeck was not very accurate and made him reach across his body to catch it. Not a huge deal, but added some realism to the gameplay and I don't believe this was in last year's game..

the top plays from the half-time show and even the post-game show are REALLY bad…how many -1 yard runs could possibly be considered a top play…EA needs to fix the highlights…

Much of that is cause at different points we were super-simming and if the game doesnt have that many plays to choose from thats what happens. Play longer quarters completely and I'm sure those will be better.

I believe this is because most of the game is being simmed and the game can only show clips from plays that were actually displayed.. Which is why some of the highlights are really lowlights.. lol

Im really liking what Im seeing. I was happy with 09 and this seems to be the Madden I always wanted. I didnt know this was the first Madden Ian Cummings was the lead guy on. Im sure he will be around for awhile considering the jump it made this year. Good stuff.

My brother is #37 on ND. He is a senior and despite playing mostly on punt/kick coverage, he is on the Ronnie Lott Watch list for best defensive player for the upcoming year. Any chance you could tell me if you saw him as a DB for ND?
I've been buying the college football series since it was "College Football All American" back in the late 90's. I'm really hoping they included my brother in the game.
