EA does NOT want to sell a disc every 2-3 years. Yeah, they are trying to make better sports games, but they do want to have you buy a disc every year.

"EA is headed to the era of selling a Madden Disc every 2-3 years, and downloading an updating of the game season-to-season for a fee every August. I think its a great idea, and they may even skip Madden 11 if the '10 version is stable enough to be their 'platform' for a few years. If not, the idea is definitely in the future of Madden. They will probably make a Madden '11 so they can add salaries to the Online Franchise, and then use Madden 11 as an updatable game for multiple NFL seasons... "

Where are you getting this from? That's something I've been hoping they'd do for years. Have you seen anything about it or are you only speculating?

People are still whining!?!? I dislike EA too but you have to admit they seem to be trying this year to make it a realistic NFL game. In the past few years they focused way too much on the online gameplay, and tried to please the online gamers only, which is what made the next-gen Maddens go in the wrong direction.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxyTUaqm2GU" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxyTUaqm2GU</a>

Remember this? The 'target video' for next-gen Madden that was released before the 360 came out way back when? The graphics/animations are a million times better than any Madden that has been released so far. This year, it seems they are finally starting to get a LITTLE closer to this 'target video'.

I just hope the 'feel' of the gameplay is right. If they can capture the real speed and flow of an NFL game, then it will be a success. All people really want is a realistic NFL experience, and they are making improvements to focus on this. The 'blurring' of the stadium and crowd is reminiscent of GTA4 and is a great idea to keep the entire stadium detailed and 'alive'. To me, Madden 10 looks like it is going to feel alot more like a real NFL Sunday.

EA's only competition is itself. So keep your fingers crossed that they really are going to make a PLAYABLE, REALISTIC, ACCURATE NFL game. I also like the idea of updating the game after release and integrating the Web to your Online Franchise. They should be able to make all aspects of the Madden franchise available on your computer(which I could see happening for Madden 12-13).
