Madden 10 Coverage Beginning Soon

I will have a copy of Madden 10 tomorrow, at which point the coverage surge will begin sometime in the evening. Expect lots of HD videos, online impressions, an Online Franchise walk-through, general impressions, and more. I’ll also be leaving random observations and thoughts as I go through the game on Twitter. New content will be posted each day up through release next Friday. As always feel free to leave suggestions in the comments for what you would like to see. Particular match-ups for videos or areas of the game you’d like to hear opinions on are more than welcome.

The more i play the demo, both of them, the more i realize that special teams in Madden is STILL a glaring weakness of the franchise.
1) Punt and kick return blocking is utterly non existant
2) Field goal kicking this year is horrible. Can these guys even kick the ball more than 35 yds.
3) The kick off animation is horrible as well. The kick seem to go sky high and the ball flight thru the air looks stupid.

While I will agree with you that punt returning is still pretty tough… I have already returned a kickoff for a touchdown twice with Breaston…. you just have to follow your blocks. And for how many times I have played the demo I would say that is about right on par with how often a kick actually gets returned for a touchdown maybe even too much. But punt returning is still pretty tough, the computer misses a lot of it's blocks and you have very little time to make a move against the computer.

I always line up in "punt block return", it forces the CPU to pull there gunners in and at least gives me a chance to start moving with the ball before the defense arrives.

Punt returns are tough but I have returned a kick return with A. Bradshaw and M. Moore which he is slow.

I don't know, maybe its me. All I know is that I ran back kickoffs with the Jets last year with some very good results and in playing the demo, again both of them, I cant seem to break thru the initial contact and kick to the outside like i did in last years game. Its good to know that many of you have done it though.

As far as punts are concerned, the blocking on the gunners is atrocious. There is no way that both gunners should be able to chuck both blockers off and make the tackle on a punt returner. Also the speed with which these gunners who are running full speed in one direction can all of a sudden stop and attain full speed in an instant going the other direction to make the tackle. I will concede the kickoff game but punting is still weak and hasn't changed at all over the years.

Interested in knowing if EA fixed some of the classic uniforms, specifically Seattle's…Always seems that the logo on the helmets don't stretch far enough behind the helmet.

Also interested in knowing more about the ability to adjust game speed. I like the fact that the overall feel is slower but it is a touch too slow for my liking….
