Madden 10 vs 09 Screenshot Comparison

Here are the official numbers darkheath. Now you know Mo Diddley can back up what he claims. I did a little research and found comparable numbers halfway through with Madden 04 and 2K5 but the final numbers are staggering

Madden 04 game sales=5.91 million copies
@ $50 bucks=295.5 Million

NFL 2K game sales=3.45 million copies
@ $20 bucks=69 million

Now if that isn't killing the competition then you tell me what is?

*this is only taking into consideration the top 2 platforms (PS2 & XBOX) at that time

I played that game over 400 hours. I would have dropped $100 for it. It was easily worth it. Just because things like caviar have a high price tag doesn't mean it tastes good. Don't let the price fool ya, kid.

The worse thing about NFL 2k5 was that TO was on the cover.

I still like 09's play calling screen SO MUCH better than 10. Also I hate that you can't sub in play type now, just formations sucks. Overall tho 10's alot better really notice it in the faces of the players.

Mo Diddley will agree with you there darkheath as Madden 06 IMO was the best Madden to ever come out (of course barring Madden 10). 06 had something they have yet to duplicate…..personalities. I wish they would go back to that.

MUCH BETTER! they got rid of that "fog" to make things look further away. all that did was annoy the crap out of me. I complained alot when I first saw that because the only time things look foggy at a game is when the weather is bad or fireworks just went off. this looks MUCH clearer now and way better than it used to. The helmets are nice and shiney and there is a hint of metalic in the paint even from a distance. NICE!

Eh, it looks a little better, but that could just be some photoshopping of 09 to make things look whitewashed. The depth of field is cool, and the player models are a lot better.

But truthfully, unless you're watching a replay, the player models didn't have to improve that much. Nice, but not a deal sealer for me. It's all in the gameplay.

Next year they need to put the effort they spend on graphical updates toward updating their presentation and fleshing out Online Dynasty. Gameplay and graphics, while not perfect, are more than good enough. Presentation which has marginally improved over the last 5 years has always been an afterthought for EA across the board. If they didn’t touch the graphics and only focused on online gaming and immersive presentation, Madden 11 would be undeniable.

Madden 10 is the first step in the right direction, but will inevitably lack immersion and depth as many of EA's titles do. Hopefully EA wises up to this issue and makes the proper adjustments for Madden 11.

theyve stated that they went through and made all the players look authentic with their gear that they wear, but from the Seahawks videos that ive seen i picked out a number of players who still had the wrong equipment, hopefully its adressed wen it comes out, coz thats one of the little things that wen done right makes the game look better

I bet EA Sports would find it alot harder to be compared to another actual competing football game like 2K then having Madden 10 compared to their own shit game from last year. Just another reason they monopolized the market like they did, if not you'd be comparing Madden 10 screenshots with NFL 2k10 right now

Where we see the birth of the terms “Robo QB”, “Suction Blocking” and Phonebooth Tackling” to describe soley Next Gen Madden’s issues.

Brief Timeline decline of Madden football

2005 – Madden releases one of its most well received games in history, Madden 2005. It is regarded as the peak of Madden’s life on the Ps2 and XBOX. 2K Sports counters with the release of what will go on to be the most critically acclaimed football game of all time, NFL 2k5, which coincidentally would be 2K’s last NFL game. Times are good.

Late 2005 – EA Sports sign an exclusive licensing deal through 2009 with the NFL and the NFLPA to give them the exclusive rights to use the NFL's teams, stadiums and players in a video game.

2006 – EA misleads the public with a over dramatized movie trailer which was portrayed as being what Madden on the Next Gen gameplay would be like. This would turn out to be be 100% false.

2006 – Much hoopla gets made about EA Sports acquiring the ESPN license, which they then end up doing absolutely nothing of note with to enhance the gaming experience.

2006- David Ortiz takes charge of Madden franchise for two disastrous years that this gen Madden may never recover from due to EA’s refusal to change engine

2006 – John Madden, original creator and namesake of Madden, is pushed out/steps down as a creative force behind Madden games.

2006 – Popularity of online play causes EA to tweak game in accordance to its online community cheesers rather then real NFL football as had previously been the case for a decade. Despite publicly deriding and criticizing cheap online play, EA goes on to market toward these same players, even producing a TV series around them called “Madden Nation”.

2008-2009- David Ortiz gets the shaft, and it is announced that Madden 10 will be headed by Ian Cummings, Ian and Co. proclaim a much needed new direction for Madden, despite the “EA Marketing team” directly on the other coin praising the successes of Madden 09 financially and gameplay wise in order to market Madden 10. Despite this back to basics profession, the producers decide to stick with the original heavily criticized engine to make their improvements on top of. Early impressions of the demo showed the same problems that plauged Madden 09, not suprisingly.

Some say 2k football would never outsell Madden, but that was 5 years ago. Consider if the great 2k Football games were available each year after year, for the past 5 awful years of Madden. Consider if consumers had a choice. It is my belief that the exact same thing that happened with 2K basketball slowly taking over the market from EA Sports NBA Live in those same 5 years, would have happened with football. Maybe someone at EA recognized this, and pushed for the exclusive license.

The Graphics are denfinatly a lot better. Look at Heinz field. In 09 it looks way too dark. in Madden 10 it looks more realistic!
