NBA Live 10 Feature Descriptions

The launch of the NBA Live 10 website also brought about a page describing some of the features in the game. Of the items listed only one is actually new. At this point it is probably safe to assume that they are holding back on describing the larger improvements or additions after the events of last year proved why holding off can sometimes be necessary. However it also could signal strong attention to gameplay enhancements rather than adding features. The strength of the 09 was its wide feature set so the need to expand on that isn’t great, and the developers have hinted at gameplay being the central focus for 10.

  • Dynamic DNA- Player and team updates based on real-world performance are transferred in-game every day. Current trades, injuries, player tendencies, streaks, and more provide the most up-to-date experience every time you hit the court.
  • Pick & Roll Control- Take control over both the ball handler and the screener, as you execute this fundamental two man play. Select who sets the screen, and choose whether the screener slips or rolls towards the hoop then hit them with the perfect pass or make your move.
  • Play in a Playoff Atmosphere- Play in a Playoff Atmosphere—Feel the emotion and intensity grow as players, crowds, and bench react to every dramatic situation. The electricity inside the arena intensifies dynamically based on rivalry games, time of year, and what’s on the line.
  • 5 vs 5 Online Team Play- All 10 ballers on the court can now be controlled by users on 10 different consoles around the world. Now the game outcome can be completely dependent on how you play as an online squad.
  • Create your own highlight mix then upload the video to EASPORTS.com to show off your baller skills.
  • Player’s Court- Test out your moves with the best NBA players in new, cutting edge basketball facility.

Although the majority of these features are ones that return from last year they are all expected to have improvements within them. It’ll especially be interesting to see what has been done to expand on the popular DNA feature. One common request was for the inclusion of defensive tendencies.

I wonder what will the playoff atmosphere look like? Other than that nothing really stands out or excite me.

For playoff atmosphere i hear they like put the logos on the court and stuff like that. which is pretty cool!

Probably I am wrong, but the strong 5vs5 gameplay was the main porpuse of EA in the last 2 years, too. This list is like a copy-paste marketing list they used in the last 6-7 years. "all expected to have improvements" —–> do not be naive, Pasta.

I hope they fix things like defense and offense. -lol How did they forget offensive tip ins??? I did enjoy the game for a few weeks but then little things became apparent and switched BACK to 2k. I am hoping that it truly becomes more SIM b/c a lot of things were really promising at 1st.

…..pick n' roll was great, free-throw shooting was great, the feel of dribbling was amazing when I finally learned it, and shooting was more forgiving than 2k's…but defense as a whole was a chore and the player models were not nearly as good as 2k's!

Doesn't bother me. Better gameplay can be fresher than a ton of half-assed new features so I think they made the right choice.

I picked up NBA 2K9 late a few months after release becasue I just couldnt go without a BBall game all year, but didnt need on ASAP. But I got to admit that EA is making me think it might be time to go back to them after years of picking the 2K series. And not only that, but I probably wont wait so ling this year either. I'll still reserve my choice until a few weeks after release of both games and see what the public opinion (and our dear friend Pasta) have to say. Point is, this is the closest I think the race has been for me for years, and I am certainly interested, thats obviously a plus.

    • reignman

:D I know, what Pasta shall say. His opinion comes in an envelope from the EA HQ, with an additional check. Many BB fans says, that THIS might be the year…but no, this will be 2k's year again, again and again.

agreed. get ready for the greatest nba game ever, like it is year after year! NBA 2k10 is ready to dominate for the 9th straight year!!

I Hope They Put In Summer League Play So You Could Assign Rookies and Free Agents To Your Team and Sign Free Agents Based Off of Their Play…………and They Should Incorporate D-League Play Too During The Season, If You Assign Any of Your Players, You Should be Able To Play NBDL Games With Them During The Season.

The 3 things the need to fix in order to makes this game better is :
    1. The dribbling system sucked , you never saw crossovers or spin moves.
    2. the breakaway system was non exsistent- the defender always caught up to you no matter what.
    3. It absoloutly has to have a be a pro mode like NHL. i think this is the one game where your one player can change a franchise because most of the time a one man team can make the playoffs in the NBA. so i think your player can actually change the outcome and make it fun. i guess in NHL its the same but games like madden and fifa its more of a team game. IT Would

We all shall make judement on the "new features" for Live '10. We are told and hyped up every year for some sort of "FAILURE". Gameplay, gameplay, gameplay, for the last 3 years; and still has major issues or lack of any. EA couldn't buy 2K Sports so they bought individuals from within 2K to come over to EA. After seeing a former programer/ designer from 2K now on the EA team late last year. I knew EA had problems.

(Continued) EA should go back to LIVE 2003 / 2004 / 2005, and just rebuild those PS2 classics and sell those to US. This is next GEN; and i have yet to see the power and the graphics of these systems consistently 7.9gbs of HD power for the Xbox360, and the Super power of the 25gb bluRay PS3 disks. That's tons of space to create something unforgettable. Remember the PS2 only had 4.7gbs of play room, and they brought US some really great gameplay and graphics. There is soo much more to these NEXT-GEN consoles and "I" feel we are getting less for what we pay, and what is available out there. I have one question to all that played the game for a few months, and were waiting for better patches to come out. "Weren't you pissed to find out that the DEV team, abandoned the game? " so "What did WE really buy?" and "Was the game broken, upon delivery?"

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/jonathanglapion jonathanglapion

Of course the game was broken upon delivery. Are we getting our true value, Not until they STOP taking things out of the game. Remember when you were able to raise your arms in the game to deflect inbound passes and contest shots. Well from what I've been told from one of the team member who responded to a question I had about the basics of the game EA has put that back in the game. I think the producer (at least one of them) in charge was Brian Ulrich, this guy just rubbed me the wrong way every time he spoke about the game of basketball. A true idiot to put it lightly. Why would you think taking away the option to dunk or layup would ever been a smart and AUTHENTIC thing to do is beyond me. This was the guy that seemed to be the face of production at least from the stand point of interviews and talking about the game. fast forward to 09 and 10 I don't think he's involved but i could be wrong. I think what people need to realize is these games will always release incomplete to an extent so that they get your dollar the fallowing year. But what is unfair is when we get a broken product and we are just left to deal with it is almost unforgivable. I think I have a lot more faith this time around that live will deliver. The tone is completely different this time around. For the first time I'm not hearing excuses, they are actually saying the game was broken.

I think that is EA's theme this year is to copy games from the year before and slap a "10" on the box…….just look at college football 10. But any way I'm not suprised by the short "features" list. They did acknowledge that they had a serious problem with the basic fundamentals of the game and they need to work on that before they can add more crappy features for guys like Cabrillio to buy it.
