Update on NCAA Football 10 Rosters

EA has finally made a statement in regards to the rosters for NCAA Football 10 (as viewed through Teambuilder) that have been found to have serious issues. Those include teams with no or few freshman and players who have graduated that remain on the rosters.

Hey guys… so we are aware of the issue with no (or few) freshmen on some teams in TeamBuilder and yes the same issues are found on the NCAA 10 disc. Over the past few days, one of our top priorities has been investigating solutions.

The TeamBuilder teams require some data on the disc to set Depth Charts for every team created before they can be used in a game. For example if you use the Cupcake roster as a starting point, NCAA 10 will give you a default Depth Chart for the Cupcakes for your TeamBuilder team (which you can edit in game). This means any changes we make could cause some problems with teams already created using TeamBuilder. So we need to ensure we are taking to proper steps to correct the issues.

We understand the concerns with how this can affect Dynasty mode and Online Games, so we are working hard to have a solution in place before launch on July 14th.

So it sounds like this caught the NCAA developers by surprise and wasn’t a messy roster by design. How it could get by to the final version of the game without being noticed though is frustrating.

I certainly understand not wanting to lose the tens of thousands of teams that have been created since Teambuilder launched. Those represent hours of work that people have put in. At the same time the rosters in their current state could damage the experience for many.

Hopefully they find a resolution that keeps the created teams in tact while fixing the issues with the base roster. On a positive note having Teambuilder brought this problem to light six weeks in advance of the game’s release rather than finding out about it on July 14th and having to wait over a month to see a patch correct it.

Does this kind of oversight surprise you considering how obvious the folks behind NCAA mailed it in this year? When you consider the giant leaps that Madden took (and NCAA 09 for that matter), NCAA 10 is an afterthought. Personally, I believe this is by design from the folks at EA. I don't think they wanted Madden to have any competition this year, especially coming from their own. NCAA saw marginal improvements, but this error in the rosters is evidence that they really didn't care too much about this game or were short handed because they had all the rocket scientist working on Madden.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I am understanding your post is basically that EA is saying is that the TeamBuilder rosters are final (As viewed through TeamBuilder).

Basically the TeamBuilder template rosters are final for every team, they are screwed up and they are final.. However, the TeamBuilder rosters don't necessarily have to be the same as the in-game (non-teambuilder) rosters that will be shipped with the game. Won't it be possible for the actual non-team builder rosters to still undergo corrections?

Also, what is to prevent people from editing names and rosters like always from within the game? The only thing I've seen TeamBuilder allow is actually creating new teams. I don't think TeamBuilder is going to be required to edit the non-teambuilder rosters that ship with the game.

This basically sums up how I feel about NCAA '10 and the NCAA team. Madden seams to be making great strides along with having great community support. The NCAA team has not been near as good and has also not listened as well to the community giving us things like SS rather than working on other areas more such as Dynasty.

This doesn't even make sense to me. How hard is it to take out the graduated seniors and input (mostly generic) freshman? I mean, other than the top 100 Freshman or so, it's just a guess as to what their rating should be because most people don't know about them. It can't be that hard to make those generic freshman.

I've bought every NCAA game since 03 but this may be the first time I decide not to buy NCAA. I'm not a team builder kind of guy and don't care about season showdown, like the rest of the worl.

This just goes to show that NCAA 2010 is just a remake of NCAA 09. Last year it was the EA Locker bust, now its the TEAMBUILDER bust!! Why is the NCAA series tanking so hard over the last few years?? Pasta whats the deal man? What happened to the NCAA series that had Larry Fitzgerald (05). That bad boy was off da chain!! Im so disappointed this year. Screw Season Showdown, Screw Teambuilder. I'm confused as to why we would lose our teams just because the rosters for the teams ALREADY in the game are wrong? I for one could care less about the actual teams now that I can create my own. I don't forsee myself playing with any of the real teams anyway.

I think I am a little confused here. So basically if I loaded my team template on teambuilder and edited the roster to include freshmen they are saying that it would damage other teams' rosters if I loaded it to the game? I have created a team and changed the year (Sophomore to Freshman) on several of my players. So the teams I created now have freshmen. If I load the game will it mess up other rosters on the game?
